TV Commentary:
Lost-
Lost Characters by Surname- Infinitely easier than the IGN's Ultimate Lost Quiz in my opinion, but I've always had a knack for TV character names.
"Why Isn't There More Effing on This Island", by Garfunkel and Oates (i.e. Ted's gf on Scrubs and that blond chick who's in a bunch of stuff)
Burning questions from the Finale- The majority of them are legitimate questions, though, "How much did the Widmores have to pay Driveshaft to do a concert with their weirdo son?" I'm not so sure about. I mean, in the sideways, wasn't Driveshaft still in a slump? But even then, if the guy who sold shoddy body armor to the US military can get Aerosmith and P. Diddy to play at his daughter's sweet 16 in real life, I would think rich people can easily get famous bands for private events. And wasn't it some sort of weird charity benefit anyways, so its even less frivolous!
Alternate endings to Lost that I mentioned in a previous post, in case you live under a rock and didn't see this on the post-Lost Kimmel show.
24- Another long running and acclaimed series that has just came to an end. But first, my last ever 24 weapons complaint. So, the second half of the penultimate hour, Jack sets up his sniper position across the way from the UN. Anyways, his weapon of choice? An FN SCAR. Which would be fine if he wasn't using the L-version chambered in 5.56mm (you can tell by the magazine) rather than the more sniping appropriate H model in 7.62mm. 5.56mm does have a place in sniping, mainly law enforcement applications at ranges between 100-200 yards. But at the distance Jack was, trying to shoot through glass?! That 5.56mm would fail to have his desired effect (which I assume is to kill someone)!
Anyways, while it is a pretty looking gun, it is kinda curious why he picked it. I mean, when he went into vengeance mode, the weapons he got from Mr Blond to supplement his usual HK USP Compact were a couple of MP7s, a Taurus Judge, a Mossberg pump action, a Colt M933, a M26 shotgun converted for standalone use, and the SCAR-L. As I said in my last 24 post, it was weird that he didn't mount the M26 under the assault rifle so he didn't have to carry 2 separate weapons, but choosing a 933 and the SCAR-L doesn't make much sense either. I mean, the 933 would serve as a very compact assault weapon, why would he need a full sized assault rifle in addition? I mean, he was using the SCAR as a sniping weapon, and with the longer barrel and bipod, obviously its a more accurate weapon, but like I said, there are better tools for the job. I mean, he could've just gone with the SCAR-L in lieu of the 933, since its got the interchangeable barrels, and with the folding stock, a short barreled SCAR would be comparable in compactness. Then when he switched to using it as a sniper weapon, he just needed to change out the barrels. That's less weapons for him to carry, which would be important considering HE'S BEEN ON THE RUN FOR THE LAST FEW HOURS! hmm, I wonder if the M26 can mount under the SCAR? I would think it could, since the SCAR also has Picatinny rails under the barrel.
So all in all, if he used a SCAR-H, and mounted the m26 under that, that's even less weapons he needed to carry. I mean, for the limo ambush, the SCAR-H in CQB mode would have been way handier, since the 7.62 rounds would be much more effective against vehicles and armor. Then when he wanted to use it for sniping, the 7.62mm round would once again be a superior caliber choice.
But I digress. So, Chloe finally manages to talk Jack down by saying this isn't what Renee would have wanted. Heh, so he makes her shoot him so people will be less suspicious of her and she can sneak away with the memory card. But then Mr Dominic (I still can't recall his name on this show) sees that the shot was a "through and through" and didn't hit anything vital and gets suspicious of her.
But heh, its not like she was skilled enough to make a shot. In fact, Jack kept shouting at her and its a miracle she didn't end up accidentally killing him. So, through shear dumb luck, she manages to minorly wound Jack, but apparently since he was only minorly wounded they were all, "she must be in league with him!" Well, she was, its just silly that she shouldn't have actually been discovered.
But wow, Taylor can be rjv('Cold Blooded!') I was wondering how in the world the peace treaty would still go on once Dahlia found out, but wow, I never thought Taylor would leverage the thwarted attempt to set off a dirty bomb to blackmail her. I mean, it was done by rogue elements of her country, but Taylor threatened to use it to give grounds for a strike against the IRK if Dahlia withdrew from the peace process?
