Awesome, just saw a pic of Airtronic's version of the Russian RPG-7 rocket launcher. As I said before, a slightly modernized version would be quite useful for our own troops. Its cheaper than the rocket/missile systems in our inventory, plus still powerful and reliable. And unlike the LAWs, SMAWs, and M136s, the launcher is reusable, so you can have someone with it and four or five rockets, as opposed to just one or two heavy, disposable, single shot tubes. Plus, it gives the firer more utility, as they can carry all sorts of different and interesting rounds- HEAT, thermobaric, etc. Yeah, it doesn't have any fancy sensors, but its a friggin rocket propelled grenade, you don't really need to be that accurate with those things!

But yeah, looks like it has an M-16 style pistol grip, and picatinny rails galore. So, it can be equipped with all the fancy optics and accesories and swot-not- holo sights, lasers, night vision, etc. And the bottom rail seems to have a vertical foregrip (though its behind the trigger mechanism, so is it still a foregrip?) and a M4 carbine style adjustable stock.

Got my car back from the dealer after work yesterday after they installed lo jack and the new radio. My salesperson hooked me up with an Alpine CDA-9886, since it was way better yet cheaper than the top of the line factory model. I know, I don't even have power windows or locks (or power mirrors, I have to adjust the side mirrors manually! And apparently there's no trunk release switch from inside the car! Or if there is, I haven't found it yet by searching or in the instruction manual), but I splurged on the stereo system. It is pretty cool though.

It plays CDs and MP3s, though the remote control that comes standard is a bit excessive. Like what's the point? Its not like the radio is out of reach from my hands when I'm driving. I can see a use for someone in the backseat, but why the hell would they control the radio?! My car, I'm the one choosing the music, thank you very much. But it does have a lot of nice options via easy to install modules, 6 CD changer, satellite, the aforementioned DVD player, bluetooth, you can also hook it up with a standard AV input (which you can in turn get an adapter for for a standard 3.5mm jack), or USB connector, or an Ipod input. I think my sales guy misunderstood a comment I made and got me the Ipod connector (I like how the wire goes through the glove box, its neater and less cluttered than having a wire hanging from off the console).

Anyways, while my phone already has an MP3 player, one thing I found annoying about listening to music by plugging it to the aux port on the radio of the loaner car I had was that I could only control the music through the phone. Which is kinda hard to do while you're driving. But if you have an ipod hooked up, then you can control it via the main panel, which is easier than having to hold something and fiddle with the buttons while trying to drive. So since I apparently haven't splurged enough already, decided to get myself an 8 gig Ipod Nano for use with it. Hey, I usually have 2 video recording devices on me (my phone and the flip) so what's two mp3 players? Besides, the nano is tiny. And despite the way smaller screen, the video playback quality on it is way better than my phone (I have Dr. Horrible and an ep of Gossip Girl on it currently in addition to my music). But between all that and the flash drive on my keychain, could I have any more flash memory devices on me?

Doing purchasing a couple of weeks ago, I didn't realize how cheap flash drives were nowadays. With prices that low and them being so small, is there any reason not to carry one just in case? In this modern world, its up there with having a multi-tool, flashlight, lighter, and internet-capable phone with gps and a video-capable camera on you at all times. So I picked up an 8 gig one for myself for ~$15 (with my own money that is, and not from the places I purchase for work, because that would be kinda illegal).

Other things I bought this week. Oh, a black 2009 Nissan Versa. I know I'd been talking about getting the Ford Focus, but the Versa ended up being cheaper. And the reservations I had about the Versa, reviews said it didn't have a lot of oomph, it seemed kinda small, those weren't as bad as I thought. Its a little roomier than I expected, and driving on the highway, it performs just fine for me. Hearing the slow acceleration from 0 to 60, I was worried, but I can weave through traffic just as well as my old car. Plus, since its a new car, there's no loss in power if I'm running the AC. Now I have to come up with a new name for it.

TV commentary:

Supernatural- Okay, this week's ep was a funny MotW-kinda ep. spoiler cut )

BSG- saved this for last, even though it wasn't the best (I actually enjoyed the above eps more). But hey, now that its done for, I'm halfway to being fine with the end of the world. As I said when certain people thought it was gonna be Armageddon last month, I would be pissed if the world ended before seeing how Lost and BSG turned out. Some people loved it, some like the usual suspects totally hated it. Honestly, I thought it was okay until the second half. spoiler cut )

Oh, interesting to see them break out some new weapons. I mean, the pistols they've been using were FN 5-7s and Vektor CP1s (since they both look very futuristic), and they've been using HK MP-7s as submachine guns and Beretta Storms as their assault rifles, even though the Storm is really a 9mm carbine, not a rifle caliber weapon. But this is the first time I've seen the Marines carrying really heavy stuff (unless I wasn't paying attention on New Caprica), like M-60E3 machine guns.

Wow, its been a pretty busy week at work. The thingie finally came through, so I could start doing that stuff, but since there was a backlog I've been having to play catch up. But hey, come June they're taking me off shift work. So that's cool. Although I do have a lot more on my plate. And I'll prolly have to stick with the early-ass 7 to 3 hours, since there's stuff at work that would require me to be in that early.

