Seriously, I'll never get over how different Dany looks:

without the blonde hair:

Like if I saw her on the street, I would not recognize her as Daenerys at all. Though I guess that's a good thing for her, so she doesn't have people going up to her and calling her Khalessi and stuff.

Speaking of, what's up with nerdy chyx on TV wanting their boyfriends to refer to them as Khalessi? Ben was calling Leslie that on Parks and Rec, if you looked closely at the points poster in 30 Rock, one of the ways Criss could get points is to refer to Liz Lemon as Khalessi. And I know there was 1 other show that made such a reference recently.

Also, I still find it hilarious how Vanessa Lengies has embraced the fanon that Sugar is secretly Santana and Brittany's daughter from the future:

I guess I just like it when the stars on a TV show actually pay attention to the crazy things the fandom comes up with and actually give the fans something about it.

You know, I know its prolly because they feel it saves time and money, but what happened to the doctors taking your blood in the privacy of an exam room? I mean, they send you to the lab in the building, and you go in a blood drawing room with other people. Then the techs take a person's blood, then the next person comes up, and so forth, like an assembly line. Like I said, I suppose its more efficient that way, but it is kinda awkward. Like I do not need to be privy to some little girl freaking out over needles. And like how embarrassing must that be for her and her family? She's like over there crying and freaking out over being stuck by a needle, not just in front of the techs, but like random strangers!

Also, I'm not meaning for my complaining to come off like this:

Like, its not grinding my gears or anything.

TV commentary:

Glee- Weird, the Official Glee Youtube will usually leak one of the performances beforehand, and then after an ep airs, they'll post one of the more popular numbers from the ep, sometimes two. But I guess its because its the Whitney tribute, they put almost everything up (well, except for "My Love is Your Love" and the Joe/Quinn duet of "Saving All My Love").

So, I know I reviewed the songs in a previous post, but since I can actually link to the performances, I'll review them.

"Dance With Somebody":

Some people complained that Brittany's not good enough to sing Whitney, and while sure, she doesn't sound anywhere near as good as Whitney, I don't think she butchered it. Its perfectly fine, I bet she's singing it better than any of the haters ever could. Anyways, its a cute performance, and she and Santana are totes cute in this.

"So Emotional":

The duet that excited Pezberry lovers everywhere, because they're singing it to each other just about as much as they are their SOs. In any case, some people didn't like that it was sped up, but the show can never win. If they stay true to the original song, people complain its boring that they stuck with the original arrangement. But then when they change it up like this, people are up in arms about them changing it!

It's Not Right, But It's OK:

Its funny, because one of the reasons I can't stand the original Whitney video is all the judge-y women in the background, its a little corny and lame. But, I find it hilarious that they did it here, with the rest of the Glee club (except for Kurt, well and Rory and Sugar, who've been MIA these past couple of eps) playing the part of the judge-y women.

I Have Nothing:

I like this, it was nice and simple, no fantasy sequence or cutaways, just Kurt serenading Blaine in front of Glee club.

So AfterEllen posted their Top 50 Female TV characters list. I'll list the ones I've heard of: (though I don't necessarily watch all these shows)

50) Bianca Montgomery, All My Chidren
49) Sydney Bristow, Alias
48) Lisa Simpson, The Simpsons
47) Emily Prentiss, Criminal Minds
45) Sue Sylvester, Glee
44) River Song, Doctor Who
40) Effy Stonem, Skins
39) Temperance Brennan, Bones
38) Spencer Hastings, Pretty Little Liars
37) Spencer Carlin, South of Nowhere
36) Lorelai Gilmore, Gilmore Girls
35) Bo Dennis, Lost Girl
33) Olivia Dunham, Fringe
32) Gabrielle, Xena
29) Casey Novak, SVU
28) Cara Mason, Legend of the Seeker
27) Myka Bering, Warehouse 13
26) Helena G Wells, Warehouse 13
25) Kahlan Amnell, Legend of the Seeker
22) Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation
20) Dana Scully, The X-files
19) Brittany S Pierce, Glee
18) Rachel Berry, Glee
17) Kate Beckett, Castle
16) Olivia Benson, SVU
15) Liz Lemon, 30 Rock
14) Veronica Mars, Veronica Mars
13) Quinn Fabray, Glee
12) Willow Rosenberg, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
11) Maura Isles, Rizzoli and Isles
9) Jane Rizzoli, Rizzoli and Isles
8) Naomi Campbell, Skins
7) Callie Torres, Grey's Anatomy
6) Emily Fields, Pretty Little Lairs
5) Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4) Emily Fitch, Skins
3) Xena, Xena
2) Arizona Robbins, Grey's Anatomy
1) Santana Lopez, Glee

Heh, I'm amused that Faberritana are all on the top 20. Because when I imagine Faberry, I also imagine Britanna along side them. No, not in that way! Well, I mean, that would also be hott, but I meant the two couples being close friends!

