So wait, that Finding Carter show on MTV starring Emily Fitch from Skins (I still need to watch that show) where she's kidnapped as a baby by L&O cop chick, but her parents are really Libby and Wesley Wyndham Price- she has a twin sister, and she's not played by Katie F*ckin Fitch? I mean, its kinda weird to have one half a pair of twin actresses having a twin sister, that's not actually played by her twin sister!

Also, not only did her parents name her a weird not-girl's name (Lyndon), her kidnapper also named her a weird not-girl's name (Carter)?

Ah, so I didn't realize the chick in that new CW series "The Tomorrow People" was Peyton List (The Lucy Lane one, not the Disney one). Nice to see her in something new. I guess CW is going full on teen drama next season. With this, and Reign, and in the winter, the 100 and Star-Crossed- which stars Aimee Teegarden and Malese Jow, also nice to see them in something new.

Still, despite having actresses I like, the concepts don't seem too interesting to me. I think the only new show that's piqued my interest is the Agents of Shield show or whatever its called. I realize now they prolly do have to refer to it as "Marvel's Agents of Shield", because if it was just Shield, it would prolly get confused with "The Shield". Actually, Intelligence with Sawyer and Ruby looks interesting enough, even if its kinda Chuck-ish.

Oh, weird, I did not know Arlene from True Blood was married to Ben Linus in real life. I guess that's why she was picked as Finch's love interest on Person of Interest?

Criminal Minds- Nothing much to say this ep, other than JJ was looking pretty fit.

I would comment on Supernatural, but its not up on the CW site yet! WTF?!!

Thing that has blown my mind for today: Jeremy Renner was Penn on Angel! So ND was making a comment about not realizing Hawkeye was in the new Bourne movie. So I decided to imdb him to see what the first thing I saw him in- I was thinking 28 Weeks Later, but SWAT was before that. But as it turns out, it was Angel! What the frick, and that's one of my favorite episodes too! It was the ep where Kate first finds out about Angel- someone has been killing people, and they think its Angel at first, but they eventually figure out its some random protege he had when he apparently wasn't hanging out with Darla, Spike, and Drusilla (and that random couple from the 3rd season premiere who they acted like had a history with Angelus and Darla). But I digress, I just thought the ep was cool, because on the show (and BtVS) up to that point, they've only shown regular people (not counting Slayer and friends) being attacked by vamps. I just thought it was interesting to see him stroll into the police station and wipe the floor with everyone there to showcase how dangerous vamps really are.

But I digress again, like I said, thinking about it now, that totally was Jeremy Renner! It just blows my mind he was doing random guest spots on Angel. But I guess everyone has to get their start somewhere. Amusingly enough, he's not the only person from MI:4 to randomly appear on Angel, lest we forget before Sawyer was on Lost, he was a random vampire who Angel dusts in the pilot for Angel.

Oh, Renner was also in an ep of Time of Your Life, which as I think I posted about a few months ago, I totally forgot existed. Time of Your Life being the JLH-centered spinoff of Party of Five (pgv('What the hell is Party of Five?!')). Once I started recalling it, I remembered that Jennifer Garner was on it after Felicity but before Alias. But I had no recollection of Pauly Perrette being on it. I mean, its hard to imagine her as anything but Abby on NCIS.

So, this is slightly early, since last year's list was posted only 9 months ago, according to the time stamps on LJ and tumblr. But I think I made the comment that when I released that list, it wasn't an ideal time. May-July is a good time, because one has had several months to ruminate on the hotness of TV actresses as you have a whole TV season to go by, and all the hotties in the upcoming summer movies have most likely been getting a push for the past couple of months as well. Its too hard to come up with a top 100, so screw it, I'm limiting it to a top 25 for 2012: (links go to their chickapedia entries)

1) Odette Annable- honestly, I just feel she would be the result if Megan Fox and Jessica Alba had a love child (and who wouldn't want to see them try and do that)

2) Nina Dobrev- she's got a really cute face and a smoking hot body. Nuff said.

3) Karen Gillan- One of the hottest (if not the hottest) redheads on the planet. The hot Scottish accent is just gravy. No offense to Christina Hendricks (who is still in my top 25), but my tastes still tend towards the petite.