Forgot to comment on Thursday night TV:

Smallville- How did this show get renewed for yet another season?! I mean, how many times must they re-hash the same plots. Though I guess this time, instead of protecting Lana, he's protecting Lois?! And the whiny bitch somehow learns the wrong lesson each time, even though its always exactly the same. spoiler cut )

Oh, and that one nurse was played by the chick who played Dr. Manattan's first wife. She was kinda cute. Definitely cuter than Silk Specter. But I think part of it might be the black wig. With her normal blond hair, Malin Akerman isn't too bad.

Supernatural- Cool, since this ep featured Reapers, they brought back Tessa, played by the mad cute Lindsey Mckeon. I dunno, is it me, or did the New Class have hotter chyx than original Saved by the Bell. I mean, Tiffani Amber Thiessen was hot, but New Class had the previous chick, Gift Shop Girl, and Natalia Cig-whatever. spoiler cut )

Saw Watchmen with the usual suspects today. I enjoyed it, though it is a bit lengthy. But the soundtrack was pretty cool. And I don't think you had to have read the graphic novel to understand it, though I wanna saw some of the opening credits montage might be a little confusing if you hadn't. The fights were pretty brutal too. Like some things that didn't even take up more than a few panels in the book were a little more drawn out, but I would think they would have to spice it up for the big screen. Heh, and while Patrick Wilson wasn't as paunchy as the novel Nite Owl II, he was appropriately nerdy. spoiler cut )

So I heard that the aunts heard from a seer that the Eight Days of Darkness is coming this week. (I thought it was only three when I younger) I thought it was supposed to take place after the Rapture? But anyways, you know, the righteous (wait, I thought those would all disappear during the Rapture, or was that just children? But whoever would be taken away would be so to spare them the coming horrors? Mebbe its people who are really good and the innocent, and this warning is going out to those who aren't good enough, but aren't exactly evil either) need to hole up in their houses and board up their windows and not let anyone in. Because darkness will envelop the world, and demons will walk the Earth and try to take the guise of people you know to be let into your house so they can kill you.

In any case, if it is the apocalypse this week, I'll be pretty pissed. I mean, I could complain about never having a threesome with a cute Asian chick with an English or Aussie accent and a blond-haired/green-eyed snowflake cutie, but what I would really be mad about is not seeing how BSG or Lost will turn out! And I think I would've like to have seen all the Harry Potter books made into movies.

Degrassi: Ah, so Leia is a former ballerina? I still don't buy Danny and Derek as star football jocks. I do find Riley's storyline interesting. In most of these shows, when you have a male character realizing he's gay, his closest confidant ends up being some chick who becomes his fag hag. I mean, he'll have male friends, but it'll be this whole thing where they're freaked out at first, but eventually come to terms with it. Argh, something happened with the cable so the boxes lost signal from 2150 to 2207. But, the TV in my room isn't on a box, so I was able to switch to that TV before I missed more than a minute of FNL or any of BSG. But that means my recording of Dollhouse is mussed up and missing the last 10 minutes. Hopefully its up on hulu or fox's website.

Ugh, hardly got any sleep last night. Normally, I'd take a nap after I got home from work, but I have some Christmas shopping to take care of. I'm amused that even though I lead the boringest life ever, it just seems like there's never enough time in the day. Like yesterday, I was freaking out because the simcard in my phone died for some reason, so I was like in a mad rush to get to the t-mobile store at the mall, getting pissed at all the stoplights, and pacing around like a madman at the store because they were busy with other customers. Its funny thinking about it now, because why was I stressing? Its not like I had anything else going on at the time but laundry, so its not like this errand was keeping me from anything.

And again, I have no life, so its not like me not being able to send/recieve calls on my cell (thankfully its working again) is life or death. And people got by/still get by without cell phones, yet the concept of not having a working phone on me would stress me out to no end. Like when people are all, they forgot to charge their phone so it died, or they left it at home, and are all non-chalant about it. I can't even conceive of not freaking out. What if there's an emergency, how would you contact people? Or what if you miss out on the coolest thing evar, because people tried to tell you about it, but they couldn't reach you because you didn't have a working phone on you. Of course, I'm naturally a paranoid worry-wart, so I'm always thinking of these what-if worst case scenarios that never come about.

Speaking of freaking out, there is something upcoming to freak out about, but luckily, I shouldn't really start worrying about it til after the break, and I have until the end of spring semester/the normal TV season to get things straightened out. All the options I've been looking at have fallen through so far though, but I'm trying to chillax and at least put off the freaking out until the beginning of next year.

Oh, only yesterday did I learn of/see that Stoya chick. Apparently she's considered the first alt-pr0n contract girl? I've heard people say she's goth-y, but she didn't really seem so in the self-titled thing I saw her in. I mean, she kinda looked like a cross between Anne Hathaway and Michelle Monaghan to me. Sasha Grey was also in it, who's pretty cute as well. Its too bad she's not like the ALS chyx.

