So I'm up in NYC for Chistmas, as usual. Nothing really of interest, same old same old. Helped the parents with shopping Sunday, and got my usual Singa's fix. Christmas eve mass, had my godson and my other nephew and his half sister along, where they misbehaved in church. Since [livejournal.com profile] durlxnemesis couldn't make it because his jeep got rear-ended, he joined us via Skype. (at home, not at church) Went to NJ for Christmas, but alas, no Rock Band this year, as R's wife J is preggers with twins and due any minute. Am going to some sort of fancy restaurant tonight with [livejournal.com profile] 7500centfish and [livejournal.com profile] isabel79.

TV commentary:

Once Upon A Time- Weird, Krycek was just on Supernatural this past Friday, now he's here again. Even weirder, young Peter and young Olivia from Fringe are paired together again as Hansel and Gretel. Is it just a coincidence, or is this another weird Abrams fanwank? Its amusing that Gretel is the smart, tough bad-ass, and Hansel is friggin useless.

But how cool is the Evil Queen's outfit in this ep? That hat! The leather capelet? Its just so... crazy, yet totally stylish! Too bad she can be such a frakking krant. But she can also be so hilariously snarky! And I know its been said before, but wow, do Jennifer Morrison and Ginnifer Goodwin look uncannily alike. I mean, talk about perfect casting.

Leverage- So, they're acting like Artie "knows" the team since he was the one who picked them for Nate in the pilot? Ah'm skeptical! spoiler cut )

Cool, new trailer out for Operation Raccoon City:

This is actually an expanded version of one of the earlier trailers, wherein the Wolfpack encounters a Spec Ops team. Interesting, they always touted this game as the Wolfpack vs the BOWs vs other factions. But, the Spec Ops teams were previously portrayed as generic looking SWAT geared folks. Now, we're seeing a more individualized team for them. Which has me wondering if you can play as the Wolfpack or Spec Ops in story mode. Like the Wolfpack, they seem to be set up as a squad with differing roles, so the setup would be the same, just with a differing set of characters. I mean, other media has shown the Wolfpack encountering and allying with both Hunk and Nikolai, and hunting Jill, Carlos, Claire, and Leon. What if the Spec Ops side is the opposite, where they encounter and help the RE heroes?

In any case, this game looks more awesome the more I see it. Some RE purists are all PO-ed saying stuff like, "Why are they rewriting history?" or "Why don't they continue with the current storyline?" Hey, I think they wanted to go for a new gameplay style in familar territory. Its not supposed to be the future of the series, just another game type within that same universe trying to cater to people who want something different.

TV commentary:

Leverage- Weird, why are they offering the pilot free to watch on itunes this week? Is it so people would get last night's ep? spoiler cut )

Nikita- Heh, its funny how the lie became the truth (sort of). So all this time, it wasn't that the guy who betrayed Alex's dad spreading lies that Alex was captured and brainwashed and was going to try and retake the company as a Division puppet, they legitimately thought that it was some Division/Percy plot from the start. And indeed, even though it wasn't Nikita's intention, Amanda did end up starting up a similar plan close enough to that. Interesting end though. spoiler cut )

Chuck- I guess since it is the end of the show soon, they can do what they did! spoiler cut )

Hmm, so in addition to releasing the songs the Friday before, now the show has started releasing some of the performances from the next ep on youtube? Its odd that Fox does the stupid 8 day delay for non-Dish/non Hulu-plus subscribers on all their shows, but they're fine with releasing the actual musical numbers beforehand? I guess they're trying to generate buzz. In any case, here's Brit doing Beyonce's "Run the World":

For one thing, just like when Rachel did Rihanna's "Take a Bow" way back in season one, this is one of those songs where I prefer Glee's version to the original. Though that seems to be the case with a lot of the more Urban music they do. Also, as I've said countless times before, HeMo looks infinitely hotter with her hair down. And finally, how the hell does Kurt have a chance in hell of winning the election after this? The chyx feel all empowered, and the dudes are mesmerized by the hotness.

Speaking of hotness. decided to try my hand at a "Hottest list". I've always found it very difficult to narrow things down to a certain number. But decided to just sit down and look at a list of all the TV shows I watch regularly, the music I listen to, the movies I've seen, other "hottest lists" and first grab all the ladies I liked on those, then take that list and whittle it down to 50 by choosing the ones I felt more strongly towards.

I don't want to say its a "50 hottest chyx list", perhaps it would be more accurate to call it my top 50 favorite hottest chyx: (in no particular order, because its hard enough shortening the list to just 50. Having to order them to would be un-possible!) under the cut )

I was too lazy to actually link to pics. If you're reading this, you have access to the net. If you're curious what one of them looks like, google it yourself! In any case, I put their ages next to them just to help me with seeing trends.