Yeah, I know, the same top 3 as last year, only slightly reordered. But at least the rest of the list, there are people who weren't on here last year, and some significant movement on some of the ladies (up and down).

4) Katrina Bowden- She was voted Esquire's sexiest woman alive for 2011, and with good reason!

5) Emma Stone- Granted, her making it into the top 5 may have been heavily Spiderman influenced, but like I said, I really liked her look in this. The only thing that would make it perfect would be if she had glasses. And maybe the red hair.

6) Ashley Greene- I think I made this comment last time as well, but has she done anything besides the Twilight movies? I mean, I've seen most of the first, and maybe the last half of the third, but I haven't actually seen her all that much in stuff. Other than photo shoots I guess.

7) Alison Brie- You know my penchant for blue eyed brunettes (although is it really a penchant if she's the only one in the top 10? Olivia Wilde doesn't count because she's actually a natural blond) All the "bouncy" gifs help. And the fact she sings. And plays a neurotic brunette on TV and is part of one of my current favorite TV ships.

8) Naya Rivera- Lesbians apparently dig her (if her being #1 on the AfterEllen Hot 100 list is any indication), and so do I.

9) Olivia Wilde- Seriously, she has just got the tightest little body on her.

10) Victoria Justice- She's really coming into her hotness after turning legal last year.

11) Kate Beckinsale- Heh, you know, I think she may be the oldest chick on this list.

12) Amy Acker- I'm still curious why she's not more famous. She's a good actress, and like super pretty. I mean, she gets consistent work on TV and was recently in the Cabin in the Woods, but she was prolly only in that because of Whedon.

13) Evangeline Lilly- Its disappointing she's not in more stuff being all hot.

14) Leighton Meester- Again, hot neurotic brunette on a TV show I like. Or used to like, I'm still angry over that Dair stuff. But I digress, she has the doe-iest doe eyes.

15) Dianna Agron- The short hair was good on her this year. Especially when it was dyed pink.

16) Anna Kendrick- I just find her everyday cute. The singing helps, and you know I'm seeing Pitch Perfect in the theater. And buying the soundtrack.

17) Sarah Shahi- It took Fairly Legal to remind me how hott she is.

18) Aimee Teegarden- You know, I haven't actually seen her in anything since FNL, unless you count commercials for movies. I just think she's a pretty girl.

19) Anna Silk- Hey, she was a pretty good casting choice to play a hot succubus.

20) Mila Kunis- She's cool as hell, and hot to boot. Just gorgeous and funny.

21) Jessica Biel- I've said it before, but the Total Recall remake already has one thing going for it, it has hotter chicks in the female roles, between Jessica and Kate Beckinsale.

22) Krysten Ritter- I've actually found her strangely attractive since Veronica Mars, but she looks good in Don't Trust the B.

23) Christina Hendricks- The epitome of the voluptuous bombshell, I think.

24) Vanessa Hudgens- She was notably absent from last year's list (I have my reasons), but she's back on after prancing around in all those tiny bikinis for Spring Breakers.

25) Emma Watson- Whatever, Hermione is hot. I also like her pixie-ish do in the upcoming "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". And how slutty she looks in the upcoming "Bling Ring". (I did make two photosets of it on tumblr)

Some of you may be wondering, why aren't X or Y on here, because it does seem like there are some notable omissions. And there are superficial reasons for the exclusion of some chicks, which whatever, this is a list of my top 25 favorite celeb hotties, its supposed to be superficial. Like I've actually been slowly getting turned off Megan Fox for a while now, and BAG knocking her up sealed it. And Anne Hathaway does look hot as Catwoman, but then she hacked off all her hair for Les Miserables.

So apparently the First Annual tumblr TV awards are going on right now. So in the best ship categories its down to 5 couples: Faberry and Britanna from Glee, Sherlock and Watson on Sherlock, Dean and Cas from Supernatural, and Dair from Gossip Girl. Like this year's E!-online poll, only one of the finalists is a straight couple, but the rest are same-sex. Which is an interesting trend. Is it that people who vote in such polls (or are vocal about "shipping") tend to favor same-sex couplings?

