Huh, so I'd been seeing promos for that new "Don't Trust the B in Apt 23", and it seemed interesting enough, particularly since James Van Der Beek was playing himself. But, I guess since Traffic Light is dunzo, my cousin's husband is producing that now. And since it comes on right after Modern Family, I have no excuse not to support the family and watch it. I mean, what else am I going to do during that half hour between Modern Family, and whatever show comes on at 10pm (Psych, SVU, Southpark)

But the "B" is played by Krysten Ritter (VM's Gia Goodman, though you may remember her as Lucy on Gilmore Girls, or as gothy landlord lady on Breaking Bad, or chick flicks 27 Dresses and Confessions of a Shopaholic) who I was always strangely attracted to. But its funny, because all the commercials focus on her or the Beek, but from the show description it sounds like Dreama Walker (Gossip Girl's Hazel, although you may know her as one of Clint Eastwood's A-hole grandkids in Gran Torino) is the other major character. FYI, she was my next favorite of Blair's minions after Penelope on GG S1.

Cool, just caught the trailer for BSG: Blood and Chrome, which takes place after Caprica but before BSG. Basically, it follows young Adama during the first Cylon war. Alas, given the bad taste left in many fans mouths by the BSG luddite BS ending, and the failure of Caprica, this show is being demoted to a webseries.

Which kinda sucks, because this looks totally bad-ass! I mean, its the first Cylon war, so gigantic space battles, humans fighting hulking cylon death machines. I watched Caprica all the way through, and while I thought it was passable entertainment, it was kinda boring. Its like gee, I wonder what people would rather see, space dogfights and soldiers fighting robots, or an hour of boring religious, social, and political commentary? Caprica even had the friggin Matrix in it, and they squandered that potential! I'm sure if you had more of Zoe kicking ass in there (particularly when she started becoming god there), more people would've tuned in.

You know, if a girl is able to control your ultra powerful robotic combat units with but a word, maybe you don't want to piss her off by trying to kill her! Other people you don't want to piss off, nascent god-like beings by framing their parents whom they just reconciled with.

Also, when you go to war with people you think of as your own children, make sure its not in your actual kids' best interest to team up with them instead and dethrone you!

Not that everyone was an idiot, at least some people on this show are smart enough to recognize BS, like a suicide bomber being told by their colleague that they "envy them for getting to reach heaven first", and that they will have to take the more awful path of having to continue to live on to continue to lead the resistance and knowing they're full of crap.

Amusingly enough, while Caprica didn't last as long as BSG, it at least got a better ending!

Oh weird, I just noticed that the American remake of Being Human has Starkiller as the vampire one.

TV commentary:

Dammit, its a new ep of No Ordinary Family tonight, plus the season premiere of V? Well, I'm sure they'll show up on Hulu tomorrow, but I'm not 100% sure Caprica will. Plus it'll be more efficient to just finish up Caprica, as I won't be able to watch the ep at 10 if I end up missing the 8 and 9 o'clock eps for No Ordinary Family and V.

(And before people are all, you watch too much TV, according to the Nielsens, current TV viewership is at 34 hours per person per week. So I'm actually not that far off from the average.)

Caprica- Argh, in the beginning of "Dirt Eaters", that was totally aggravating when Street and that other guy were fooling around in New Cap Ciy to take on the Avenging Angels (the ominous name Tamara and Zoe are going by now, and with which they actually have a following in the real world) and then Clarice interrupts them afterward, and thinks they're playing games, and they try to coax her in, wherein she'd actually end up finding Zoe, but she just disregards their little game as foolishness. So close! Speaking of the Avenging Angels, I would think the the Adamas would be more concerned about this, particularly when young Bill Adama comes home wearing one of their shirts. I mean, does he not recognize the non Zoe-girl as his sister? Someone going around looking like Zoe, whatever, she's notorious. But her hanging with some random avatar that looks like Tamara?

