Is it ghey that whenever I see My Best Friend's Wedding is on TV, I have to watch the scene where they all sing "I Say A Little Prayer For You" in the restaurant?

Anyways, I vaguely remember realizing a few years ago that the other debutante sister who wasn't Rachel Griffiths was played by Finch's gf/Arlene from True Blood. (Speaking of actresses on True Blood, I had no idea Holly Cleary was Julia Louise-Dreyfus' sister until a few weeks ago) But in watching the scene again a few minutes ago, I didn't realize Castle's mom was in this movie. Its kinda funny to see two characters who nowadays are known for their really red hair on the shows they're on totally not being redheads almost 2 decades earlier. Which, holy crap, the movie is that old?!

True Blood- Okay, I find it kinda hilarious that they have the yaks actually driving around in rice rockets. spoiler cut )

Also funny, they bring Dr. Ludwig back, because Sookie called her to see if she could fix Bill. And then she mentions how she's half fae, and if that could be why its progressing so fast. Dr Ludwig is all, I encountered a similar issue, and they contracted it from someone who's full fae and infected and it didn't progress nearly as fast. So Ludwig asks what's her bloodline, and Sookie is all, "Beats the hell out of me, lemme ask my Grandpa Niall" and the doc is all, "Oh, shit, I'm out of here!" Which is made all the more hilarious because she was going on earlier how she wasn't scared of shit.

The Leftovers- You know, I kinda wish I could quit this show, because its just so G-D heavy. Like there's so many intriguing things about it, but since the show is basically about a everyone in the world feeling a bunch of malaise, there's like not actually anything to look forward to because everything is so depressing with no seeming hope coming, or anyone to root for, because they're all so effed up.

But what the frick was up with the beginning of this ep? Jeez! And that's saying something, given how last week's ep began! spoiler cut )

So I finally checked out the season 2 trailer of the Originals from Comic Con:

It definitely looks eggciting. One advantage the Originals had over the parent show is given that the Mikaelsons are basically vampire gods, it gets to be a little more epic. Particularly since its all about power plays and the various supes vying for control on NOLA, so its more action packed than TVD.

But mostly what I enjoy about this is the Harvest Girl Esther possessed is mad cute. You know how much I love pixie cuts. (and not just so I can jokingly say, "I'd like me some of that, whatever that is") Well, originally that particular Harvest Girl had a pixie cut, but from some of the angles it looks like she just has it in an updo this season. Oh, weird, she was also one of Adilyn's sisters from True Blood.

Overall, I'm looking forward to the new season.

So, down in HH for my usual vacay with the fam. Cool, they finally have the remote control boats in the pond. Uncool, they've gotten stingy with the parking passes. They turned that lot to the right of the gate into "overflow" parking. So we got two passes one blue and one green- the blue can park anywhere but the green can only park in that one lot. Since I usually just ride with the fam once I'm here, I took the green pass and just left my car in that lot.

The finally tore down most of that mall, they left delk up, but it looks like they're building around the stores and turning the area into a strip mall style place. They also have like a super Kroger in that complex now, which was pretty huge.

TV commentary:

True Blood- What the hell, I guess its the last season, so they feel fine with killing off people willy-nilly. spoiler cut )

Saw the new Transformers movie with [livejournal.com profile] clevemire and K. Typical Michael Bay movie, lots of explosions and wot-not. Why the hell is Drift a huge walking Japanese stereotype? And wait, they drove from Beijing to Hong Kong? Isn't that a long ass drive? And wait, if Optimius had jet boots, why didn't he use those to get away at various times? And at the end, is he just going to fly wherever Lockdown was going to go through his own power? Lockdown was going to go wherever he was in a ship, and it sounded like he was using some fancy drive on his ship that had to spin up for 10 minutes. Optimus is just going to use his own thrusters to get there?

And isn't it ultra creepy for that Shane guy to carry around a LAMINATED copy of the law allowing him to date Katara? Were there scenes that were cut? Because like Sophia Myles suddenly reappeared in the middle of things, and then just left just as quickly. Like where the heck did she come from? Its like Marky Mark, and Katara and Rally boy and Stanley Tucci were busy fleeing from the Man in Black, and after they get out of the building and into a car, she's all of a sudden there in the car with them. And then she just takes her leave from them, telling Stanley Tucci she's proud of him.

