Aug. 2nd, 2014 03:43 pmSaw Guardians of the Galaxy today. I enjoyed it, definitely a fun movie. VERY hilarious, lots of epic action and sad drama (whatever, if you don't get misty at anything in this movie, you're a G-D robot!), and tons of hotties. I'm amused that even as a bald blue cyborg, Karen Gillian is freaking hott! Not that Zoe Saldana is anything to slouch at either. But yeah, if you're into hot alien chyx of various colors (blue, green, pink, lavender, whatever floats your boat), this is the movie for you.
The only thing I found a little weird was Yondu. Like in the original comic, he was basically a Native American stereotype, but blue. Here, he's basically Michael Rooker the way he was in Walking Dead, i.e. a tough redneck. Still, I did like his little trick, its pretty bad-ass.
I did like how Nebula and Gamora basically had the same goal, to get out from their "father"'s thumb and kill his ass, but ended up antagonists because they hitched their wagons to different people who could accomplish it. Nebula joined Ronan because he got an infinity gem and was going to rise up against Thanos. Sure, he was going to raze the galaxy along the way, but she didn't care. Meanwhile, Gamora also wanted to leave Thanos, but she wasn't going to cause billions to die to do so.
But yeah, everyone has a sad story, Peter's mom died of cancer, Gamora and Drax's families were slaughtered by Thanos/Ronan, even Rocket feels like this freak that everyone is staring at and judging. And poor Groot, sacrificing himself so they could survive the crash. Like I said, if you don't feel anything for any of these people and what happened to them, you're as cold as ice!
But overall, a really enjoyable summer action sci-fi flick.