And is it a sign that the world is more accepting of homosexuality, or that those that are accepting have cornered modern media? Of course, another data point is of those 4 same sex couples, only 1 of those (Santana and Brittany) are an actual gay couple. The rest are non-canon. And among those three, only in the Sherlock/Watson case did the show have characters outright ask them, "Are you guys gay for each other?" The other two couplings are just supposed subtext and only in the minds of some viewers.

The finalists in the other categories that are still open: under a cut )

It looks like voting has either ended on the other categories (or hasn't entered final voting)

So Hulu has added this optional face match feature to select episodes of a few TV shows so far (Glee, The Office, Wilfred, Lost and Modern Family. Though while I do enjoy Wilfred, I didn't think it was nearly as popular as those other shows that they would do this for it). Basically, if you have the option turned on, there'll be clickable boxes around the actors' faces which you can click to pull up info on them from wikipedia, as well as twitter and facebook links.

I don't know if its cool or excessive. I guess it depends on how far it goes. I mean if its just for the main cast, what's the point? Like the shows they have on this so far (particularly Glee) I already know all about them and follow many of them on twitter! I'd find this feature most useful for guest stars. Like if I saw a "That Guy/Girl" and wanted to know where I knew them from or wanted to know who some hot guest actress was, that would be useful. Of course, since this is on hulu, you'd be watching it through your computer anyways, so you could just do a quick imdb or google search to figure it out, Though I suppose the click on the face would make it extremely convenient.

TV commentary:

Sons of Anarchy- That was kinda underwhelming. spoiler cut )

Dynasty Warriors blather: I'm still all over the place when it comes to playing this game. I suppose its a good thing that I find that there's still so much to do. But yeah, do I work on titles, finish getting the rest of the nightmare weapons, etc. I do have all the chaos one, and the majority of the nightmare ones for the people I play most and/or that don't have useless elements. As for the final titles I've gotten them for these so far:

Lu Bu
Xiahou Dun
Xu Huang
Zhang Liao
Ma Chao
Zhou Tai
Guo Jia
Zhong Hui
Zhuge Liang (he's not actually a favorite character of mine, but I did need to be him to get Zhao Yun's best weapon)

The ceremonial robes look fine on most of them. It sucks that its only added as an option to their 1P costume. The only one it really improves is Zhou Tai. Because his armor looks cool, but in 7 he doesn't have a cape, so his outfit just doesn't look as cool as in previous games. But the ceremonial robes give him a cape! They also work for Lu Bu, I wouldn't say it makes his outfit look all that better, but its appropriate, kinda gives him this dark champion feel.

And it doesn't look bad on Xiahou Dun, Zhang Liao, Xu Huang, or Ma Chao, but its a bit ostentatious for them, it doesn't seem to fit their personalities. And it makes Guo Jia look a little too kingly. Which would be fine if he was a leader, but he's a loyal strategist. While his character is portrayed as a man who likes the finer things, he'd also find it as totally inappropriate to wear.

But it totally doesn't work for Zhong Hui. For one, I like the shawl thing he has going on, and the cape ruins that. And while this will sound like totally ghey, the cape also covers up his cool looking form fitting body armor and the crown his mop of hair. It would actually work on his new costume in XL that is basically just a blue version of Jiang Wei's costume.

TV commentary:

Once Upon a Time- I'm seriously confused about how much Regina and Rumpy actually know about the curse. I mean, logic dictates they remember everything. But for the second ep in a row, someone threatened them with "the courts". But if this is a cursed town no one can leave, can an outside court really do jack? I mean, I assume they mean some sort of county or federal court, given Regina is mayor and Mr Gold "owns the town", thus they have to be threatening them with an establishment that's outside of their control.

Oh, and Apollo bars! Guess they had to throw in a Lost reference there. I also didn't catch until someone pointed it out that the Dalmatian was one of the 101 Dalmatians.

So, a few posts ago, I did a Top 50 Favorite Hot Chyx list. Now that I've had time to ruminate, using that list, I came up with a top 10 list that's actually ordered and everything. cut for brevity )

So, the mean age of this group is 26, which actually meshes with the whole your age divided by 2 plus 8 rule. So maybe I don't show a preference for chyx who are way too young for me. I would go so far to say I like girls of the appropriate age for me!

