Its not Seacaucus, Seacaucus!
Oct. 7th, 2008 01:07 amFricking frick, I can't believe I accidentally washed my earphones (since I left them in a pants pocket) when I did the laundry today.
Regarding tonight's HIMYM and NY vs NJ, who in their right mind would think NJ is better then NY?! It and Connecticut are just basically glorified suburbs of NYC anyways. So, its an okay place to live (particularly if you live in an area close to NYC), but no way is it cooler or superior to NY. I mean, what's so great about Jersey? It stinks! And I mean it in the smelly way! Seriously, just driving down the highways, its seriously rank! And all the gas stations are full service! Like how hard is it to pump your own gas!? And you think you have a physical and/or emotional connection with the chyx there, like you sleep with them at camp, or you help them take care of their nephew and show yourself to be a generally good guy, but then they don't talk to you ever again! But I digress. All in all, Jersey folks just secretly wish they were New Yorkers.
But some TV commentary:
HIMYM: On HIMYM, again, I like that they're taking the BrOTP slow. Like I said in a previous post, it would suck if they just threw Barney and Robin together immediately. But it can be frustrating for the fandom if they don't address it at all, like last ep. But then this ep, you have hardly any interaction at all, but then in the end, they throw the Barney/Robin-shippers a bone by ending the ep with Barney looking crushed when Robin says she got a job in Japan.
I'm glad they're running with the BrOTP though. As I said, I was pleasantly surprised that it became canon, given the number of other pairings I think would be cool in various fandoms that I doubt would ever be realized. Like they'd never really do Dasey on LWD (I mean, they're step-siblings, that's a little too risque, particularly for something that's more of a family show). And I'm skeptical they'd ever do Zutara, the hero can't not get the girl (couldn't they just pair Aang off with Toph?). Though with the current plots on Gossip Girl, I can see them doing Dair. I mean, with Dan and Serena and Blair and Chuck on the outs, with Dan on both Chuck and Serena's shite-lists, and Blair despising both of them, what better way to get them together than uniting them against common enemies? I am so lame.
Chuck- What's with all the Huey Lewis songs on Chuck this season? Ah, last year they had Rachel Bilson on Chuck, now they have a guest spot with Melinda Clarke. I've seen pics of Willa Holland on the Gossip Girl set, so its nice to see OC people still getting work on Schwartz's newer shows. So Bryce is back from whatever mission they sent him on? Like they didn't throw enough obstacles in Chuck and Sarah's way? Though I guess he's made it obvious he's pursuing her no matter what the consequences, and her feelings for him are pretty transparent, even though they try to make it like she's effectively hiding it when in fact its totally obvious. So they needed some other wedge in between them.
And was Morgan trying to screw over Captain Awesome, or is it that Morgan is just so out of touch that he has this image of Ellie in his mind, and that's what he's been crushing on all these years, even though its nothing like the real her? Or has she changed, but Morgan never bothered to update his info, and again, he's just going by an idealized version of her from when they were younger?
Heroes- So on Heroes, the chick in the paintings is Daphne? I mean they had the same hairstyle, but I was just thinking it was just a koinky-dink, because Matt hadn't even met her yet, and now they're supposedly a couple in the future. But ha, I guess since the girl playing Molly is getting older too, the only way they could use her was in the flash forward! I totally forgot Sylar (or rather, Gabriel) has Ted's radioactive power, but as soon as he blew up, I knew they were gonna have a seen where she shows up and you think she's okay, but then she'd be all, "I wasn't fast enough!"
But why the hell did they not bring the Haitian along that time?! I mean, they showed the proper way to kill Peter earlier in the ep, get the Haitian nearby, and he's just as killable as anyone else. But then when they used Molly to find present Peter, once they learned he was in Costa Verde, they knew he had to be looking for Sylar, which means that's double the reason to have the Haitian around, since you have two people (Peter and Gabriel) who are invincible. But they send Claire with Daphne and Knox? Like what if little Noah wasn't around (interesting that Sylar named his kid after Noah), Knox would be useless. Daphne I guess is a reasonable choice. With Peter having Hiro's time freezing power and her just being reduced to normal speed when they do the time stop rather than frozen fully, she has some use.
And why did Peter have to visit Sylar anyways? He's met him enough times that he should have Sylar's power already. Though I guess they've kinda expanded his powers to be a weird "knowing how things work" sort of deal, and the power suckage is just him doing some sort of psychic surgery on his brain to get powers since he understands how these other folks brains work. and since Peter just naturally absorbed those powers, he'd have no use for Sylar's powers and thus would never have occasion to use them. Or rather learn how to use them. But then learning how to use them gave him Sylar's "hunger" for powers?
Sarah Connor Chronicles- Heh, on Terminator, I know they're trying to make it clear to the audience that this person or that is really the Garbage chick in disguise, but its doesn't really make sense for her to change back to her Shirley Manson form like one second after the disguise is no longer needed. Like, why wouldn't she just change back after she drove a distance a way after killing the nuclear plant guy, so there won't be any witnesses who would be all, "Oh, I saw that CEO chick in the alley around the time the guy died"!
The plot with Sarah and the kid was cute, but I'm skeptical the kid would be that friendly with her. Yeah, she saved him from a guy trying to kill him, but you'd think he'd be a little more traumatized by the fact some big brute tried to plug him full of holes.
Oh, and I know they were trying to be ready, but given people wander those woods regularly, was it really wise for Derek to be setting claymores all over the place? And wasn't he worried people would be all, "why are you wandering around the woods carrying a huge ass .50 caliber sniper rifle?" I mean, it has a very specialized role, so there's no reason a teacher or whatever the hell he was posing as would be carrying it. And that's a really heavy gun, no way he'd be able to run that fast carrying it.