Anyways, I guess this is their "of all time" lists, since several of the mentioned characters are on shows that have been long since off the air? I'm not surprised Emily from PLL is in the top 10, nor Naomily from Skins, nor Callie and Arizona from Grey's. (Since I don't watch Grey's, what are Callie and Arizona's portmanteau?)

I didn't realize Rizzoli and Isles were so popular amongst the lesbian community. Or that of all apparently Casey was the favored L&O SVU DA? I figured people liked Alex better, that's why they brought her back? And while I think Buffy, Willow, Gaby and Xena's inclusion on this list were a given, I didn't realize Legend of the Seeker was a popular enough show to have both Kahlan and Cara both on here.

Heh, it wasn't until last night's 30 Rock and Parks and Rec that I remembered this year is a leap year.

The Finder- What the eff was that episode? Not only was it a "let's randomly bring someone from the parent show on to the spinoff to try and increase viewrship" ep, it seemed like one of the joke-y X-Files episodes. I mean alien super soldiers or high orbit spy planes that can send out signals to target people on the ground and knock them out? I mean, the show was weird enough when they brought gypsies into it. But government conspiracies? And what the hell, apparently Finder dude has an opposite in Peta Wilson, who's good at hiding things?!

However, the ep did remind me of something I keep forgetting to post about, seeing a shooting star the other day. Hey, I'd never seen one, so that was cool. I mean, I was driving back from dinner one day, and saw something streak across the sky and disappear. Which I assumed was like a space rock burning up in the atmosphere, not some sort of alien ship.

Glee- Ha, so there are people who ship Faberry, and there are those who ship Achele. As in the actual actresses, which that's the shippers' prerogative. But while I'm fine with wanting to see certain TV characters together, shipping actual real life people (that I don't know) together is a little too weird for my tastes. I mean, I will accept that their behavior towards each other in public can get very... affectionate at times. But that's just speculation on my part, I'm fine with thinking "Hmm, that behavior is odd, I wonder if they're secretly together" but its a little too much to think "they should totally get together!"

In any case, I am amused by the conspiracy theories concerning those two, that not a few days after the two actresses won a big poll voting them the favorite couple on TV, even though they play straight characters who are not a couple, all of a sudden, the entertainment gossip sites are saying Lea Michele and Cory Monteith are dating, and Dianna Agron is back with the gay prince from Kings. Heh, like their handlers are thinking the actresses are coming off as too gay, so they parade them around with dudes to make them look more straight? I mean, I guess its possible, Hollywood is big into appearances.
geebs: (Default)
TV commentary:

30 Rock- What was with the obscure Annie references in this ep? I mean, it wasn't just once, they had another callback to it at the end, and even the end tag was a Mariachi version of the song. Although I suppose "NYC" isn't that obscure of a song for them to do. The most obscure song they've ever done is still "Top That" from Teen Witch.

b>Vampire Diaries- Heh, I thought Klaus and Rebekah seemed kinda hincky back in the 20s, but wow, he's got nothing on Kol. Geez, could he sound anymore jealous about his sister's liaisons? And ha, Elena moves fast! So now that both the Salvatores are messing with her heart currently, all of a sudden she feels sorry for Elijah and how he helped her out so much last year and he doesn't deserve to die like the rest of his family? She does realize he's totes in love with her because she's the spitting image of Tatia, right? It is funny they call it out with Rebekah getting all pissy with Elena because all the boys seem to love her.

Commercial to currently complain about: That one insurance commercial, where the guy says he hired those middle school girls to insult him and make him feel gross whenever he tries to eat something fattening and unhealthy in order to save money. Its not actually saving him money, because they don't say "EW! Gross! That's disgusting!" until he's about to eat, which means HE ALREADY BOUGHT THE FOOD! So he's not saving money at all, in fact he's wasting it even more, because he spent the money to get the food, and now isn't going to even enjoy it!