But breaking it down again, I noticed they're all snowflakes, mostly brunettes, with just two red heads and no blonds. Well, unless you count Odette Yustman as Latina, and technically Olivia Wilde and Emma Stone are natural blonds, they just dye their hair to a color that works way better for them. [livejournal.com profile] clevemire jokingly(?) commented I need to come up with 250 girls to get better data. But alas, I've only come up with 164 so far. The problem with shooting for a particular number though, is at least when I was just coming up with girls off the top of my head, I could trust I really found them attractive. But if I have to think of 86 more girls, I might just be naming them to fill the spots.

Hmm, so in addition to releasing the songs the Friday before, now the show has started releasing some of the performances from the next ep on youtube? Its odd that Fox does the stupid 8 day delay for non-Dish/non Hulu-plus subscribers on all their shows, but they're fine with releasing the actual musical numbers beforehand? I guess they're trying to generate buzz. In any case, here's Brit doing Beyonce's "Run the World":

For one thing, just like when Rachel did Rihanna's "Take a Bow" way back in season one, this is one of those songs where I prefer Glee's version to the original. Though that seems to be the case with a lot of the more Urban music they do. Also, as I've said countless times before, HeMo looks infinitely hotter with her hair down. And finally, how the hell does Kurt have a chance in hell of winning the election after this? The chyx feel all empowered, and the dudes are mesmerized by the hotness.

Speaking of hotness. decided to try my hand at a "Hottest list". I've always found it very difficult to narrow things down to a certain number. But decided to just sit down and look at a list of all the TV shows I watch regularly, the music I listen to, the movies I've seen, other "hottest lists" and first grab all the ladies I liked on those, then take that list and whittle it down to 50 by choosing the ones I felt more strongly towards.

I don't want to say its a "50 hottest chyx list", perhaps it would be more accurate to call it my top 50 favorite hottest chyx: (in no particular order, because its hard enough shortening the list to just 50. Having to order them to would be un-possible!) under the cut )

I was too lazy to actually link to pics. If you're reading this, you have access to the net. If you're curious what one of them looks like, google it yourself! In any case, I put their ages next to them just to help me with seeing trends.

And what trends did I find? Well, I have a definite preference for brunettes- of the 50, 33 are dark haired, with only 10 blonds and 7 redheads. And it should be no surprise I favor the snowflakes- 44/50 are white, with the last 6 being equally split between Latina and Asian. Of course, I didn't count Alexis Bledel as Hispanic, even though she actually is, despite her fair skin and blue eyes. Odette Yustman might actually count as Hispanic also. But chyx like Selena Gomez and Kristin Kreuk are practically snowflakes so the numbers are nebulous.

Age-wise, only 2 are under 20 (but still over 18), with 27 in their 20s, 20 in their 30s, and 1 in her 40s. (Hmm, I wonder if I plotted it out, would it look like a bell curve?) It should be no surprise that 43 of them are younger than me, but hey 7 older, that's not too bad. Though I guess 29 of them were playing high school age characters when they first came to my attention. (Although I shouldn't really count Evangeline Lily, because I first had the hots for her on Lost, and it was only later that I found out she was an extra in Freddy vs Jason. But technically, the first thing I saw her in, she was playing a HS-er)
geebs: (Default)
So Buddy TV came out with a TV's 100 Sexiest Women of 2010. While I approve of many of the chyx on this list, I disagree with the rankings of many of them, particularly compared with the placements of others. Also, the absence of certain chyx. Anyways, here's the top 10:

10) Heather Morris, Glee: Actually Brit's not the only Glee girl on this list. Lea Michele (Rachel) was at 98, Dianna Agron (Quinn) at 50, and Naya Rivera (Santana) at 23.

9) Evangeline Lilly, Lost: Well, obviously. But did Lost only end this year?

8) Katie Cassidy, Gossip Girl and Melrose Place: Didn't watch Melrose, but she was definitely a nice looking edition to GG.

7) Tamara Taylor, Bones- No offense to Dr. Saroyan, she's attractive, but top 10 attractive?

6) Eva Longoria Parker, Desperate Housewives- Wait, when did she start going by Longoria-Parker? Amusing that I only hear about it when she's prolly not going to be going by that any more!

