Heh, had this amusing dream where I met Karen Gillan at a bar, and we hit it off, and she took me back to her place. Just to talk! But in the dream she was married to Jason Bateman, who caught us and thought we were having an affair. So he like dumps her and she's all sad and needs comforting, but alas, then I wake up.

But speaking of Karen Gillan, with it being a new year, I guess I should do a list of my top 10 (its too much effort to come up with more than 10) favorite babes of 2014. I say favorite, because there's too many expectations from saying "hottest", because then people are all, how could you rank x over y and all that jazz. At least by saying favorite, I'm indicating the list it totally subjective.

1) Barbara Palvin: still my favorite current supermodel. Pretty face, gorgeous lips, banging body (she is a Victoria's Secret model, after all), and you know how I like that brown hair/blue eyes combo.

2) Karen Gillan: Glad to see she still had a somewhat busy schedule post-Doctor Who. And looking totally hot in all the projects I'd seen her in in 2014. She was great in A Touch of Cloth, and of course Selfie. Still the most disappointing cancellation of this season. I'll miss her as Eliza Dooley strutting around in all those cute outfits looking all hott. Heh, even as a bald, blue alien cyborg in Guardians of the Galaxy, she was still smoking.

3) Nina Dobrev: My favorite Canadian vampire. A perfect combination of sexy and cute.

4) Alexandra Daddario- Who cares if her eyes are like, really, really blue that they're almost alien? As I said above, dark hair/blue eyes is my favorite. Plus, that one scene in True Detective is friggin awesome.

5) Evangeline Lilly: My favorite Canadian elf. She is like ridiculously pretty as Tauriel in the Hobbit movies. Too bad they made her character less kick-ass in the last movie.

6) Shay Mitchell: My favorite Candian Lesbian and Liar. Pretty and fit and you know how being part Flip always makes a girl slightly hotter in my book.

7) Shelley Hennig: From witch to were-coyote, she was a great addition to the already gorgeous ladies of Teen Wolf. I mean, it was sad to see Crystal Reed go, but they replaced her with not one, but two hotties in Shelley and Arden Cho.

8) Amy Acker: The girl who shares my exact birthdate, she's awesome on PoI. I mean, its always great when Amy plays the bad girl. Like she looks so sweet and innocent, and it works when she plays adorkable nerds like Fred, but somehow she becomes 1000x sexier when she's not playing the good girl role. But yeah, Root is bad ass, and is one half of one of my favorite OTPs.

9) Sarah Shahi: The other half of the aforementioned OTP. Shaw is a bad-ass in her own right, and I love her tough girl attitude. Shoot (or Raw, if you prefer) make quite the ass-kicking pair on PoI.

10) Anna Kendrick: Again, the brown hair/blue eyes thing. And, her being weird and dorky in real life amplifies her cuteness. Plus, she can sing, which is always a plus! Ah can't wait for Pitch Perfect 2.

Ha, I saw Buzzfeed did an article on The definitive ranking of Rory Gilmore's hairstyles. I think the crop was always my personal favorite, so I'm glad its in the top 5.

But yeah, they did choose well for the top 5. I forgot how pretty and cute Rory looked when her hair was long and kinda wavy.

Oh weird! So back in the day, I remember hearing about this hot chick from this series of body spray commercials being in an upcoming (at the time) show on comedy central called "Not Another High School Show". It was a parody of all the teen shows at the time, with her character playing "Spring", a version of Rachel Bilson's character from "the OC." I hadn't heard anything about it since, so I figured it wasn't picked up.

Cut to today, where someone posts a clip from the pilot: (and hey, there's the aforementioned chick at the :50 second mark)

Why did they post it, because apparently Alison Brie was on it playing a buffy type character? Also, Jennifer Lawrence shows up as a random passerby at the 1:42 mark. So the site is all, look at this pilot from years ago where beloved by the internet geekdom actresses Alison Brie and Jennifer Lawrence were on.

That is so weird to see those two in something like this! But I guess plenty of famous actors and actresses do lame projects before they hit it big.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy today. I enjoyed it, definitely a fun movie. VERY hilarious, lots of epic action and sad drama (whatever, if you don't get misty at anything in this movie, you're a G-D robot!), and tons of hotties. I'm amused that even as a bald blue cyborg, Karen Gillian is freaking hott! Not that Zoe Saldana is anything to slouch at either. But yeah, if you're into hot alien chyx of various colors (blue, green, pink, lavender, whatever floats your boat), this is the movie for you.