And what trends did I find? Well, I have a definite preference for brunettes- of the 50, 33 are dark haired, with only 10 blonds and 7 redheads. And it should be no surprise I favor the snowflakes- 44/50 are white, with the last 6 being equally split between Latina and Asian. Of course, I didn't count Alexis Bledel as Hispanic, even though she actually is, despite her fair skin and blue eyes. Odette Yustman might actually count as Hispanic also. But chyx like Selena Gomez and Kristin Kreuk are practically snowflakes so the numbers are nebulous.

Age-wise, only 2 are under 20 (but still over 18), with 27 in their 20s, 20 in their 30s, and 1 in her 40s. (Hmm, I wonder if I plotted it out, would it look like a bell curve?) It should be no surprise that 43 of them are younger than me, but hey 7 older, that's not too bad. Though I guess 29 of them were playing high school age characters when they first came to my attention. (Although I shouldn't really count Evangeline Lily, because I first had the hots for her on Lost, and it was only later that I found out she was an extra in Freddy vs Jason. But technically, the first thing I saw her in, she was playing a HS-er)

TV Commentary:

Robot Chicken- So last night was their Third Star Wars special. (I guess Family Guy's comes out on DVD soon as well?) Their Prune Face sketch, I totally thought they made up that name. I didn't realize the character had actually been referred to as Prune Face in the Expanded Universe. Which, given his prune face is a trait of his whole species and not just him, wouldn't people calling him Prune Face be incredibly racist?!

Leverage- Its kinda weird that the 3rd season finale was last night, rather than with the rest of the episodes back a few months ago, given the show was only back for their Christmas special and the two part finale. spoiler cut )

You know, I had seen the "allisonscag4cassie" trending topic on twitter the other day, but had no idea what it meant. So then when I was trying to look up why Allison Scagliotti would be writing an intro to an upcoming "Hack/Slash" according to her twitter I learned apparently there's a push by internet nerds to have her play Cassie Hack in the movie version of "Hack/Slash" (if it ever gets made!). (well, I guess its not just them, she's friends with the writer, and they both think she could do it as well)

And, I don't know what to think about that. I think she has the right attitude and sass, but while I do certainly think she's cute and all, I think she's a different kinda of attractive. I mean, I can't imagine her in the kinda outfits you see Cassie running around in. Okay, I can. ("heh.") But it would be like seeing Felicia Day, Alyson Hannigan, or Allison Mack running around like that. They're all cute chyx (I grouped them together since I assume they have the same type of appeal), but it just doesn't seem "them". I mean, when I think real-life Cassie Hack, I think someone who looks like Stoya or Megan Fox or something. But maybe that's because the comic is ridiculously fan-service-y. I guess it depends on what the movie is going for. I can see the movie working with either AScag or the Fox, but they'd be totally different movies, I think.

TV commentary:

Lost- Saw the "twelve minutes". It answers many of the questions people have. Though not all of them, and the answers they give might not be satisfactory to some, but they're answers!

Oh, random webbing the other day, you know, I had no idea you could connect the Autobot and Decepticon combiner leaders (Silverbolt, Motormaster, Onslaught, Hotspot) to Metroplex and Trypticon's city modes? Apparently, it was a feature left out of the instructions! I had Metroplex and all the Aerialbots! If I knew that in addition to them forming Superion, you could connect them to Metroplex (because apparently you can also connect Combiner limbs to Metroplex's robot mode) in all sorts of different ways, I would've thought that was totally awesome! I mean, you already have 5 robots that can combine to form an even bigger robot, but to learn you could connect them to other robots as well?

My Boys- Quick shallow comment- in Mike's defense, the cop and fed chyx were pretty cute, so I can see how he might be confused.

Oh, and while I am amused by this vid, it does seem a little mean to poke fun at a guy who was just ranting about the danger in his neighborhood.

Ah, and Alona Tal got to demonstrate those singing chops she's known for back in Israel. But what's with Eliot's love interests being former Veronica Mars characters who were murdered on the show- first, Mindy O'Dell, now Meg Manning?

And what in the world, was Parker trying to act like some weird amalgam of Bjork and Lady Gaga?

So, this vid has been circulating around the geek and entertainment gossip sites today:

But what is this supposed to be? A trailer for a re-imagining of the Mortal Kombat series? I would chock it up to another one of those fan made action vids based on video game franchises, much like that Street Fighter Legacy vid, or the Modern Warfare Frozen Crossing series. (is it me, or is the CIA operative chick in the second one kinda cute?) Which I have to hand it to them, they may not have a big Hollywood budget, but these youtubers manage to create well-done pieces of work. I mean, that SF Legacy thing was way better than either of the actual SF movies.