TV commentary:

Happy Endings- Pretty hilarious episode. And also "Nooooo!"-worthy, when Dave idiotically missed on the 3 with the hot freaky-sex chick (played by that one nympho chick in the SVU episode with Jeremy Irons. The first one, not the one with Juliet from Lost) and her hot friend. Max kissing his ex (BTW, the line about the bears was actually pretty damn clever) at the end was a surprise- I mean, most shows on network TV have their gays rather chaste when it comes to the PDA. Particularly with homosexual men. I mean, its not even until a couple of gay guys on TV are seeing each other for a while before something happens. And here it happened so nonchalantly!

30 Rock- Is it me, or is Mary Steenburgen pretty hot for someone who's almost 60?!

Vampire Diaries- So, in the beginning, when Beks was stalking Elena, and Elena accidentally backed in to her, I don't know why I found Rebecca's "Drive much?" to her so hysterical.

Anyways, the first thing the Originals do is throw a fancy party on their estate. Doesn't Mystic Falls find all these parties and celebrations exhausting? And while I'm sure the mayor got a lot of the town involved with the setup since she wants to get ahead of this and keep the peace/protect the town, but its not like there was a lot of lead time. Where did everyone find the time to buy fancy dresses and suits? At least Caroline's dress from Klaus. Did Elena have a fancy ball dress like that just lying around?! The tailors/seamstresses in MF must make a killing.

spoiler cut )

Secret Circle- Holy cow, how hot was Diana looking tonight in her skimpy little PJs? I think she's totally underrated on this show- the guys are all after Cassie or Faye, but she's pretty hot herself. And ha, Faye is totally jealous of Diana and Melissa. But I guess they all made up in the end. I'd like to imagine their little pillow fight led to sexy results.

Hmm, so in addition to releasing the songs the Friday before, now the show has started releasing some of the performances from the next ep on youtube? Its odd that Fox does the stupid 8 day delay for non-Dish/non Hulu-plus subscribers on all their shows, but they're fine with releasing the actual musical numbers beforehand? I guess they're trying to generate buzz. In any case, here's Brit doing Beyonce's "Run the World":

For one thing, just like when Rachel did Rihanna's "Take a Bow" way back in season one, this is one of those songs where I prefer Glee's version to the original. Though that seems to be the case with a lot of the more Urban music they do. Also, as I've said countless times before, HeMo looks infinitely hotter with her hair down. And finally, how the hell does Kurt have a chance in hell of winning the election after this? The chyx feel all empowered, and the dudes are mesmerized by the hotness.

Speaking of hotness. decided to try my hand at a "Hottest list". I've always found it very difficult to narrow things down to a certain number. But decided to just sit down and look at a list of all the TV shows I watch regularly, the music I listen to, the movies I've seen, other "hottest lists" and first grab all the ladies I liked on those, then take that list and whittle it down to 50 by choosing the ones I felt more strongly towards.

I don't want to say its a "50 hottest chyx list", perhaps it would be more accurate to call it my top 50 favorite hottest chyx: (in no particular order, because its hard enough shortening the list to just 50. Having to order them to would be un-possible!) under the cut )

I was too lazy to actually link to pics. If you're reading this, you have access to the net. If you're curious what one of them looks like, google it yourself! In any case, I put their ages next to them just to help me with seeing trends.

And what trends did I find? Well, I have a definite preference for brunettes- of the 50, 33 are dark haired, with only 10 blonds and 7 redheads. And it should be no surprise I favor the snowflakes- 44/50 are white, with the last 6 being equally split between Latina and Asian. Of course, I didn't count Alexis Bledel as Hispanic, even though she actually is, despite her fair skin and blue eyes. Odette Yustman might actually count as Hispanic also. But chyx like Selena Gomez and Kristin Kreuk are practically snowflakes so the numbers are nebulous.

Age-wise, only 2 are under 20 (but still over 18), with 27 in their 20s, 20 in their 30s, and 1 in her 40s. (Hmm, I wonder if I plotted it out, would it look like a bell curve?) It should be no surprise that 43 of them are younger than me, but hey 7 older, that's not too bad. Though I guess 29 of them were playing high school age characters when they first came to my attention. (Although I shouldn't really count Evangeline Lily, because I first had the hots for her on Lost, and it was only later that I found out she was an extra in Freddy vs Jason. But technically, the first thing I saw her in, she was playing a HS-er)

TV commentary:

Community- Hey, its Jo from Scrubs (wait, what the hell was her actual name?)! It took me a second to figure it out though since she had the sunglasses on (and kept them on the entire ep) but then I remember her tweeting about being in an upcoming ep of Community. Wonder if this was just a one-shot, or if we'll see her again, given the whole thing with Abed.