The only thing I found a little weird was Yondu. Like in the original comic, he was basically a Native American stereotype, but blue. Here, he's basically Michael Rooker the way he was in Walking Dead, i.e. a tough redneck. Still, I did like his little trick, its pretty bad-ass.

spoiler cut )

But overall, a really enjoyable summer action sci-fi flick.

So, Ask Men's Top 99 Most Desirable Women's list for 2014 is out. Here's the top 10:

10) Kate Moss
9) Margot Robbie (prolly fresh in the voters minds because of Wolf of Wall St)
8) Amy Adams (ditto, but for American Hustle
7) Kerry Washington
6) Kate Upton
5) Emma Watson (I don't care what certain people say, Emma Watson is cute)
4) Jennifer Lawrence
3) Emily Ratajowski (Did she get famous from the Blurred Lines video)
2) Alison Brie
1) Emilia Clarke

Annie Edison and the Khaleesi as #2 and #1? Sure, why not, at least its ladies I know of, as opposed to some random model.

TV commentary:

The Following- Ah, so that's what's going on. spoiler cut )

TV commentary:

Vampire Diaries: One thing I forgot to mention about last night's ep- How wicked mad cute did Elena look here:

TVD-5x01_shruggin

Also, its amusing that Elena still does the red streak in her hair thing. I thought that was only for when she had her humanity off? Not that I'm complaining, because color streaked hair is hott!

So what's up with people not knowing Karen Gillan was in this season of NTSF? Like I was looking through the Karen Gillan tag on tumblr and people were all, "Woah, how did I not know Karen Gillan was on NTSF?" expressing surprise that they had Adult Swim on the background and they heard her show up. Then again, I guess she's not really that famous outside of Doctor Who, and NTSF is like a 15 minute adult swim show that a lot of people have prolly never heard of, so those Whovians who are fans might not know this show exists.

Speaking of tumblr, it always weirds me out when I get new followers, since I feel I do more reblogging than actual content, so they would have only found me through some hottie photoset I made. So I feel slightly bad when they follow me, because they prolly only did it because of said hottie photoset I posted and followed me in the hopes of seeing more hottie photosets, and then they end up seeing my friggin tv show/movie ship bs more often than hot chyx.

Random thoughts:

You know, I still fluctuate on which one I think is hotter between Isla Fisher and Amy Adams? I mean, they're kinda similar looking. But I think in the end, Isla Fisher has the hotter body, but Amy Adams has the prettier face.

I was totally shocked when they said Eileen Brennan died the other day, because I thought she was already dead, like years ago. I mean, not in a I hadn't seen her in anything in a long time way, I just thought more of the cast of Clue were dead then there actually were. Like I mean, Madeline Khan definitely died a long time ago, but I swore Eileen Brennan died a few years later. I guess I also thought Martin Mull was dead, but that was obviously wrong. But yeah, I don't know why I used to think almost half of the Clue cast was dead. I coulda sworn until the other day, that there was more than just Mrs. White who had passed.

Suits- Does that chick from Center Stage ever play someone who's not an evil bitch anymore? spoiler cut )

Hmm, so I saw on tumblr that Tatiana Maslany was on Instant Star, looking all nerdy cute? Also, apparently Manny Santos and Dr Lauren were also on that show?! Like I didn't watch the show regularly, but I thought I caught enough in bits and pieces. I guess I woudln't have known Tatiana Maslany or Zoie Palmer at the time, but I can't believe I didn't realize Cassie Steele was on it. I guess that would be post-Degrassi?

This Mary Kate Wiles gifset [livejournal.com profile] voicelessloud reblogged on tumblr, I don't know what she's doing in the left middle gif, but it is freaking mesmerizing! I must know where its from.

I thought this was an amusing summary of Man of Steel.

ME blather- Almost done with the weapons- halfway through the locust, which leaves the shuriken and the executioner. But like I said, executioner has challenges under both SMG and Reckoning. I am 11 out of 15 under Collector mastery, so maybe I'll finish up the Weapons tab soon. Then I can go back to trying to finish up Machine mastery. I had been doing the Quarian female engineer to also get points toward Quarian engineer extractions under Rebellion mastery, but apparently both the males and females count towards that (same with the Quarian Infiltrators) I mean, I still have to use both the males and females towards machine mastery. But with the male I can use his arc grenades to get grenade damage points and finish up combat mastery a second time so I can start earning challenge points from headshots and melee again.

