TV commentary:
What to say about tonight's Heroes? How about how retarded is it they killed off Adam like that?! I mean, they got him out of the coffin just to have him dusted by Papa Petrelli?! If he wasn't gonna be around anymore, they shoulda just left him in the coffin, that was a cool way to go out. Why bring him back and ruin a perfectly fine character?! Whatever. So Papa Petrelli can suck the powers out of people? Again, it makes Nate the odd man out, but I guess they did say he was born without powers and was implanted with them like the Niki/Tracy/Barbara triplets. And that makes Sylar more a Petrelli than Nathan ever was if Father and Sons have variations of a power-stealing ability.
Ah, I was talking about it over the weekend with ND, and he called it. He jokingly said, "Mebbe Hiro froze time and put some ketchup packets on Ando before he stabbed him." And that wasn't far off. I was wondering how he'd get past Daphne's super speed. But I guess he quickly teleported away, switched the sword out for a fake one, and then gave Ando the fake blood beforehand and told him to play dead (rather than freeze time to give thim the fake blood and tell him to play dead, which Daphne would've seen) So Hiro is tasked with getting the guy who gave Matt his vision quest. Okay, the part where Hiro went back a minute before he was knocked out and hid behind the rock, and then saw the drawing on the rock of someone sneaking up behind him with a shovel was kinda funny.
But Daphne's waffling on the whole bad guy thing- first because she was totally shocked that Hiro turned into a villain so quickly by killing Ando (how could she actually fall for that though?!) and then she bumps into Matt at the airport, and he's all sad puppy dog, "I had a vision that we're soulmates and I need to save you so we can live happily ever after" and pathetically waiting for her at the airport all day? So she thinks he's all sweet and doesn't want to hurt him or do anything to change that! Ill!
Alas, tonight's ep of Gossip Girl was okay, but I was expecting more given the previews made the ep seem all "Cruel Intentions". Vanessa is an idiot. One, thinking she could blackmail Blair like that. Is she insane. And two, how hilarious is it that in the end all Blair had to do was wait for V to be away from her purse so she could erase the pics from her camera phone? Has she never heard of making copies?!
Owel, she's no Annette, and truthfully, I don't think Chuck actually liked her liked her. I think the thing about Blair and Chuck is that they're the same- they're not "evil" because they want to be, its a defense mechanism- if they act the way they do, people are either too intimidated to try and hurt them, or think they're heartless, so you can't do anything to really hurt them, so why bother. And in this particular instance, Chuck was trying to do a legitimately nice thing. Yeah, it was also somewhat self-serving as well, since he thought the bar was pretty cool. But in the end, he was still helping the "little guy". And I think the reason he wanted Vanessa to stay was because she was witness to this act, and he liked the feeling of someone not seeing him as a piece of crap, someone who could be "good". Yeah, he's had Nate, Blair, and Serena's back before. But they're too close. He's helped them out a bunch, but he's also done some pretty horrible things to them as well. So no matter how much good he does, they're also privy to his darkest moments.
But yeah, I also think this is why he was so pissed at Dan when he found out Dan was writing about him. Dan had his back at that club, getting thrown in jail with him, so Chuck thought he could trust him, and reveal his desire to not be a dick. Well, technically, he admitted that his father hated him, and saw him as this evil little thing that killed his wife. But reading between the lines, its that people always saw Chuck that way, so that's the way he's acted. So when he thought Dan was just using him, he flipped out, because like Blair, he doesn't like making him self vulnerable like that. With Vanessa, he made himself vulnerable by showing her he does have a nice, charitable side, and she didn't do anything to betray him, she actually looked at him with gratitude. And I think he liked that feeling of someone looking up to him more than actual attraction to her. I think that's why he's always been so helpful to Eric, to have a little brother to look up to him.
In the end, since Vanessa does end up leaving dejected, Blair is all, "Owel, guess I lost, you can eff me!" Unlike Cruel Intentions, where Kathryn is just teasing Sebastian and is all, "sorry, I don't eff losers!" Blair is totally willing- heh, the only reason she sent V packing was because she was totally jealous. But even Chuck realizes Blair, as attracted as she is to him, only sees him with a mix of desire and contempt. So he asks her to say the thing he couldn't at the White Party. But, she can't say the L word either, and he doesn't want her as a tryst. If he gets her, its because its love, so until she feels that way (I don't think its totally fear of putting herself on the line like that. I mean, its partly that, but I'm not sure she's convinced she really does love him just yet), if she really wants him, she'll have to be making the moves now and prove she does.
And what is with the crazy-hot outfits Serena was wearing tonight?! Did she wear a skirt tonight that went more than a few centimeters past her crotch. That one dress where she teased Bart that "she forgot to wear underwear", I think even if she did, it would still be totally scandalous because that's not a dress, its a friggin top! And wait, the whole suit Bart brought for her, was she just wearing the jacket as a dress and forgoing the rest of it?!
On Chuck, we finally learn some of Sarah's backstory. Or at least we think we do. She used to be a geeky girl named Jennifer Burton who's father was arrested. Her father was a conman, and Jenny Burton is just one of many aliases she's had. But it did give her some useful skills that made her a prime recruit for the CIA (and she was recruited by Tony Todd himself! But if he had been with her that long, you'd think she'd be a little more fazed by his death!) Owel, I wonder if it was just names, or the geek girl was just a persona she played. Because if she was a geek like that, it would make a little more sense that she likes Chuck, because they're more alike then we're initially led to believe.
Heh, Mark Ratner and Heather Chandler? Nice reference to "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and "Heathers". Then they had Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait", HA, how very DC!
So Skynet and John Connor have the same psychiatrist? Ah, but I guess this answers my question on whether the child is real or not. So it is the real Catherine Weaver's daughter, and the girl could tell something was off after the T-1000 replaced her. But it seems like this guy was vital to Skynet's development, so mebbe that Terminator was sent to guard him as his new assistant. I guess its just a weird koinky-dink in there course of investigation, the Connors decided they could use his services as well?
But what's up with that Terminator anyways? It seems like fights between Cameron and other Terminators should be pretty even. Since when is she able to just manhandle them and twist them into a pretzel like that?! Is it because it was a girl terminator?! But that is interesting though that the new ones have a self destruct device built into their CPUs. I guess if it gets to the point where they can actually get the chip out, the machine's frakked anyways, so might as well make that combat chassis ineffective rather than allow Connor to possibly reprogram it. Of course, it also seems like the reprogramming doesn't always take. So why not risk it falling into enemy hands? But I guess destroying the chip does prevent them from knowing any secret plans or whatever.
So they had Kendra from Razor as some chickie of Derek named Jessie? But they're making her all mysterious, what with the pics of John and Derek that she's hiding from him. Given she was complaining about every base having a machine, and mentioning them going nuts and killing people, I wonder if time has been messed with so much, that John stopped being a total savior to the people. He becomes a little more pro-robot, and mebbe now there are factions of humans trying to stop him as well, instead of just Skynet.