Owel, back in the ATL. As usual, got to the airport too early on Sunday. Well, not as early as I usually am, but there was surprisingly little traffic getting there and I breezed through security. But at least I was only in the terminal 45 minutes before boarding than my usual hour or more. Well, 45 minutes from when it should've boarded. Because of the weather, the flight was delayed an hour. But took the Marta to 10th street so I wouldn't subject peeps to airport traffic, and the roomie picked me up and we and the usual suspects had dinner at the vortex. I didn't realize the double bypass (its like the coronary bypass, but double) had grilled cheese samiches for buns. I'd like to try it one day, but two eggs is a little too much for a burger.

I was supposed to be back at work today, but apparently my battery discharged over the break. But the AAA guy mentioned its prolly because the positive terminal was kinda loose, so the battery hasn't been charging properly. And the cold weather exacerbated the issue. So with the battery being low and the loose terminal, the car wouldn't start. But then the AAA guy clamped jumper cables on to the terminals, and without even hooking them up, the clamps seemed to press down on the terminal enough to get the car started.

But I got the cables replaced (the terminal was tightened as far as it could go, but it was still visibly not as snug as it should've been). But ha, I was getting a quote, and the guy said three-ninety-nine each. Now, car parts do seem ridiculously expensive to me, so of course, I thought he meant $399. And I was thinking to myself $800 for the parts, plus labor, that's more than the car is friggin worth!! But then he showed me the cost, and he meant $3.99. Hey, in my defense, some car parts do cost a ridiculous amount! But I got the cables replaced, and the car should hopefully be fine for tomorrow.

Oh, saw Lost Boys 2 on TNT after I got back from dinner. Ugh, what a dud. Autumn Reeser was the only good part of that movie. And not just because she's hot. Everyone else in that movie was atrocious! Like Corey Feldman was just terrible! As was the head vamp and the brother!

Heh, first puppies, now kitties:

TV commentary:

Gossip Girl- What the hell is a guerilla fashion show? Do roving bands of models really crash fancy paties and throw impromptu fashion shows?

Anyways, I had looked up the girl playing the daughter of the Yalie Blair was trying to impress since she looked like a young Jennifer Love Hewitt (Is it weird to refer to someone as a young JLH? I mean, JLH is gonna be the big 30 next year!). So I see an article where she's (Stella Maeve) referred to as a "NY fashionista". What the hell is a fashionista? Apparently, "a designer, promoter, or follower of the latest fashions", according to Webster's. People being famous just for wandering around the greatest city in the world looking fashionable. cliffv('What's up with that?')

Oh, and I guess even these shows forget their characters are teenagers because they're mostly played by 20 year olds (though Jenny is her actual age, 15, so isn't it kinda weird they have her making out with a 23 year old?), and all these shows have the kids drinking and staying out til all hours with no consequences (unless such a thing is integral to the plot). So they're supposed to be teens, but engage in behavior more appropriate for college age folks. But to get to my point, you have the Kristen Bell voiceover talking about how Chuck's in the car with jailbait, but if he's supposed to be in high school as well, then the girl's not jailbait!

Fricking frick, I can't believe I accidentally washed my earphones (since I left them in a pants pocket) when I did the laundry today.

Regarding tonight's HIMYM and NY vs NJ, who in their right mind would think NJ is better then NY?! It and Connecticut are just basically glorified suburbs of NYC anyways. So, its an okay place to live (particularly if you live in an area close to NYC), but no way is it cooler or superior to NY. I mean, what's so great about Jersey? It stinks! And I mean it in the smelly way! Seriously, just driving down the highways, its seriously rank! And all the gas stations are full service! Like how hard is it to pump your own gas!? And you think you have a physical and/or emotional connection with the chyx there, like you sleep with them at camp, or you help them take care of their nephew and show yourself to be a generally good guy, but then they don't talk to you ever again! But I digress. All in all, Jersey folks just secretly wish they were New Yorkers.

But some TV commentary:

HIMYM: cut for spoilers )

I'm glad they're running with the BrOTP though. As I said, I was pleasantly surprised that it became canon, given the number of other pairings I think would be cool in various fandoms that I doubt would ever be realized. Like they'd never really do Dasey on LWD (I mean, they're step-siblings, that's a little too risque, particularly for something that's more of a family show). And I'm skeptical they'd ever do Zutara, the hero can't not get the girl (couldn't they just pair Aang off with Toph?). Though with the current plots on Gossip Girl, I can see them doing Dair. I mean, with Dan and Serena and Blair and Chuck on the outs, with Dan on both Chuck and Serena's shite-lists, and Blair despising both of them, what better way to get them together than uniting them against common enemies? I am so lame.

Chuck- What's with all the Huey Lewis songs on Chuck this season? Ah, last year they had Rachel Bilson on Chuck, now they have a guest spot with Melinda Clarke. I've seen pics of Willa Holland on the Gossip Girl set, so its nice to see OC people still getting work on Schwartz's newer shows. cut for spoilers )