But yeah, finishing up machine mastery, I'm at 4 of 8 now. Going to do QFE and QME, and the Geth trooper of course. Which leaves one more. The QFI maybe?

Saw Hangover 3 with the usual suspects. Was kinda meh.

So the word on the street is that Karen Gillan has been cast as the main villain in Guardians of the Galaxy. Honestly, I'm not familiar with that portion of the marvel universe (I know who the Guardians are, and that's about it), so I'm kinda stumped as to who the hell she'll be playing.

Speaking of hotties, started watching Orphan Black since its free On Demand until the end of the year. I'm about half way through, and its been pretty good. Kudos to Tatiana Maslany for being able to play so many distinct characters. I said previously that Cosima is the cutest of the clones, but Alison is the most hilarious. (And dang, I love the suburban soccer mom yoga pants)

It was weird to see Sav from Degrassi as a random IT guy, and Emma as random secretary chick, and I totally didn't recognize that one female cop as Bo's mom Aife at first.

ME blather- Roughly 64 Turian soldier waves away from completing Commando mastery. Ended up changing my plan of which characters I was going to use for that, forgoing the Asari for the Turian soldier, since I could use his proximity mines towards the "turian proximity mine use" part of the challenge. Its kinda annoying that they differentiate between geth and turian proximity mine use, but salarian proximity mine use didn't count towards anything.

But yeah, since I could tackle two of the challenges with the turian soldier, decided to go that route. I hadn't played him in a while, but I got the hang of him. Main thing, don't use marksman all the time. I guess it was just habit from ME2 and using it like Adrenaline Rush. Most of the guns are good enough on their own, I only really need to turn on marksman to help take down an atlas or quickly kill a phantom or dragoon before they close in and kill me.

I also got a better handle on proximity mine whilst playing the salarian infiltrator, so I had re-specced my turian soldier to include proximity mine. I has skipped it originally because laying down mines isn't usually my thing. At least in this game. I mean, it was fine for games like MGS, where I'd set up ambushes with the things- lay some mines down, find a good sniper perch, and then after the blast wipe out the survivors. But solo-MP is a little too, intense for such things. There just isn't enough time nor enough good sight lines to lay such traps.

Proximity mine does work well as a makeshift grenade. Fire it at their feet, or the cover they're standing behind, and they should be caught in the radius. Plus, evolving it for "increase damage taken from all sources for X seconds" is pretty useful against atlases- pop the atlas with it, softening it up, then cut loose with the AR until the clip gets low, which should be about the same time the prox mine cool down finishes, then activate marksman to immediately top off the clip and go to town.

Concussive shot does work pretty well against phantoms too. But since Turians can't dodge, phantoms are pretty scary. Its like pop off the concussive shot and just spray and pray in their general direction until you can activate marksman and hope you managed to take them down during the duration. Else, run!

You know, I don't watch that Orphan Black show, but I see some of it on my dash. Is it me, or is Cosima the cutest of the clones?

Is it the glasses? The lab coat? Though I'm totes disappointed that she's American, so she doesn't have a hot British accent. (well, Tatiana Maslany isn't British either, but one of the clones is, and has the accent, just not Cosima) Plus, Cosima, its an interesting and unique name.

Also, is it me, or do Tatiana Maslany and Tina Majorino look like they totally could be sisters?

Ah, so I didn't realize the chick in that new CW series "The Tomorrow People" was Peyton List (The Lucy Lane one, not the Disney one). Nice to see her in something new. I guess CW is going full on teen drama next season. With this, and Reign, and in the winter, the 100 and Star-Crossed- which stars Aimee Teegarden and Malese Jow, also nice to see them in something new.

Still, despite having actresses I like, the concepts don't seem too interesting to me. I think the only new show that's piqued my interest is the Agents of Shield show or whatever its called. I realize now they prolly do have to refer to it as "Marvel's Agents of Shield", because if it was just Shield, it would prolly get confused with "The Shield". Actually, Intelligence with Sawyer and Ruby looks interesting enough, even if its kinda Chuck-ish.
geebs: (vain)
So this is a few months old, but to quote Chucky Manson, since I hadn't seen it, its new to me. Its the 15 celebs evolving as Pokemon thing, which for the most part seems to be actresses who have somewhat similar traits growing in breast size, like Molly Quinn into Christina Hendricks and Zooey Deschanel into Katy Perry.