And weird, did they do some weird math, or did they make Jeff younger? That one tape, which Annie said was from '97, had Jeff saying he was 19, so he's only 33 right now? I thought he was supposed to be older than that? Or are they retconning things since Jeff and Annie have an undeniable chemistry, and its less creepy if there's only a 13 year age difference as opposed to a 16-17 year one?

30 Rock- Heh, when they first showed the grand-daughter, I was thinking, she kinda looks like Hit Girl, but that would be weird for them to have her guesting. But it was Chloe Moretz! (Speaking of, I finally saw Let Me In this past weekend. Weird, apparently the American remake didn't actually change anything, I could've sworn I read somewhere it did, unless I switched universes again) She's starting to look more teen than kid now though(which is no surprise since she just turned 14), will she be too old to play Hit Girl in Kick Ass 2?

Vampire Diaries- An ep full of shocks and surprises, as per usual. spoiler cut )

So, a number of chyx I follow on Twitter were remarking how they had made EW's 29 Female TV Character's you date list. (29? Who makes a list of 29?!) I was hoping it was an actual article, defining why one would date this character, but it looks like they just had fans vote, and these are the results:

29) Erin from the Office (Ellie Kemper)
28) Katie from No Ordinary Family (Autumn Reeser)
27) Orwell from the Cape (Summer Glau)
26) Britta from Community (Gillian Jacobs)
25) Lisa from V (Laura Vandervoort)
24) Emma from Glee (Jayma Mays)
23) Kate from Fairly Legal (Sarah Shahi)
22) Ann from Parks and Recreation (Rashida Jones)
21) Sarah from Parenthood (Lauren Graham)
20) Kono from Hawaii Five-0 (Grace Park)
19) Lois Lane from Smallville (Erica Durance)
18) Temperance from Bones (Emily Deschanel)
17) Juliet from Psych (Maggie Lawson)
16) Claire from Modern Family (Julie Bowen)
15) Amy Pond from Doctor Who (Karen Gillian)
14) Joan from Mad Men (Christina Hendricks)
13) Ziva from NCIS (Cote De Pablo)
12) Tami from FNL (Connie Briton)
11) Olivia from Fringe (Anna Torv)- Hmm, but not Fauxlivia?
10) Pam from the Office (Jenna Fischer)
9) Gloria from Modern Family (Sofia Vergara)
8) Penny from the Big Bang Theory (Kaley Cuoco)
7) Liz Lemon from 30 Rock (Tina Fey)
6) Lily from How I Met Your Mother (Alyson Hannigan)
5) Robin from How I Met Your Mother (Cobie Smulders)
4) Arizona Robbins from Grey's Anatomy (Jessica Capshaw)- Ha, is her name really Arizona Robbins? That's hilarious!
3) Annie from Community (Alison Brie)
2) Kate from Castle (Stana Katic)
1) Sarah from Chuck (Yvonne Strahovski)

Heh, its a fair list, but I was thinking there were more than a few hot datable chyx omitted from this list, but then I realized the characters were mostly teens, which I assume disqualifies them from this category.

TV commentary:

Those of you who know me could prolly guess the jokes that made me laugh loudest on Community and 30 Rock.

Community- spoiler cut )

30 Rock- spoiler cut )

Vampire Diaries- Hey, its Bela from Supernatural! You know, I thought she was fake British on Supernatural, because she was born here in the states, but apparently, no, the accent is real, as she moved to the UK when she was young. You can do that?! Why would you want to? Well, not knocking the UK, just why would you want to leave the states?

Now, this being a show revolving around a love triangle, obviously there's heated debated over which Salvatore brother should be with Elena. Now granted, I can understand people disbelieving Elena could ever really love Damon, as he was a pretty evil monster when we're first introduced to him. And for some people, all those people he killed, those times he messed with her friends, to them they feel those are all unforgivable acts and would be pretty angry if Elena chose him. Which is fair. But what I think is insane is people who think Damon doesn't really love her and how it rings false. Are they watching the same show? He is totally whipped by her!

