3500th post!
Wow, and to think one of my first entries (almost a decade ago!) I was remarking how I'd post a few things here, get bored and forget about it.
TV Commentary:
Lost- Anyways, I forgot to mention one of the most hilarious parts of the Lost finale, Jack's flying death punch:
Seriously, what was up with that? I can't decide if its totally ridiculous or totally awesome. I know, poll time:
[Poll #1569554]
So if Jack had busted out some Island mojo enhanced moves against Smokey (perhaps with The Glow playing in the background), would people have checked out right then and there instead of waiting until the end to be pissed off? (even though I still say the ending was satisfying!)
HIMYM- You know, if I actually cared about that Don guy, maybe the whole thing with him choosing his career over Robin after she made the exact opposite choice and actually opened up the position he was offered would have some sort of impact. As it was, for me it was "finally, he's gone!" As I've said before, if you want me to care about some coupling show me why they're a good couple, don't just have everyone say, "Hey, they're a great couple!" and make me take them at their word.
Anyways, as much as I enjoy Rock Band, obviously my favorite part to do is the vocals. Even though I can never fully rock out like you're meant to- the parts of the vocals where you're not being scored and just have to shout "Yeah!" or "Ow!" or what have you, I can't not feel self-conscious and ridiculous. At least if its a part with a bar, then its a part of the game. But when you're just free-forming it? I'm just way too uptight to do that!
But I digress. While Rock Band was the obvious step forward for Harmonix as it is a cooler party game than their "Karaoke Revolution" series, it doesn't lend itself to all music. Like they do have a Lady Gaga DLC track pack, but I don't think you could really do something as equally awesome like ABBA or Madonna. I'd love to be able to do something like "Mamma Mia" or "Papa Don't Preach". prv('You know how I know you're gay? You want to sing "Mamma Mia" or "Papa Don't Preach" on Rock Band') But yeah, I think it'd be fun for the vocalist, but what does the rest of the band get to do?
Oh, even though I still suck at the instruments, I'm learning to do it more aurally than visually. Obviously there's an audio and video component to it, but once you think of it in terms of the sound rather than hitting the red button when it shows up, it becomes way easier to do. Of course, I still think people who play the instrument on expert are some kinda crazy magicians.