Some I get (Justin Bieber to Ellen, Manny from Modern Family to Gabriel Iglesias, Sarah Hyland to Mila Kunis). But I don't really see how you go from Alexis Bledel to Zooey Deschanel. Like Ariel Winter to Alison Brie is inspired, but then I don't see how you go to Liv Tyler from that. I am amused by Emma Stone to Julianne Moore, since they did play mother-daughter (oops, spoiler!) in Crazy, Stupid Love. (The right combo of sexy and cute, indeed)

Hmm, so since Vanessa Lengies landed a regular role on that Mixology show, I guess Sugar is leaving Glee? I mean, she was sorely under-utilized, but she was awesome when she was around. Heh, her idea of send off is bring the fanon idea into the show that she's Brittana's daughter from the future. Which, while amusing, may be too much. Plus, half the audience prolly wouldn't get it.

TV commentary:

Doctor Who- spoiler cut )

Its that time of year, when people come out with their hottest lists. Because I'm lazy, I'm just doing a top 10. Which isn't that different from last year's top 10, with only a couple new entrants and some rearrangement. Links go to their tags on my tumblr:

1) Barbara Palvin- surprise, surpise, a blue eyed brunette. But yeah, I just love those lips and that smile. (among other things!)

2) Victoria Justice- Not to sound creepy, but unlike a number of former teen actresses, she did indeed grow up to be as hot as people suspected she would be. Its a shame she's not in more stuff.

3) Karen Gillan- Still my favorite redhead of the moment. After all, she's already way hott, but she gets the accent boost to her hotness, which kinda makes it unfair.

4) Nina Dobrev

5) Odette Annable- Yeah, she was #1 last year, but I will admit there is always a factor of "famosity" to these kinda lists, and unfortunately, she's just been out of my mind's eye since House was canceled. Apparently she was in an ep of New Girl this year, but that must be after I stopped watching it.

6) Katrina Bowden

7) Sarah Shahi

8) Ashley Greene

9) Alison Brie

10) Naya Rivera

Eh, I'm too lazy to come up with something clever to say for all of them, other than, "they're all cute and hott". I could do a top 25, or even a 40, but top ten is all I can bother to arrange.

So After Ellen's "Best Lesbian/Bi character ever" competition is in its final four. And who made their way to the semis? So, its Emily Fitch from Skins vs Santana Lopez from Glee, and Lauren Lewis from Lost Girl vs Emily Fields from Pretty Little Liars. No offense to Lauren, but I'd like to see Emily from PLL win. Mostly because no matter who wins in the Emily Fitch vs Santana Lopez match up, it will be amusing if either go up against her. If its Emily Fitch, its the battle of the Emily Fs, and if its Santana, its like who do you choose because Naya Rivera and Shay Mitchell are practically twins.

TV commentary:

The Office- What is this documentary that they filmed for 10 effin years before releasing any of it? Who would ever finance such a thing? Also, HRG's PR team or whatever you call them, suck, if they weren't wary about his wife and secret gay lover having a documentary crew following them around. I mean, even if they didn't get anything on the senator, Angela and Oscar are associated with the senator (and I call BS if none of his staff knew he was secretly gay, its their job to know everything), and I would think they'd warn the senator of associating with folks who may be in the public eye. Specifically for what exactly happened- that they'd be filmed doing things that would look badly upon the senator for being associated with them.

But again, call me lame, but I thought it was sweet that even though things have gotten real awkward between Pam and Jim right now, the promos for the show are making her remember why she fell in love with him.

ME blather- Completed the tech mastery challenge in MP last night, so I set my profile banner to "mathemagician". And hey, I've reached top 6% in the challenge leaderboard, I wonder how long it will take to break top 5?

The latest Team Unicorn video, "For the Win":

Hey, the girls look hot and geek references abound.

ME blather- So, the new Citadel DLC for ME3 dropped and it had basically everything I was wanting:

1) Wrex as a squad member? check. Sure, its only in the citadel missions, but I was pretty sure that was going to be the case, just like you can't play Aria and Nyreen outside of Omega. I was worried he'd only be a NPC, so I was thrilled that you could have him in your squad.

2) The ME2 squad mates as squad members? check. Well, its only in arena mode, but again, I suspected that would be the case. I mean, like Wrex, I was worried that the only appearance by them would be just more convos/cutscenes with them, but thankfully you can play with them. Alas, you can't play with Thane, Legion, Mordin, or Morinth though. And they kinda mucked up Kasumi's skills, taking away everything that made her unique (shadow strike and flashbang grenades) Its like, shadow strike exists in MP, why the hell did they trade that out for tactical cloak?