But I digress, the Mortal Kombat thing must be the trailer to something bigger, since they have Michael Jai White as Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade. Hhey, 7 of 9's still doing stuff! Just this past year she took over for Coupling chick on Leverage while she was out all preggers! Hmm, how would I refer to the other Leverage characters without actually referring to their actual names? Guy who almost dumped his gf for underage Natalie Portman, Voodoo, Lindsey Mcdonald, and Pilot Inspektor's mom? (I would also go with Jason Lee's baby's mama.)

Anyways, while I'm posting posting about various youtube series, is it me, or does the chick in the Growing Up Granger series do a pretty good Hermione impression. Well in that she does a good job of sounding exactly like her.

The new trailer for the latest Splinter Cell looks pretty cool (changed link to higher quality one). Is it wrong to like the later Bond movies over the early ones because the violence is more stylized? I mean, Connery is cool and all, but my favorite Bond is Brosnan. Though I did like the action in the Craig ones better. So, I would rank them Brosnan > Craig > Connery > Moore > Dalton > Lazenby.

Maybe its from watching too much Bourne and 24 and what have you, but for me to consider an action-spy movie good, yes, it does have to have a good plot, but I also want well choreographed CQB. I wanna see fancy joint locks and weapon disarms and wot-not. You know, real innovation when it comes to taking another person out.

That's why I still like 24, the stories can get ludicrous at times, but the action is always nice. And while I appreciate the cons on Leverage, I do enjoy watching Eliot fight. Not that I'm all about violence when it comes to the genre. In fact, I definitely applaud Michael when he comes up with clever ways of neutralizing the opposition without even laying a hand on them or firing a shot.

Oh, and I totally forgot my original reason for posting about Splinter Cell, that its totally distracting that they made Fisher's voice Michael Ironsides. I like hear it and think, "That's Michael Ironsides!" So I think old balding dude, which doesn't fit with what Fisher looks like, so it kinda takes me out of it because there's that disconnect between what he looks like and what he should sound like (or rather not sound like)

And is it me, or is Christina Hendricks' rack huge?!.

is what he heard, but what I meant was "the chick in it". (Who and in what? Bridget Regan in the Legend of the Seeker show). I swear I've done a universe shift this morning. I wrote something in some paper logs, because I even remember handing it to my cohort because something else was going on as well and was giving it to him to log the other thing. But when I looked later, there was nothing in the book written by me this day. And I checked the other one to see if maybe I accidentally wrote it in the other set of logs, but nope. WTF?!

Dang, I was too slow, so I didn't get to deal with cute frizzy haired girl. I dunno why I still call her that, she only had frizzy hair that one time. But it sounds better than "sometimes ethnic-looking girl".

Obtuse comment of the day: Isn't it amusing how reviews of "certain things" are even more taste based than reviews of normal versions of those things? Like I was reading a review for 1itp/1its 7, and it had a lot of people I liked in it, but the first review felt it was blah. But the end sentence of that review was all, if you like X, and you like Y (and I'm certainly a fan of both X and Y, where X and Y are things I am a fan of), you'll really enjoy this a lot, otherwise, its a rental. So I thought, it might be good. And the next few reviews were more favorable.

TV commentary:

Leverage- Is it me, or was Parker looking totally hot in that one dress? Yowza! She was looking mad cute as well getting all huffy as Hardison took credit for her previous jobs and when flashing back to the last few times she had to play a social role and ended up breaking peoples fingers or stabbing them with forks when they tried to get frisky. I'd like to see a Dollhouse/Leverage cross-over where she, Whiskey, and Sierra play a gang of really skinny but still hot cat burglars.

And what the hell accent was Hardison going for? South African? Overall, a fun episode.

Videos you're prolly already seen this week:

The College Humor Pony-Hole vid- Hey, I'm a fan of both ponytails and punching the brown (I'm trying to find other ways to refer to it besides "going Greek"), so I found this hilarious.

Beavis and Butthead discuss Mike Judge's new movie, Extract- Talk about a blast from the past. You know, I can't believe they're that old now. Like, do kids today even know who they are, or do they have some other set of jackasses to get amused by?

Sylar in "Hostage: A Love Story"- Well, not Sylar himself, but Zachary Quinto. Who calls him Spock?! Hey, I though the new Star Trek kicked ass, but Spock is always gonna be Leonard Nimoy to me. Which reminds me of that Cracked Article on 7 iconic characters that almost never were. Wait, Spock was added to the show for sex appeal?! Really?! But I digress, funny, but kinda twisted. And you know, I can never see someone holding a gun on someone with their finger on the trigger without thinking of two of the biggest rules of gun safety- never point a gun at something you don't want shot, and don't put your finger on the trigger until you're actually going to shoot something that very moment (just leave your finger on the side, and stick your finger in and pull the trigger in one motion when you want to finally shoot something). I mean, obviously, a criminal hostage taker isn't taking safety into consideration, but it still pops into my head.

