So I was reading this TWoP article about other shows/movies/games from '99 that should get a reunion like American Pie is, and I had totally forgotten there was a Party of Five (pgv('What the hell is Party of Five?!')) spin off starring JLH's character. And that it had Jennifer Garner, post-Felicity, but before Alias. I think I did see one episode. I had no idea Abby from NCIS was also in it though.

So AfterEllen posted their Top 50 Female TV characters list. I'll list the ones I've heard of: (though I don't necessarily watch all these shows)

50) Bianca Montgomery, All My Chidren
49) Sydney Bristow, Alias
48) Lisa Simpson, The Simpsons
47) Emily Prentiss, Criminal Minds
45) Sue Sylvester, Glee
44) River Song, Doctor Who
40) Effy Stonem, Skins
39) Temperance Brennan, Bones
38) Spencer Hastings, Pretty Little Liars
37) Spencer Carlin, South of Nowhere
36) Lorelai Gilmore, Gilmore Girls
35) Bo Dennis, Lost Girl
33) Olivia Dunham, Fringe
32) Gabrielle, Xena
29) Casey Novak, SVU
28) Cara Mason, Legend of the Seeker
27) Myka Bering, Warehouse 13
26) Helena G Wells, Warehouse 13
25) Kahlan Amnell, Legend of the Seeker
22) Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation
20) Dana Scully, The X-files

9) Jane Rizzoli, Rizzoli and Isles
8) Naomi Campbell, Skins
7) Callie Torres, Grey's Anatomy
6) Emily Fields, Pretty Little Lairs
5) Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4) Emily Fitch, Skins
3) Xena, Xena
2) Arizona Robbins, Grey's Anatomy
1) Santana Lopez, Glee

Heh, I'm amused that Faberritana are all on the top 20. Because when I imagine Faberry, I also imagine Britanna along side them. No, not in that way! Well, I mean, that would also be hott, but I meant the two couples being close friends!

Anyways, I guess this is their "of all time" lists, since several of the mentioned characters are on shows that have been long since off the air? I'm not surprised Emily from PLL is in the top 10, nor Naomily from Skins, nor Callie and Arizona from Grey's. (Since I don't watch Grey's, what are Callie and Arizona's portmanteau?)

I didn't realize Rizzoli and Isles were so popular amongst the lesbian community. Or that of all apparently Casey was the favored L&O SVU DA? I figured people liked Alex better, that's why they brought her back? And while I think Buffy, Willow, Gaby and Xena's inclusion on this list were a given, I didn't realize Legend of the Seeker was a popular enough show to have both Kahlan and Cara both on here.

So I was flicking through the channels and saw one of the promos for Breakout Kings. Now I knew it was by the folks who did Prison Break, and I found it odd that one of the shots was for that same prison in the first season. But then I noticed they had a couple of shots with the guy who played T-Bag escaping from a prison. Though not only is it the guy who played T-Bag, but the character is also missing a hand. Which makes me wonder if he actually is T-Bag and this is all some weird spin-off of Prison Break. Or at the very least, since its done by the same people, they try to be all clever and slip him in as a character.

Speaking of such stunts, I still think when they had David Anders on Undercovers, it would've been totally awesome if he was playing Sark.

So my sources say Josh Schwartz is gonna have the OC and Gossip Girl crossover? Well, have them exist in the same universe. He could go for his show trifecta and throw Chuck in there as well, but while I can see the OC and Gossip Girl going together, Chuck would not. But yeah, my sources tell me they're thinking of having a young Lily (apparently the pilot is already being filmed, with Brittany Snow as young Lily, and Krysten Ritter is in it as well?) interacting with a young Kirsten Cohen (well, I guess that would be Nichols) and Jimmy Cooper, and possibly young Julie Cooper as well, though I can't see how that would work. It always seemed to me that Jimmy didn't get with Julie until long after Kiki dumped him, and I thought they got married because she was knocked up with Marissa. And wasn't she 18 at the time, so unless Jimmy was a pervert, they couldn't have been going out for too long. So for Marissa and Seth to be the same age, the Coopers couldn't have been going out until Kirsten and Sandy had been together for a while.