3) Speaking of, more face time with everyone? YES! Every character (well except Legion) gets new content. Heck, even Thane and Mordin get little things. Plus, more romance scenes! You kinda got screwed in the game previously if you romanced a non-squad member like Jack or Miranda. But now both ladies have as substantial content as Liara or Ash. Actually, you also got screwed if you were playing a femshep, because their options were lacking, and they got less content as well. But Citadel fixes that. Like femsheps who romance Garrus get more than the paltry bit they had in the game proper.

4) ways to make money? Finally! Between the arena, casino, and arcade, there's plenty now to do in between missions. I could possibly max all my weapons out without having to do a NG+!

Anyways, the dialogue throughout is hilarious, this honestly is the best add-on you could get for the game. Well, if you're a fan of the series, as its total fanservice.

Now, onto the plot of the DLC. spoiler cut )
geebs: (vain)
So I was thinking about the lyrics to Adele's "Rumor Has It" the other day, and I was thinking about the line where she was chastising the guy for I assume leaving her for a girl half his age. But since its on 21, she prolly wrote that song when she was around 20. So either this guy is close to her age, and is a huge pedophile, or he's older. And even 10 years older than her would still put the guy at 30 and if he was dating a girl half his age, that's still being a pedo. So, even if you raise his age to something where half his age is legal, then she too is practically half his age at that point! So either she can't really call him out if she is also half his age, or the guy is a sicko pervert, and good riddance anyways!

Heh, amusingly enough, my last few posts on my tumblr have been about hot chyx, and not corny-ass shippy stuff from shows I watch. cliffv('What's up with that?!')
geebs: (vain)
So one of my favorite new hotties of the moment is Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin. (I made a photoset!) You know my thing for blue eyed brunettes. And she has the cutest smile.

TV commentary:

HIMYM- Heh, did they really have Rachel Bilson just show up for a little two minute thing there at the end? I had totally forgotten she was with Ivy from GG. Its like the GG finale all over again! I am kinda glad they remembered that Rachel Bilson was the roomie of the mother.

But are you friggin kidding me with the Ted still pining after Robin thing? Hopefully this is the last of it, since the implication of his talk with Lily is that they'd make these confessions and just get it out there and never speak of them again. Its like, let it go show, particularly since we know she's not the mother!

But anyways, the flashforward, so it looks like at the very least, Robin and Barney have the ceremony, since she is dancing with her dad at the reception (the Mother is the bassist in the wedding band!). I mean, I was sure they'd get married, otherwise I think a good portion of the fans would riot, but there's a part of me wondering whether they were going to pull some BS where we see the flashforward to the day of Barney and Robin's wedding, but they don't end up going through with it.

ME blather- The Hammerhead looks cool and all, and its way more fun to drive than the Mako was, but damn if that thing isn't fragile. I heard someone refer to it as a glass cannon, but that implies the thing does big damage, but it doesn't! Owel, thank god I'm past Overlord. Hopefully the Firewalker missions aren't nearly as bad.

I've ended up taking Miranda along for most of the last few missions, because she's just too useful not to. I mean, since she has both overlord and warp, you're set for tackling every defense in the game. I was aghast that Tali doesn't have overload, but that's prolly because she gets energy drain when you get her loyal. That mission just unlocked, and I have enough spare squad points that I can immediately raise it to 3 once I get it.
geebs: (Default)
I think [livejournal.com profile] durlxnemesis was an Alexa Vega fan, so for him, here's a still from Machete 2.

I'm fine with Robert Rodriguez having done movies like the El Mariachi series and Machete, and also doing kid movies like Spy Kids. But having the girl from the Spy Kids all sexed up in Machete 2 is kinda creepy. I mean, she is grown up now, but he use to direct her as a little girl, doesn't he find it weird having her prance around in such a tiny little outfit?

AC blather- Hey, I've started getting assassin recruits in this game. One thing I like that they changed from Brotherhood is that your recruits have actual distinct personalities. I remember in Brotherhood, your recruits were just random people you bumped into, no personality at all, and it seemed like their names were generated by a random eye-talian name generator. All Giuseppe Marconi and Fernanda Valentini and what have you. They don't die permanently either. They can be defeated in battle, but that means you lose access to them for a little bit, they eventually heal back up.

But another thing I learned about the game, the synchronized view points don't cover the whole map. At first I was thinking, have I just not found the viewpoint for the area? But I learned that it was done this way purposely. You can get part of the map from viewpoints, but there are large areas without viewpoints that you'll just have to explore manually and fill the map in that way.