The trailer for Boondock Saints 2- you know, I was skeptical that this was ever gonna get made. I mean, its been 10 years and they kept talking about it, but I thought it was one of those things people talked about making but wasn't gonna get done. But, I'm glad that it is actually coming out. It looks like instead of William Dafoe, there's a new fed played by Darla/Rita (as she's known to you Angel or Dexter viewers)?

TV commentary:

Leverage- Pretty cool ep of Leverage last night with the Bizarro version of the team. Speaking of, Wil Wheaton did a TWoP interview the other day for this ep (he's Hardison's counterpart). But its from the interview that I learned Sophie, or rather Gina Bellman is preggers in real life. I was wondering why she was playing less of a role these past few eps!

But yeah, while she had no counterpart, Wesley Crusher was Hardison's as I mentioned before. Nate's was played by Griffin Dunne (who's father, novelist Dominick Dunne, died last night. Whenever I would hear that name, I would think of Dominique Dunne, the elder daughter from the first Poltergeist who was murdered by her ex-bf which they attribute to the "Poltergeist curse". Oh wait, they're father and daughter. I did not know that! And the name similarity make sense!). Parker's counterpart is "gentleman thief and entertainer" Apollo Robbins. And bizarro-Eliot is played by the hot Israeli model and actress Noa Tishby. Is it me, or did she look totally hot with the glasses in the beginning of the ep?

Anyways, I've mentioned on here before my stance on acting in pr0n. While I'm not expecting Academy Award performances, I think the acting has an influence on the story going on. cut for your benefit )

I dunno, if you're gonna spend money on some course, why not have it be something cool, like skydiving, or stunt driving, or CQB shooting? I mean, I'd much rather learn to drift a car or cut down on the time it takes to draw a .45 and do a quick two and one than sleep on dirt and walk around a forest feeling all dirty. But that's just me. spoiler cut )

Leverage ) Getting out of the cut, I know Mark Sheppard has been a bunch of stuff, and he's had done a lot of guest stints on shows I watch lately (Leverage, Burn Notice, Dollhouse), and Whedonites are likely to refer to him as Badger, but his BSG character name of "Romo Lampkin" is too cool to not refer to him as that. It also makes me thing of LA Confidential and Rollo Tomasi.

- Peter Petrelli from Heroes
- Gregory House from House
- Sawyer from Lost
- Lee Adama from BSG
- Tim Riggins from FNL
- Barney Stinson from HIMYM
- McSteamy from Grey's Anatomy
- Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl
- Bret Michaels from Rock of Love (really?)
- Chuck Bartowski from Chuck
- Daniel Meade from Ugly Betty (I can never see this guy without thinking "The Gregster")
- Clark Kent from Smallville
- Patrick Jane from The Mentalist (Do chyx really dig Simon Baker? He always looked kinda weird to me)
- Sam Winchester from Supernatural (Not Dean?)
- Michael Scott from the Office
- Jack Bauer from 24
- Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory
- Jack Donaghy from 30 Rock

Oh, and I would think they'd pull those Chris Brown Doublemint Gum commercials given what he did to Rihanna. I mean, I think smacking around your gf is way worse than smoking pot, and look what happened to Phelps! Okay, never mind, they supposedly have, but I'm sure I saw the commercial last night.

And what kind of movie is Inglorious Basterds supposed to be? I thought it was a comedy, but from the new trailer I guess its a dark action comedy? Actually, I didn't know anything about this film, but I guess it is a Tarantino flick, so that does kinda make sense.

So a couple of weeks ago, I saw the buzz on that Casey Carlson chick on AI. She's hot and all, but is she really "American Idol's Sexiest Ever contestant" (FHM) or "the hottest girl Idol's had, ever" (TMZ)? Now, I don't watch American Idol (I think the only time I've actually watched a full ep was the one [livejournal.com profile] poodleface was on), but I know they go to a bunch of cities and have auditions (speaking of, cute outfit she tried out in), then they get the best picks from those tryouts to Hollywood, then thin the herd to like 12 for the main part of the contest. But aren't they not even up to Hollywood yet? It would be amusing if she got all this publicity and didn't make it into the top 12 or whatever.

Weird, the acting/quality/production values in the trailer of "The Office- A XXX Parody" (the content is SFW, though the general idea prolly isn't. Here's a link to a NSFW for you pervs) doesn't look half bad. Well, compared to other films of that kind. Ashlynn Brooke as a female Michael? Also weird. Though I think there's a little more to Michael than saying "That's what she said".