But I digress. What if other shows made by the same creator existed in the same universe? The David E Kelley stuff, didn't Boston Public, the Practice/Boston Legal, and Ally Mcbeal all exist in the same world? Like I think Joss could make it so either Buffy/Angel or Dollhouse existed in the same universe as Firefly (though I don't think Buffy/Angel and Dollhouse being the same world would work). I'd throw Dr. Horrible in there as well, but I think they've hinted very heavily that it takes place in the same universe as The Tick. Although one could geekily argue that the Buffyverse is the same as the Firefly-verse through the Alien: Resurrection connection. (which Joss wrote). Weyland-Yutani is the corporation in the Alien series, whom Wolfram & Hart listed as a famous client in the 5th season of Angel, and more than a few of the weapons in Firefly have the Weyland-Yutani logo on it.

But heh, I don't think it would be too far fetched for Alias, Lost, Fringe, and Felicity to exist in the same universe. After all, Driveshaft does exist in the first two. And Felicity has had mystical elements (the deus ex machina spell Meghan cast first season that broke Felicity and the Gnoll up and hooked her up with Ben, and of course Felicity going back in time and reliving her senior year of college). So I don't think there's anything preventing those shows from taking place in the same universe. Like I don't think the weird stuff in Alias, Fringe, or Lost really contradicts each other. Hey, I totally think Rambaldi, the Island, and the Pattern could exist in the same world without stepping on each others toes.

TV commentary:

Smallville- I was complaining about how terrible this show was last week, but I will say I do like how they're doing the whole Doomsday storyline, making it more like an evil-Hulk kinda thing. When the show isn't about Clark moping about his secret life and how he can never tell Lana (now Lois), it isn't too bad. spoiler cut )

Supernatural- Interesting ep of Supernatural last night. As I've said, I like the addition of angels to the mythology. I guess this is kinda blasphemous, but I've always found the whole angel or angels doing something bad out of jealousy of the human race, being all they're the most loyal, but humans are the big G's favored creation even though many don't even acknowledge him and do all sorts of things against his will, to be an interesting storyline. spoiler cuts )

The Office- Wow, some crazy developments in the Office as well. spoiler cut )

Finally played RE4 yesterday afternoon. Totally awesome. The controls and camera are a huge improvement over the previous games. And you can hold more. And your knife doesn't take up any inventory slots! And its egg-citing! spoiler space, just in case )

It does have many similarities to MGS though! I mean, you don't have a codec, but you do have a walkie talkie that keeps you in contact with some hottie glasses wearing techie. And there's freaking claymores you need to detonate, much like having to shoot out the sensors on the c4 planted on the ship in MGS2. And there is a lot of sneaking around to do.

Finally got to try out a ps2 controller on Tekken 5 at the student center. Works pretty good. Alas, the machine was dominated by one of those guys who's just too good. You know those types, they have that skill that no matter what character he plays, he totally rocks with them. And obviously, he was asian. I think I have some of that asian skill, though no where near the level of other asians. I mean, I can do some pretty good juggles and okezeme but nothing as crazy as they can. Though I think I was almost as good as any of the five or six other guys there trying to knock that guy off. His Steve was brutal so being able to take it to him with a way weaker character like Lee was pretty cool. I mean, shocking him with Lee's new parry enough that I was able to pull off the acid storm on him. Talk about real purty. But like I said before, tough opponents like this are a good learning experience. I mean, I've been doing Bryan's new Anaconda Riot combo a lot now that I've learned it, but lesson for today, while its a devastating combo, prolly not a smart thing to do with against someone with a counter as that last side kick comes out a little too slow. So against someone with Asian skills I end up eating King's leg reversal. But I adapt. So, I throw that a few more times to make myself look like I don't know what I'm doing, but then I start stopping the combo early and don't do the last kick, so he tries the counter and I punish him with another move. Alas, playing the arcades does get pricey though, but hopefully they'll get better at implementing online play by the time it comes out for the ps2, which should be significantly cheaper and I can still get some good competition.

Owel, now that I'm caught up on my shows, I can discuss. But not before saying the "Starsky and Hutch" movie was pretty funny. I liked it. And wow, hot pants are like, hot!

