So I'm up in NYC for Chistmas, as usual. Nothing really of interest, same old same old. Helped the parents with shopping Sunday, and got my usual Singa's fix. Christmas eve mass, had my godson and my other nephew and his half sister along, where they misbehaved in church. Since
durlxnemesis couldn't make it because his jeep got rear-ended, he joined us via Skype. (at home, not at church) Went to NJ for Christmas, but alas, no Rock Band this year, as R's wife J is preggers with twins and due any minute. Am going to some sort of fancy restaurant tonight with
7500centfish and
isabel79.
TV commentary:
Doctor Who- Heh, can we have more of Strax, Jenny, and Madame Vastra? They're fun. And ah, nice to see there is definitely a complex backstory to Oswin Oswald. When she died in Asylum of the Daleks, since it was announced she was the new companion, I was thinking, are they going to do something lame like, "Oh, they just happen to be related!" Clara isn't an ancestor of Oswin, she's somehow the same person. Its amusing, because the Doctor's been in a funk about losing the Ponds. Although it is silly he seems to get that way every time he loses someone. He brings someone in to his life and inevitably gets them killed (or at least have something horrible happen to them) and is all never again! But c'mon, we know he'll always open up again. But yeah, that being said, the amusing part is that he does open up to her, and she ends up getting killed. I mean, that's not the amusing part, but rather, I think its the mystery of her that brings him out of his funk. Because while he does care a lot, he's kinda an a-hole like that. I think his excitement to find her was less about wanting to bring her back and more that she is this strange mystery for him to figure out.
Anyways, definitely can't wait for the next eps to figure out what she's all about.
Leverage- A fitting end to the show I think! I was worried for a second there, that they'd kill everyone off, but then I remembered, what we were seeing was his recollection of events, so its unreliable.
So anyways, Nate proposes to Sophie and they retire, with Parker, Eliot, and Hardison continuing the fight. Its weird that they had Parker be the new mastermind, I swear a previous ep he was grooming Hardison for that role.

Date: 2012-12-31 03:30 pm (UTC)He's a little slow sometimes though, huh? Some of her vocal quirks should *really* have given him the clues he needed long before he actually saw her name.
On the other hand. Ever since watching /Galaxy Quest/, every so often John and I look at each other and go, "This is a BADLY WRITTEN episode!" We had to add a new phrase with this DW. "This...is a WELL WRITTEN episode!" Boy, did he have some great lines.