Onto the actual plot. spoiler cut )

30 Rock- I dunno why, but I found that whole Geico joke extremely hilarious in that "Its funny because its true" ways. I mean, why the hell does Geico have 4 spokespeople?! The Cavemen, the Gecko, the money with the eyes, and the Rod Sterling-ish guy. Its not like one replaced the other, because new ones of each spring up from time to time. It just seems kinda weird to have all the different ad campaigns.

The Office- Oh, weird, new credits! spoiler cut )

With the new TV season coming up, I guess I should chart out the shows I watch for posterity to make sure I'm not missing anything:

Sunday:
8:30: Cleveland Show
9:00: Family Guy
9:30: American Dad

(or at least I assume its still the Mcfarlane block from 8:30 to 10:00pm, I dunno if they're throwing in some new sitcom in lieu of one of the other shows for the start of the season.)

Monday:
8:00: House, Chuck, HIMYM, 90210
9:00: Gossip Girl, The Event (even though I still think the show title seems totally pretentious)
10:00: Hawaii Five-0, which I'll give a chance if only for having Boomer prance around in skimpy bikinis (Or I assume she will, otherwise this show is stupid)

Tuesday:
8:00: Glee, OTH, NCIS
9:00: Life Unexpected
10:00: Sons of Anarchy

I hear Caprica is moving to Tuesdays at some point.

Wednesday:
8:00: Undercovers
9:00: SVU, Modern Family
9:30: Cougar Town

Thursday:
8:00: Vampire Diaries, Community, Bones
8:30: 30 Rock? (Is this its new normal time?)
9:00: The Office, Fringe, Nikita
9:30: Outsourced? I dunno if its any good, but since I'm already watching the rest of Must See TV Thursday, might as well check it out.
10:00: Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Friday:
8:00: Smallville
9:00: Supernatural

Of course, I think there are more than a few shows missing from that list, like I only mention the cable shows I know for sure when they premiere. I have no idea when shows like Justified or Burn Notice come back up, nor when Walking Dead is starting up.

So thought I'd answer the last two Writer's Block Questions of the Day:

1) If you could have one--and only one--wish granted in the next five minutes, what would you wish? How do you think it would improve your life?

Call me shallow, but I'd wish for $10 million dollars. They say money doesn't buy happiness, and it doesn't. But it does get you a whole lot of cool things! And really, I bet there are a lot of things you could wish for that you could get by having large quantities of cash.

2) What was your favorite childhood sit-com? Why do you think you loved it so dearly?

Hnm, my answer to that would depend on how you define "childhood". I mean, pre-high school, if I had to pick something, it would probably be Growing Pains. But if high school still counts as "childhood", then I'd have to say either "Married w/ Children" or "Wings".

Of course, a harder question would be what is my favorite sitcom nowadays. I mean, I enjoyed the last few iterations of Must See TV Thursday- the current Community-Parks and Rec-Office-30 Rock is incredibly solid, and I also liked it when it was My Name is Earl-Scrubs-Office-30 Rock. The second half of ABC's Wednesday comedy lineup- Modern Family and Cougar Town is equally strong. I still enjoy the Seth Mcfarlane portion of Fox's Sunday animation block, The Cleveland Show/Fmaily Guy/American Dad. And CBS has HIMYM. I'll just limit it to network TV sitcoms for now, or I'll be listing half a dozen more shows.

If I had to limit it to just onee, I'd have a tough time deciding between "The Office" and "Family Guy". I mean, in addition to comedy, The Office has all that shippy stuff. (Community and Parks and Rec are pretty shippy themselves, but they haven't been on nearly as long yet) But Family Guy (and Friends) are the sitcoms I can just put on in the background and still enjoy even if I've seen the episode a hundred times.

Speaking of Family Guy though, I do think it lucks out being the first and the original one of Mcfarlane's cartoons. I think there are plenty of people who watched an ep or two of American Dad or The Cleveland Show, not like the particular ep and just proclaim, "Oh, it sucks and isn't as good as Family Guy". I think that's debatable- on any given Sunday I think it can be a toss up on which was the best of the three that night. I think FG can get stale at times, and having a different set of characters on these other shows gives them a way to do other plot lines that work better with those characters.

You know, even though some people are weirded out that Zoe from Caprica used to be Original Egg, I thought she was kinda cute on Caprica. Plus, this vid of her licking a larley-pop is spcv('Nice!')