Alias was pretty interesting last night. cut for spoilers )

Owel, while waiting for Alias to come on after dinner, read the Kingdom Come series Charlie left for Krug to read. I think I actually like it better than the whole marvel/universe/paradise-X series. Its simpler and much easier to take in. I never read DC, and only passingly familiar with the DC universe. So I think there were a couple of things I didn't get. But I think it would be easier for someone not familar with DC to read Kingdom Come than it would be for someone not familiar with Marvel to read the whatever-X series.

Whatever-X was pretty intereesting but also very complex. It took everything you knew about the Marvel universe and turned it on its side. Not to mention the radical changes that took place throughout the entire storyline. I mean, both series are a look into the future of their respective Earths. The future marvel Earth significantly differs from the current one way more than DCs. The whatever-X stroyline starts off with the repercussions when the entire world's population is superpowered, but turns into this epic where they recreate the very universe. Kingdom Come, the whole world isn't superpowered, but the number of super-beings has significantly increased due to the superheroes/villains of now having children (though I'm sure more aliens came, and more people had freak accidents that gave them powers) Its a tale of jaded and/or fallen heroes, irresponsible "gods", and a resentful/scared human populace. Its nice and straightfoward, doesn't really delve deeply into the mythos like whatever-X did. Both are fine works, I think.

Anyways, so far its been a typical dreary monday morning.

Hmm, Freddy Got Fingered is on right now. That is a very, very strange movie. Actually, the TV selection has been subpar tonight. Dancing at the Blue Iguana was one of the flicks on. Which brings me to another pet peeve of mine. People disrespecting strippers. I mean, a lot of those girls have enough problems without having to deal someone at the club acting like a total asshole. Another movie that showed was Mangler 2. It has one of the most ridiculous premises for a film that I won't even bother to explain it myself, look it up for yourself.

And I still think that latest Nickelback video is kinda twisted.

Ah well, went up to Max and Erma's for dinner with Krug, Chris, and Tara. Hadn't seen Chris and sis since last week since Friday night was taken up with the whole Bang mess that had to be dealt with. Had the horseradish burger, as usual. Ida know, I coulda tried something new, but I really like their horseradish burger. Didn't like horseradish for the longest time until I tried horsey sauce when Arby's was having one of their five for five specials. Ever since then I was hooked. Caught Alias afterwards. Hey, they brought Meghan from Felicity in. Although the fight with that Danny Trejo guy was cool if not contrived. I mean, the guy conveniently was a weapons collector, so there were all these martial arts weapons readily available for them to fight with? Whateva.

Owel, through Krug and I's collective work, managed to unlock all of the characters in DW4. Now to get all their 10th weapons. I don't know how many we've gotten collectively, I've gotten the 10ths for Xiahou Dun, Guan Yu, Wei Yan, and Zhou Tai. Yue Ying, Zhang Liao and Xu Huang are just pending my attempt. I've been working on Zhang He and Taishi Ci as well.

Ford Excursions are huge! Which made me think about Lincoln Navigators. Watching these past few eps of DC, I totally forgot Dawson's dad drove one. What the hell? Wasn't he jobless 1st season and a teacher afterwards? How can he afford a Navigator? And its not like the mom is that rich, she's a news anchor for some podunk town! And she was able to get her son an Explorer for his b-day?! Ah'm skeptical. At least on Smallville, Lex is rich, so he can afford to have a different car every week. (though that doesn't explain how Jocko Whitney has a new truck every week) I swear they intentionally have everyone have a new car every week.

Owel, went to Chris's this afternoon for the Superbowl. Krug, Richard, Joseph, w00ter, and the GMA were there. Hey, I'm not a huge football fan, but I was really there for the commercials. And the food. Roast Pork, a Brat, two bacon cheeseburgers, and these golden buttery potato things Krug made. It was all pretty good. Made it into work just in time for Alias. Holy crap, how crazy was that episode? They be flippin' the scripts! I was sure it had to be a dream, that this couldn't possibly happening! But it did! One of the most incredible eps of a show, ever!