However, I guess it was good that they did confiscate the card from Chloe, since it was what finally convinced Taylor of the error of her ways. I think her fessing up to a conspiracy and resigning was altogether better than Chloe sending the video to all those people.
In any case, why the hell did Logan have to kill Dominic? Was it just an F-U to stop the prez from trying to stop Jack from getting assassinated? But he could've just killed himself. I'm kinda amused he can't even do that right! So he's in a coma, and will prolly have permanent brain damage when he wakes up. Though, with the wounds people on this show survive, he'll prolly be fine! I mean, he survived what seemed to be a fatal stabbing by his ex-wife!
Owel, so in the end Jack is on the run. Because apparently he's less culpable then everyone else despite all the BRUTAL MURDERS he committed over the last few hours. Yes, I guess the prez warned him because the Russians will prolly kill him if they find him, so if he turned himself in, he'd die pretty quickly. But Taylor's lying in the bed she made, why doesn't Jack have to? I mean, that's what you get when you go rogue and slaughter a bunch of people!
But okay, I did think the tearful goodbye between Chloe and Jack was kinda sweet. No, not in a shipping kinda way! His new love was tragically gunned down not a few hours before, she's has a kid with a husband she loves! But like they said, she's been the one constant in his life, the one who had his back for all these years. I think she's the oldest friend he has left!
Chuck- So Ellie finally knows everything! But damn, I friggin knew as soon as her dad was all, "don't worry, once I get back, I'm never leaving you again!" that he was toast.
Anyways, clever how Shaw managed to discredit them all. We thought that one guy with Ellie was a ring agent who took her to a ring facility, but nope, its an actual CIA facility, and he's just a double agent. Well, all ring agents were supposed to be turncoats, but we're so used to seeing them have their own facilities that it was a clever twist.
I was amused by both Shaw and Chuck both doing the "Mwa ha ha!" evil mastermind laugh. But really, did Shaw not see Quantum of Solace?! It was way obvious that him warning them was how Chuck was going to expose the elders. Which they said were the leaders of the ring? So wait, what the hell was Romo Lampkin/ Didn't they say he was the leader of the ring? Also, the way Chuck was sitting their at the desk with the laptop, how could he not know Chuck was recording him and was streaming it to the stage downstairs?! ojv('man, its obvious!') But it was a little deus ex machine for Chuck to be suddenly okay there at the end and able to beat Shaw without the governor because he remembered his dad's final words that he was special and uncovered a memory from when he was a kid when he accidentally downloaded the first intersect prototype.
So it was causing him brain damage until he remembered it doesn't have to cause him brain damage?! I mean, it does make sense, because previous eps established Chuck was unique in that he could download the intersect without being turned into a vegetable. So how was Shaw able to do it?
Weird, I didn't realize Casey was supposed to be old enough to have a daughter old enough for Morgan to date and it wouldn't be creepy? I mean, I guess Adam Baldwin is actually kinda old, but I thought his daughter was only in her teens. Though didn't they say he became NSA in the late 80s? I guess if his wife was knocked up then, she'd have to be in her 20s.
So anyways, is the Buy More half of the show done given the store blew up, and they set up Jeffster as the fall guys? Which, why would they? I understand Big Mike would think they did it, but the government knows the truth. Sure, they're creepy weirdos, but I would think Chuck and Morgan would try to prevent them from getting arrested for something they didn't do!
And you know, when Chuck got that post-death video message from his dad, I had a feeling it would be about his mother. They never said what happened to him and Ellie's mother. I would think they think she ran away too? Which is kinda messed up, that both their parents abandoned them at separate points, no wonder they have issues!
But the case file indicates she was missing. Was she missing because she ran, or because she was kidnapped? If it was the latter, did their dad just lie to them about what really happened to her? Hmm, I wonder if Chuck's parents were like him and Sarah, and his mom was a spy who left first to keep her loved ones safe, then their dad did the same thing later?
All in all, with the destruction of the Buy More, Ellie wanting Chuck to quit, and Chuck inheriting his father's old lair, once again we have some huge changes coming next season.