We also get a look into the Adama boys well, when they were boys. Again, the show is kinda prosaic at times, so you knew it was gonna end up being Joe rather than Sam being the one to kill the police who murdered and tortured their parents.

Ah, so they did go somewhere interesting with Lacey and the Cylons. (and is it me, or is that one brunette trainee kinda cute? She reminds me of Sweet Knees or Minka Kelly) spoiler cut )

And I never noticed this before, but is it me, or does Street have a cocky look about him?

TV commentary:

Caprica- So, seems like SyFy is burning the last 4 eps of Caprica tonight. Alas, could the first ep back from the hiatus be any more prosaic?! I'm not going to even bother with a spoiler cut, because the plots are so obvious that you know exactly how things will turn out almost as soon as the ep starts.

1) Lacey's ship to the training camp being "hijacked". Like it wasn't obvious that the rival terrorist group (or were they supposed to be really militant polytheistic anti-montheists?) capturing them and executing some of them was just an indoctrination test.

2) Heh, I would've found Methos being a mole shocking in the beginning if I remembered who the hell his character was. I mean, I was reminded a few scenes later he was the chief. But when he demanded to know who that one cop guy's CI was or else he won't authorize any warrants to check out spy gear, and the cop guy does give him a folder of what we think is Amanda Graystone, it was totally obvious he gave Methos the file of that one recently preggers chick instead to see if she'd end up dead to reveal that Methos was the mole.

Okay, there was one surprise there at the end. spoiler cut )

TV commentary:

Modern Family- Is it me, or were Haley's costumes HOTT? Although who really goes all out like that on Halloween? I mean, maybe its because I grew up in the city and didn't really get to go trick or treating all that often, but are there people who make such a fancy presentation at their house for the kids coming around? I mean, if they were having a Halloween party, that's fine, but they were going through all that for kids stopping by the door. And really, would kids care? It should be knock on the door, "trick or treat!". here's some candy, who wants to have to deal with all that ridiculousness for some snickers or nerds or whatever candy the kids eat nowadays. rbv('Gimme chocolate or I will cut you!')

No Ordinary Family- Having seen her in other things like this now, young Sam and Dean's mother looked way hotter with the 70s feathered hair style. And what the hell, I understand allegations of misconduct can follow you around, but its not like Deputy Leo and young Mary Winchester did something suspect. Well, they did, but it wasn't like it wasn't something easily explained. I think dating her mom is a far cry from them just being friends. I think there's less of a chance to go, "Hmm, maybe there's something going on?" I think once the truth comes out people won't just forget all about it and move onto something more interesting.

spoiler cut )

Caprica- While waiting for the usual suspects at Yeah! Burger last night, I saw original egg tweet that Caprica has been officially canceled? Damn, sounds like we won't get a lot of closure then.

The other day, Filmdrunk posted an article about some of the effed up tweets pr0n star Bree Olson has posted. I'm not too surprised, as I remember a particularly messed up line she uttered in one of her works, which I won't repeat here, but it was along similar lines of Marla's line in Fight Club. Of course, she talks a big game, but if you look at her body of work, in terms of actual stuff, IMHO she's pretty vanilla compared to chyx like Amy Brooke, Audrey Hollander, and old-school Sasha Grey. I mean, she hasn't even done "certain things". Speaking of, I heard Stoya recently has! Or at least filmed it within the last year, but its only getting released recently.

TV commentary:

Caprica- Alas, no cool matrix stuff, but maybe I'm the only one who likes this stuff. The majority of this ep was mostly more maneuvering by Clarice and Daniel. But they took some pretty big steps this week! spoiler cut )
geebs: (Default)
TV commentary:

What's with people on TV thinking fancy words mean delicious? I mean, first esoteric on Family Guy, then ostentatious on Raising Hope?