TV commentary:

Glee- As I mentioned in my last post, they didn't mention how Finn died, and I'm fine with that. Some were complaining that they squandered an opportunity to teach the danger of addiction. Which, had they done that, I bet people would then complain about Glee always turning things into a PSA. Its not like randomly having Quinn get t-boned as an anti-texting PSA, or the school shooting ep that was really just Becky accidentally dropping a gun flew over so well.

To me, it was damned if they do, damned if they don't- and since people would complain either way, why go the drug route? It would be totally out of character for Finn, especially since that's how his dad died. What, he was gonna be all, "Oh, I thought my dad died a soldier most of my life, but I found out he was actually an addict and died from an overdose! I sure would like to start trying drugs to see what that was like!" Seriously, how pissed would people be if he just developed a drug problem and died off screen?!

And along the same line, it seems to ring false if they made up some other reason. Because if people were upset that they didn't do the drug thing, I think those same people would be even more mad if they white washed Cory's death (even though Cory and Finn are not the same person, one's a real person and the other is a character he plays) and had him die in some more favorable way. I think just not saying how he died and being all, "it doesn't matter how he died, only how he lived" was what would be the least controversial.

Tomorrow People- Finally caught this. It actually wasn't half bad. (Also, I'm amused that the male leads of the CW's lineup are related) And its nice to see Peyton List (the older one, not the one on Jessie. Which, I figured SAG rules would require one of them to change their stage name by now, like maybe include a middle name or something) in stuff, because she's cute. Also, I'm surprised homo superior isn't copyrighted by Marvel. spoiler cut )

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland- Also caught this. Not too bad- its a little more fantastical than OUAT since it doesn't straddle the real and fantasy world and contain a main character like Emma who refuses to believe. Which is good and bad- on the one hand it lets them go all out with the magic stuff, but on the other, the CGI can be pretty bad. It is interesting though, that they threw Jafar into the mix, because, why not?

Its also interesting because the Knave of Hearts was apparently in Storybrooke, so the White Rabbit's portals must cross time-space since they rescue her from Victorian-era England.

Filthy Sexy Teen$- I thought it was amusing, but it may be funnier if you're familiar with the shows they're mocking. Like when [livejournal.com profile] clevemire mentioned the show, he described it as a parody of Gossip Girl, but there's definite allusions to the OC and Pretty Little Liars in there. And hey, the evil girl is played by Amanda Leighton, aka two-faced Wendy from MIOBI, or the chick Naomi thought was into Max on 90210, or the chick Hanna was trying to hook Lucas up with on PLL. Nice to see her in stuff.

The other players include Tommy Mickens/LJ Burrows as the Ryan Atwood analog, Sam from True Blood and Penny from Happy Endings as the Cohen analogs, and Glenn from Walking Dead as the Chuck Bass type.

So Cracked did an article on 6 Horrible Aftermaths Implied by Movies With Happy Endings. And one of them is about Forrest Gump, and how he devastated that Bayou La Batre community- his boat was the only shrimping boat that survived, so with no competition, Forrest scoops up a monopoly on shrimping. After all, most shrimpers in that area aren't rich, everything they have is tied up in their boats. So its not like they can get a new boat and get back to shrimping right quick, they have to wait on insurance, and by the time that comes through, if ever, Forrest controls the market.

But, they showed that Forrest had a whole fleet of boats. I doubt he'd just come in with these boats, staffed by a bunch of outsiders, I'm sure he'd hire those other shrimpers. Sure, now they work for Forrest, but they wouldn't be out of jobs.

So down in HH for the yearly trip. They redid the floors and bathrooms. The pond outside, it looks like they're adding some sort of R/C racing boat thing to it. But its not ready yet. Dangit! The rest of the family showed up in the middle of the night early Sunday. Church, what's left of the mall (they've torn down half of it, only Belk is left). We had dinner at this rib joint called Hot Mama's, solely because its owned by some Filipina lady. Had the rib sampler, which included some chocolate BBQ ribs. They were okay, I mean, its kinda chocolately, which is not a taste you usually associate with ribs.