5) Kaley Cuoco, Big Bang Theory

4) Padme Lakshimi, Top Chef

3) Christina Hendricks, Mad Men

2) Sofia Vergara, Modern Family- Heh, two huge racked chyx in a row?

1) Yvonne Strahovski, Chuck- She's hot and all, but is she really #1 hot? (Particularly with the pic they chose! You'd think they'd try to get something more flattering if they're gonna proclaim her #1)

Saw this amusing vid today:

Its a video of dancing from multiple TV shows and movies, including my favorite scene in 500 Days of Summer. But yeah, I like it, because I never imagined Supernatural, Labyrinth, the Misfits, Little Miss Sunshine, Love Actually, Community, Misfits, Firefly, and Harry Potter referenced in the same video, particularly one about dancing. No Glee though, but I guess that would be too obvious.

You know, I had seen the "allisonscag4cassie" trending topic on twitter the other day, but had no idea what it meant. So then when I was trying to look up why Allison Scagliotti would be writing an intro to an upcoming "Hack/Slash" according to her twitter I learned apparently there's a push by internet nerds to have her play Cassie Hack in the movie version of "Hack/Slash" (if it ever gets made!). (well, I guess its not just them, she's friends with the writer, and they both think she could do it as well)

And, I don't know what to think about that. I think she has the right attitude and sass, but while I do certainly think she's cute and all, I think she's a different kinda of attractive. I mean, I can't imagine her in the kinda outfits you see Cassie running around in. Okay, I can. ("heh.") But it would be like seeing Felicia Day, Alyson Hannigan, or Allison Mack running around like that. They're all cute chyx (I grouped them together since I assume they have the same type of appeal), but it just doesn't seem "them". I mean, when I think real-life Cassie Hack, I think someone who looks like Stoya or Megan Fox or something. But maybe that's because the comic is ridiculously fan-service-y. I guess it depends on what the movie is going for. I can see the movie working with either AScag or the Fox, but they'd be totally different movies, I think.

TV commentary:

Lost- Saw the "twelve minutes". It answers many of the questions people have. Though not all of them, and the answers they give might not be satisfactory to some, but they're answers!

Oh, random webbing the other day, you know, I had no idea you could connect the Autobot and Decepticon combiner leaders (Silverbolt, Motormaster, Onslaught, Hotspot) to Metroplex and Trypticon's city modes? Apparently, it was a feature left out of the instructions! I had Metroplex and all the Aerialbots! If I knew that in addition to them forming Superion, you could connect them to Metroplex (because apparently you can also connect Combiner limbs to Metroplex's robot mode) in all sorts of different ways, I would've thought that was totally awesome! I mean, you already have 5 robots that can combine to form an even bigger robot, but to learn you could connect them to other robots as well?

I thought this was an amusing article: Fan made credit sequences that are way better than the ones used by the show.

Although all the shows they mention lack the normal credit sequences, so there's nothing for these things to actually be better than. But, still, they are pretty well-made. The Lost one is pretty clever, in particular, I think it does kinda mesh with the feel of the show.

3500th post!

Wow, and to think one of my first entries (almost a decade ago!) I was remarking how I'd post a few things here, get bored and forget about it.

TV Commentary:

Lost- Anyways, I forgot to mention one of the most hilarious parts of the Lost finale, Jack's flying death punch:

Seriously, what was up with that? I can't decide if its totally ridiculous or totally awesome. I know, poll time:

[Poll #1569554]

So if Jack had busted out some Island mojo enhanced moves against Smokey (perhaps with The Glow playing in the background), would people have checked out right then and there instead of waiting until the end to be pissed off? (even though I still say the ending was satisfying!)

HIMYM- You know, if I actually cared about that Don guy, maybe the whole thing with him choosing his career over Robin after she made the exact opposite choice and actually opened up the position he was offered would have some sort of impact. As it was, for me it was "finally, he's gone!" As I've said before, if you want me to care about some coupling show me why they're a good couple, don't just have everyone say, "Hey, they're a great couple!" and make me take them at their word.

Anyways, as much as I enjoy Rock Band, obviously my favorite part to do is the vocals. Even though I can never fully rock out like you're meant to- the parts of the vocals where you're not being scored and just have to shout "Yeah!" or "Ow!" or what have you, I can't not feel self-conscious and ridiculous. At least if its a part with a bar, then its a part of the game. But when you're just free-forming it? I'm just way too uptight to do that!