Glee- Really good episode last night, very emotional. Bus sure to be controversial since it covered the topic of faith. Personally, I thought the ep was pretty fair and balanced when it came to covering both religious belief or lack thereof. spoiler cut )

Caprica- Woah, while watching last night's ep, I had no idea that the holy mother of that One religion was Meg Tilly. Well, that, and she and Jennifer Tilly are both half Asian?! I guess they do kinda have Asian eyes. Anyways, while I enjoy Caprica, sometimes I just feel its too heavy. There's too much intrigue going on. I mean, not only do you have all the political machinations going on between the various factions of the One, you have the corporate intrigue involving Daniel's company and all the stuff with the Tauron mob, its just there's so much scheming to follow. Between that and all the typical philosophizing it and BSG were known for, it sometimes feels a little too high brow for my tastes. But hey, at least they have action in the matrix sometimes!

With the new TV season coming up, I guess I should chart out the shows I watch for posterity to make sure I'm not missing anything:

Sunday:
8:30: Cleveland Show
9:00: Family Guy
9:30: American Dad

(or at least I assume its still the Mcfarlane block from 8:30 to 10:00pm, I dunno if they're throwing in some new sitcom in lieu of one of the other shows for the start of the season.)

Monday:
8:00: House, Chuck, HIMYM, 90210
9:00: Gossip Girl, The Event (even though I still think the show title seems totally pretentious)
10:00: Hawaii Five-0, which I'll give a chance if only for having Boomer prance around in skimpy bikinis (Or I assume she will, otherwise this show is stupid)

Tuesday:
8:00: Glee, OTH, NCIS
9:00: Life Unexpected
10:00: Sons of Anarchy

I hear Caprica is moving to Tuesdays at some point.

Wednesday:
8:00: Undercovers
9:00: SVU, Modern Family
9:30: Cougar Town

Thursday:
8:00: Vampire Diaries, Community, Bones
8:30: 30 Rock? (Is this its new normal time?)
9:00: The Office, Fringe, Nikita
9:30: Outsourced? I dunno if its any good, but since I'm already watching the rest of Must See TV Thursday, might as well check it out.
10:00: Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Friday:
8:00: Smallville
9:00: Supernatural

Of course, I think there are more than a few shows missing from that list, like I only mention the cable shows I know for sure when they premiere. I have no idea when shows like Justified or Burn Notice come back up, nor when Walking Dead is starting up.

You know, even though some people are weirded out that Zoe from Caprica used to be Original Egg, I thought she was kinda cute on Caprica. Plus, this vid of her licking a larley-pop is spcv('Nice!')

Also kinda hot? Megan Fox in the new Jonah Hex trailer.

TV commentary:

30 Rock- What is the 3rd upcoming wedding Liz is referring to? There's Cerie's, and Grizz's, is it Floyd's?

The Office- You know, I can't fault Michael's idiocy this ep too much. spoiler cut )

Fringe- Interesting, if odd episode. I mean noir meets musical? spoiler cut )

Vampire Diaries- spoiler cut )

I keep forgetting to mention this, but the fact that construction on that one bridge on S Atlanta Road is quite convenient. I mean, it shaves minutes off the commute time.

TV Commentary

Caprica- Argh! That's how the season ends?! spoiler cut )

The ex-roomie went to Momocon today, and wanted to know if I wanted him to pick me up a pass for tomorrow. Alas, spent all day at Kaiser Glenlake and have to follow up tomorrow, so doesn't look I'm gonna be able to check out the hot cosplay girls the ex-roomie was mentioning was there. Anyways, didn't realize Kaiser Cumberland wasn't open on the weekends anymore. Because yeah, if there's something that can wait til the start of the week its a medical issue! Actually, I guess it was better it was at Glenlake, because I woulda had to go there anyways cause unlike Cumberland, they have a CT. Anyways, got antibiotics and painkillers and have to be on a liquid diet, which totally sucks. Hopefully, that won't be for too long.

TV Commentary:

Justified- Caught the first ep of this. Pretty bad-ass show so far.

Caprica- Its interesting how vastly different Joe and Daniels quests to find their daughters are. spoiler cut )
