Got my car back from the dealer after work yesterday after they installed lo jack and the new radio. My salesperson hooked me up with an Alpine CDA-9886, since it was way better yet cheaper than the top of the line factory model. I know, I don't even have power windows or locks (or power mirrors, I have to adjust the side mirrors manually! And apparently there's no trunk release switch from inside the car! Or if there is, I haven't found it yet by searching or in the instruction manual), but I splurged on the stereo system. It is pretty cool though.

It plays CDs and MP3s, though the remote control that comes standard is a bit excessive. Like what's the point? Its not like the radio is out of reach from my hands when I'm driving. I can see a use for someone in the backseat, but why the hell would they control the radio?! My car, I'm the one choosing the music, thank you very much. But it does have a lot of nice options via easy to install modules, 6 CD changer, satellite, the aforementioned DVD player, bluetooth, you can also hook it up with a standard AV input (which you can in turn get an adapter for for a standard 3.5mm jack), or USB connector, or an Ipod input. I think my sales guy misunderstood a comment I made and got me the Ipod connector (I like how the wire goes through the glove box, its neater and less cluttered than having a wire hanging from off the console).

Anyways, while my phone already has an MP3 player, one thing I found annoying about listening to music by plugging it to the aux port on the radio of the loaner car I had was that I could only control the music through the phone. Which is kinda hard to do while you're driving. But if you have an ipod hooked up, then you can control it via the main panel, which is easier than having to hold something and fiddle with the buttons while trying to drive. So since I apparently haven't splurged enough already, decided to get myself an 8 gig Ipod Nano for use with it. Hey, I usually have 2 video recording devices on me (my phone and the flip) so what's two mp3 players? Besides, the nano is tiny. And despite the way smaller screen, the video playback quality on it is way better than my phone (I have Dr. Horrible and an ep of Gossip Girl on it currently in addition to my music). But between all that and the flash drive on my keychain, could I have any more flash memory devices on me?

TV Commentary:

Sarah Connor Chronicles- Holy crap, that was a totally surprising ep!! They killed off Derek! I don't know what was more shocking, how quickly it happened (a terminator just pops one in his head without skipping a beat) or that there wasn't really any foreshadowing. And then in the end Sarah gets picked up by the cops! Of all the things Weaver would've pulled, getting her arrested wasn't the option I was expecting.

I'm trying to figure out if it would be the big news they made it out to be though. I mean, I guess she would prolly be involved in one of the biggest (if not the biggest) American law enforcement massacres in history from Terminator, and then the whole breaking out of a mental hospital, blowing up a building and killing some research scientist (I guess she was put in Pescadero after blowing up another cyberdyne building, right?). So I guess she would be kinda famous. But wasn't that 15 to 20 years ago?!

And ha, it was kinda funny that Savannah's teacher though John Henry was some kinda sicko pervert child molester. I was thinking that's the conclusion she would jump to when she saw Savannah chatting online in class.

Friday Night Lights- So Panthers make it to state. And lose. I do like how it was done though. They get slaughtered the first half because the Taylors called child services on the McCoys and JD is all messed up because of that. Matt comes in the second half, and he and Riggins (with even a little help from Lance! Ha, I'm amused they brought back that nickname for Landry) put them in the lead. But alas, they're unable to stop their opponents from getting within field goal range with 6 seconds left. It was kinda sad to see them hoping against hope, when it is a kick there's no way the kicker can miss.

But it was funny for the coach to give the speech that they played their best and they're all winnners. Well, JD never really got to redeem himself in the game. I mean, he sucked the first game, so everyone else had to play their best to get them back in the game. So doesn't that make him a loser?!

So Matt's going to art school in Chicago? I wasn't sure if his grandma stopped bratting and decided to let Matt go by the end. It seemed like after the talk with Julie she might. And are Landry and Tyra back together? Landry helps her with her college essay, and its interesting to find out its actually Jason getting crippled that caused her life direction change. Because if a hero like him can have a crappy thing happen to him, then maybe crap happens to everyone, and its not her lot to be a white trash stripper. Just like bad things can happen to good people, maybe if a bad person tried hard enough good things can happen to them.

Dollhouse- Interesting, so the promo last week was misleading. Not everyone got their memories back. Actually no one got their memories back, just their personalities, and just the principal dolls we've seen (Echo, Sierra, Victor, and November). Though what's up with them being in the same pod grouping now? Weren't Victor and November in extended missions outside with Ballard? I wouldn't think they'd switch pods around given how into routine the Dollhouse is. You'd think when we saw Sierra and Echo's pod room earlier, there'd be empty spaces.

Anyways, turns out the whole ep was Claire's brainchild (is it me, or are her scars healing? I guess I thought at first they were going for her being disfigured, but I guess it was just that the Alpha attack was recent and her scars are still healing and they're getting better?) that the Dolls have unresolved issues, and just need closure. Echo had to "rescue" everyone. Were they going for a whole Sarah Connor thing with her? Because she seems to be pretty skilled even without any of the special Doll skills. I thought the flashback last week, that she signed up with the Dollhouse after her bf got shot, but that doesn't really make sense. From what I've been able to piece together from other people's comments of that ep, I guess her bf dying caused her to go on some Sarah Connor-ish crusade against whatever company that was, and the whole 2 year dance Adele mentioned was that she was fighting against them for 2 years before finally getting caught, and she must've done something so horrible she decided to sign up with them despite what she knows?

Though with the talks she had with Topher and Adele, I'm curious if maybe the 5 year thing isn't bullshit. Though even if they get all that bank, didn't a lot of people supposedly join to forget something bad? Doesn't getting their memories back just put them back in that same position, albeit way richer? Though I guess not everyone was a volunteer as they said. Apparently Sierra (so the "real" her has the Aussie accent? HOTT!) was put in there by some rich bastard. Confronting him is what she needed, while November (was it me, or did she seem kinda slutty in her normal personality?) had to re-visit the grave of her dead daughter. Ha, and all Victor needed was to hook up with Sierra. Well, more like get her to like him.

Heh, in the B-plot, Helo has a weird dream where he's screwing Echo, gets confronted by Millie (at first, when he was in the middle of things and he was all, "I'm just giving her something she needs!" that mebbe it was Millie dreaming) then he turns into a nercophiliac because Echo turns into a corpse under him, while Millie starts dying and blaming him.

So he searches his apartment for bugs, which he finds, but they're super high tech. And whoops, while he was off doing that, he missed a call from Echo asking for his help when she was on her rescue the others mission. Whoops.