But I digress. While Rock Band was the obvious step forward for Harmonix as it is a cooler party game than their "Karaoke Revolution" series, it doesn't lend itself to all music. Like they do have a Lady Gaga DLC track pack, but I don't think you could really do something as equally awesome like ABBA or Madonna. I'd love to be able to do something like "Mamma Mia" or "Papa Don't Preach". prv('You know how I know you're gay? You want to sing "Mamma Mia" or "Papa Don't Preach" on Rock Band') But yeah, I think it'd be fun for the vocalist, but what does the rest of the band get to do?

Oh, even though I still suck at the instruments, I'm learning to do it more aurally than visually. Obviously there's an audio and video component to it, but once you think of it in terms of the sound rather than hitting the red button when it shows up, it becomes way easier to do. Of course, I still think people who play the instrument on expert are some kinda crazy magicians.

TV Commentary:

Lost-

Lost Characters by Surname- Infinitely easier than the IGN's Ultimate Lost Quiz in my opinion, but I've always had a knack for TV character names.

"Why Isn't There More Effing on This Island", by Garfunkel and Oates (i.e. Ted's gf on Scrubs and that blond chick who's in a bunch of stuff)

Burning questions from the Finale- The majority of them are legitimate questions, though, "How much did the Widmores have to pay Driveshaft to do a concert with their weirdo son?" I'm not so sure about. I mean, in the sideways, wasn't Driveshaft still in a slump? But even then, if the guy who sold shoddy body armor to the US military can get Aerosmith and P. Diddy to play at his daughter's sweet 16 in real life, I would think rich people can easily get famous bands for private events. And wasn't it some sort of weird charity benefit anyways, so its even less frivolous!

Alternate endings to Lost that I mentioned in a previous post, in case you live under a rock and didn't see this on the post-Lost Kimmel show.

24- Another long running and acclaimed series that has just came to an end. But first, my last ever 24 weapons complaint. So, the second half of the penultimate hour, Jack sets up his sniper position across the way from the UN. Anyways, his weapon of choice? An FN SCAR. Which would be fine if he wasn't using the L-version chambered in 5.56mm (you can tell by the magazine) rather than the more sniping appropriate H model in 7.62mm. 5.56mm does have a place in sniping, mainly law enforcement applications at ranges between 100-200 yards. But at the distance Jack was, trying to shoot through glass?! That 5.56mm would fail to have his desired effect (which I assume is to kill someone)!

Anyways, while it is a pretty looking gun, it is kinda curious why he picked it. I mean, when he went into vengeance mode, the weapons he got from Mr Blond to supplement his usual HK USP Compact were a couple of MP7s, a Taurus Judge, a Mossberg pump action, a Colt M933, a M26 shotgun converted for standalone use, and the SCAR-L. As I said in my last 24 post, it was weird that he didn't mount the M26 under the assault rifle so he didn't have to carry 2 separate weapons, but choosing a 933 and the SCAR-L doesn't make much sense either. I mean, the 933 would serve as a very compact assault weapon, why would he need a full sized assault rifle in addition? I mean, he was using the SCAR as a sniping weapon, and with the longer barrel and bipod, obviously its a more accurate weapon, but like I said, there are better tools for the job. I mean, he could've just gone with the SCAR-L in lieu of the 933, since its got the interchangeable barrels, and with the folding stock, a short barreled SCAR would be comparable in compactness. Then when he switched to using it as a sniper weapon, he just needed to change out the barrels. That's less weapons for him to carry, which would be important considering HE'S BEEN ON THE RUN FOR THE LAST FEW HOURS! hmm, I wonder if the M26 can mount under the SCAR? I would think it could, since the SCAR also has Picatinny rails under the barrel.

So all in all, if he used a SCAR-H, and mounted the m26 under that, that's even less weapons he needed to carry. I mean, for the limo ambush, the SCAR-H in CQB mode would have been way handier, since the 7.62 rounds would be much more effective against vehicles and armor. Then when he wanted to use it for sniping, the 7.62mm round would once again be a superior caliber choice.