Also kinda hot? Megan Fox in the new Jonah Hex trailer.

Drove up to Miwaulkee (okay, Miwaulkee Tools on Jimmy Carter Blvd) for a brush kit for the cordless drill here at work. I did inquire how much their snazzy new 18v cordless drills run, because if we can find the money in the budget, I'd rather upgrade to the new ones, since they don't even make the one we have anymore (in fact, its three models obsolete, i.e. the next model it was replaced with was also obsolete, and the one it was replace with, and so forth). But alas, even if they'd approve it, they don't have a multi-battery docking station for the batteries for that model. And we can't use our old one because its for the old style Ni-Cad, and all their tools use Li-Ion now.

TV commentary:

The Office- The whole Michael hesitant to hang out with Erin at lunch for secretary's day because he thinks she's kinda a rube and doesn't get along with her rang false to me. Because previous to this, they seemed to get along just fine. I mean, like him, she's a big dork and a clod- back when Pam was secretary, she humored Michael, but Erin goes along with Michael's shenanigans because she doesn't know any better. I guess one could argue that he doesn't see himself as dorky and dumb as her, and thus she rubs him the wrong way, but that certainly wasn't the case with Holly. spoiler cut )

30 Rock- Regarding whether Jack should choose Julianne Moore or Elizabeth Banks, that is a tough one. Well, for me. I mean, they're both hot, but Banks is younger, though I've always had a thing for Julianne Moore. Like, I still think she's attractive even though she's about to turn 50. (See, there are chicks I find hot who aren't fresh out of HS or no older than mid-20s!)

Fringe- Pretty good ep. spoiler cut )

A comment by [livejournal.com profile] propace on FB sparked a convo about top TV characters one would want to bang. I've had a similar list on here before, but if its just want to do, I think my choices would change. I'd also have trouble settling on number one. So let's make it top 10, in no particular order:

1) Faith Lehane from Buffy/Angel
2) Saffron (yeah, I know that's not her real name, and Browncoats prefer referring to her as "Yosafbridge", but Saffron sounds hotter) from Firefly
3) Kate Austen from Lost
4) Starbuck from BSG (Kara Thrace, not Face from the A-Team!)
5) Remy "13" Hadley from House
6) Cerie Xerox from 30 Rock
7) Julie Taylor from Friday Night Lights (possibly in a threesome with her similarly lusciously melon-ed mother Tami)
8) Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls (again, possibly in a threesome with her blue-eyed, brunette mother, Lorelai, which I know breaks my similar heights/different hair rule, but I'm willing to make an exception)
9) Katherine Pierce (or I guess Elena Gilbert, though I'd prefer the vamp over her human doppleganger because I assume she'd be more naughty!) from Vampire Diaries
10) Santana Lopez from Glee (which would automatically include Brittany given their relationship)

Anyways, that convo sparked another convo about what TV characters would you actually want to date (surprisingly not started by me) but that list would go:

1) Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl
2) Rachel Berry from Glee
3) Annie Edison from Community
4) Taylor Townsend from the OC
5) Summer Roberts from the OC
6) Chloe O'Brian from 24 (Ida know, I've always been strangely attracted to her)
7) Chloe Sullivan from Smallville (I'd put the similar Veronica Mars, but she can be such a huge bitch at times, and not in the way I like!)
8) Elle Bishop from Heroes. (I know, isn't that a more insane and bitchier Kristen Bell character than the aforementioned Veronica Mars? What can I say, I'm a sucker for hot, broken girls)
9) Winifred Burkle from Angel
10) Adrianna Tate-Duncan from 90210

Is it odd that a good portion of my "want to do" list are sociopaths and/or killers, and my "deeper connection" list is mostly full of neurotics and weirdos, many of which have deep seated emotional and psychological issues?

So reading the TWoP weecap for this week's 30 Rock, there's a link to a their article on least accurate pr0n parodies. They are right to say the plot of the Bewitched one is ultra creepy! But hey, its got like half the chyx on my top 10 pr0n actresses list- Jenna Haze as Samantha, Teagan as Tabitha, dunno who Sasha Grey and Aurora Snow are supposed to be.

But half an hour to go til the weekend! Ah can't wait, particularly since I had to come in early to do some supervisory stuff that was totally taov('Ack-ward!')