But I digress. spoiler cut )

More Lost blather:

The skits on the post-Lost Jimmy Kimmel show were kinda funny (although the whole making fun at the Sopranos ending has been overly done as of late, though they get points for production quality. Heh, were those multiple Richards?), and I'm amused that they were able to get ex-guest stars to lurk there in the background mysteriously every so often.

More Lost gabbery: (taken from my FB):

Oh, I also think Lindelof and Cuse purposely left certain things in the air because they decided they'd rather have people up pissed off at them for leaving things unanswered instead of giving a definitive answer and have people mad about how stupid the answer was. (look what happened with BSG- Lost's ending was infinitely more satisfying)

Yeah, its still kinda a cop out. But for me, some of the unanswered Qs, they drop enough hints that you can interpret your own answer out of them. I mean, it would be better to learn exactly "this is what X is", but I'm satisfied with thinking, "I think this is what X is".

So overall, I didn't feel like I was left hanging, but I can totally see why other people would feel they were. And I think its also dependent on what people were more invested in on the series. As a story about the journey of the characters, I think the conclusion was perfectly satisfying. But in terms of the mythos the show set up, I think people were left wanting.

But to elaborate on my points up there, from a sci-fi geek standpoint, I do think in the long run its better to have people dissatisfied that certain things were unanswered, allowing for nerds to debate about what certain things really meant than to give a definitive answer and have people be all, "this was effin stupid!" Sure, some people will just be all, "Oh, those effers didn't know what they were doing and they never had answers" but I can't fault Lindelof and Cuse too much because when you make a show like this, no way was the ending going to live up to the hype. I mean, you could hope it would, but I think the ending was "good enough" rather than "bad". To me, they answered enough, and they wrapped up the characters' storylines just fine.

I do think there are a few things that people think were unanswered but were, but that wasn't satisfying enough for them so they continue to believe they were unanswered. spoiler cut )

I think there were cases where viewers were kinda hoping the answer was X, proving their theory was right, but since they never got confirmation, they feel let down because they don't have the satisfaction of being able to yell "I knew it!". But isn't it better to think your answer could be the way things are rather than learn you were wrong and the real answer is totally stupid? I think I remember hearing an interview with Lindelof and Cuse said they were gonna do what they exactly ended up doing. There were just so many theories out there that were pretty good that they figured no matter what they do, someone is gonna be pissed off and think they did it wrong. Sure, that kinda seems that they were making crap up as they went along. And I don't think that's the case- they made up the world as they went along, but the heart of the story- the characters' journeys and experiences, I think they progressed over a perfectly reasonable arc from start to conclusion. So from the perspective of people like Jack and Locke trying to figure out their life and fix the hole they feel, overcome that flaw that every one of the characters seems to possess, does it matter what the island really truly is?

So the ex-roomie had a cookout before the Lost finale, so got extremely stuffed on skirt steak and sausage and ribs and ice cream and peach cobbler and butter pecan ice cream pie. Also got in some Beatles Rock Banding before the Lost stuff started.

Lost- I thought it was a pretty good ending. Definitely way better than the BSG ending. I mean, I think there were plenty of things left unanswered, but the show had a satisfying conclusion. I should be sleeping right now, but looking at the forums, many people were too stupid to understand what went on there, so they were displeased. I mean, if it wasn't their cup of tea fine (and I can see some people being dissatisfied) but if you're going to hate it, at least understand it. excuse me while I rant! )

Had pre-Lost dinner at Ipp's with the usual suspects. [livejournal.com profile] propace tried the Aglio-e-olio sauce (Olive oil, garlic, capicolla ham & crushed red pepper) on his pasta. That did catch my eye on the menu, but I wasn't feeling adventurous enough to try it.

Lost- Last ep before the 2 and a half hour season finale this Sunday! spoiler cut )

Glee- Some cool performances tonight in this Joss Whedon-directed, NPH guesting ep. You know, my first watch through, I didn't realize Brittany was one of the dancers during the Safety Dance scene (well, I didn't notice Kurt or Mercedes there either, I still don't know if the others were there). Prolly because she had her hair down. I dunno what it is, but she's like way hotter with her hair down. spoiler cut )

So I'm finally moved in to my new office. But the machine room is so loud I find I have to close the door