Started reading Scott Pilgrim. Its a pretty cool read, I'm enjoying it so far. I heard they're doing a movie version with Scott Pilgrim being played by Michael Cera. I'm not sure if I can see that. I mean, Arrested Development, Juno, Superbad, he's dork-dorky and unconfident (I don't know how he is in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, I haven't seen it yet). Scott Pilgrim seems a little cooler than that. But I can see MEW as Ramona Waters.

30 Rock- Hmm, between this and Privileged, what's with these shows having Catholic folks going to church on Wednesday and Saturday nights? Isn't going to several hours of church multiple days a week a Protestant thing? I mean, its an hour of church on Sunday, plus any holy days of obligation. Some people, like my mom and aunts, will go to a morning mass daily, but I never heard of a Wednesday night mass (on a non-holy day of obligation). And people going on Saturday usually do so because they can't make it on Sunday. But on Privileged, when Luis took Sage to Saturday night mass, they made it look like some fancy affair, with a potluck dinner and wot-not, but its just like Sunday mass, only on Saturday night! I guess Elisa made Jack go because St. Valentine is a saint, but its not a holy day of obligation or anything. And what's with being able to take confession during mass?! There aren't enough priests nowadays for that! Churchs set aside blocks for confession, you can't just go in and confess! Ida know, TV just makes church look a lot more severe and time-consuming than it actually is in real life!

And what was that a recipe for that Liz replaced water with cheddar cheese? Stew?!

Heh, and what a koinky-dink, the blind redhead chick (yes, I'm linking to chickipedia when I can for less famous chyx so people can know who I'm talking about. Too bad the only pic on her entry is blah, since I thought she did look kinda cute in the ep) played Kenneth's wife on "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". Or was that intentional casting then? spoiler cut )

I'm annoyed that I haven't gotten my copy of GBA #7 yet. I was surprised they actually had it in stock, since its an older flick and I'm guessing they're up to the 20s if not 30s or even 40s (I have 18 and 20 and those are a couple of years old).

TV commentary:

Smallville- Why do they keep treating Metropolis like its friggin Gotham City? Cop guy's speech about how dangerous it is to be a cop would be more appropriate for Gotham City than Metropolis. Oh weird, I thought that doctor looked like Gaeta, and that's because it was Gaeta. Though it was weird he was just a background character and didn't even really interact with the cast. But if he's supposedly in Green Arrow's employ, I guess he might show up again.

And people were all, where did Lana get all them kung-fu skills during that nice and long catfight between her and Tess, but she's been able to kick ass for a while, whether it be some residual stuff from when she was possessed by that French witch or when Lex taught her how to fight when she was attacked by those frat boys way back in the early seasons. While it was a good catfight, it still loses to that Chloe/Lana one since it didn't end in the girl's locker room shower. Oh, and that was the ep with Missy Peregrym too!

And how is a powerless Martian Manhunter a super cop? I'm amused how Clark and Oliver will be all, "Thanks for getting me/us out of that mess with the cops by using your contacts", and just handwaving their troubles away. Those must be some pretty damn good contacts, because I can't see how one can easily fix some of the messes they get into with no consequences.

The Office- The whole Hilary Swank hotness debate was kinda weird. I mean, they didn't say anything mean, but I would think for her it would be weird to have a bunch of characters on a popular sitcom spend half an hour debating whether she was hot or not. As for me, it varies from day to day. Sometimes I think she is, sometimes I don't. spoiler cut )

Burn Notice- Is it me, or is Gabrielle Anwar totally ripped?! I mean, they've had her in skimpy outfits before, and I swear she's been in a bikini top before, but has she always had a defined six pack on this show?! Spoiler cut )

Okay, last night's 30 Rock gets bonus pints in my book for Kenneth doing "Top That" from Teen Witch. I mean, what a hilarious and totally obscure reference. Though, if he didn't mention it was from Teen Witch, how many people would actually know that? And what's with all the Teen Witch connections? Well, okay, I guess there's only that and then Teen Witch playing that one chick classmate of Liz who wasn't Casey from SVU, i.e. Robyn Lively, i.e. older sister of Blake Lively of Gossip Girl and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants fame.

EDIT: decided to lookup Top That:

Holy crap, that was so awful. I remember it being like really bad, but not that bad! But looking at links to related videos, I forgot how many musical numbers were in this film- "I Like Boys", "The Most Popular Girl", "Never Gonna Be The Same Again". And I remember those songs now and they're friggin stuck in my head. ARGH!
