TV commentary-

True Blood- Interesting setup this episode. spoiler cut )

Warehouse 13- Heh, its Lassie and Captain Vick. Does this show do one ep a season with a pair of folks from other shows? There was the ep with Simon and Kaylee from Firefly, and the one with Jo and Zane from Eureka. spoiler cut )

Major Crimes- Hey, couple of cuties in this ep, Jenn Proske from Vampires Suck and Haley Webb from the Final Destination! The Jenn girl was blond in this ep, which is slightly disappointing, because she looks way hotter as a brunette.

Perception- Cool, the Stimulus Package girl with the nice rack is back. She should be around more, after all, it doesn't seem like too much time has passed on the show, so he should still be in the same semester and thus still have her as a student.

WO blather- more character commentary:

Orochi/Orochi-X: Obviously, being the bosses of the game, they're quite beastly. Orochi-X is definitely the more powerful one, but he has a smaller moveset than others. He only gets as high as a C4. Not that he needs that much else. And apparently he can't be hit out of attacks, so that means I don't need to use up one of his item slots for Iron Gauntlets.

Zhuge Dan: He's actually pretty good, mainly because of his R1 special. It summons a whirlwind shield around him, which you can stack. So you can put that up and just wade into the thick of it.

Magoichi: Ah, I can see how he ranks so low. The ranged weapon users definitely have disadvantages, particularly with keeping people off them. But he also has sucky weapon attribute activation. I'm not even sure which attack they activate off of! I guess brilliance will help, but it doesn't work on absorption/osmosis. Before I played him, I was going to give him osmosis since he's a wonder character. So I was trying to figure out what I needed to forgo, because it seems he definitely needed typhoon and echo to keep people off him and briliance to put a hurt on them. But since it doesn't seem like osmosis will get activated all that much, I don't see the point.

Huang Gai: Huh, I thought when they decloned the DW7 movesets in WO3, at least one person had the original moveset? Because I know Xu Zhu has some new moves, as he has the bouncing ball thing. But Huang Gai definitely doesn't have the normal club moveset. Is there another club user I'm forgetting about?!

Zhu Rong: She seems a tad safer than Yuanji, since her attacks aren't solely knife throwing. She does have a nice charge that's good for wading into enemies and I guess fighting you war out of trouble.

Ma Dai: Eh, he's not bad, but not particularly good either. His EX-attack is a little long, leaving him vulnerable, but luckily, he's a wonder character, so he can spirit charge out of it.

TV commentary:

Eureka- Series finale. Solid ending with reappearances by various characters, a few in-jokes, like the whole "I thought we had 6 more weeks?" Owel. I'm glad they managed to wrap things up satisfyingly given the constraints.

Degrassi- Season premiere. Heh, I'm curious what Chloe Rose's heritage is, because her eyes are, different. I mean, the new intro (I guess she's going to go all goth this year?) since she's sporting the black hair, at first I was all, "Wait, who's that Asian girl?" Anyways, wow, Drew is just an idiot. Granted, I can see how hard it can be to break up with Katie since she looked like a kicked puppy for most of this ep, but Bianca's way hotter (like how hot does she look in the intro?) and he shouldn't mess that up. That, and the new Bianca doesn't deserve such treatment.

Getting back to the intro, what's with them having Fiona and Drew hanging together? Have their story lines intersected at all? Oh wait, I guess there was the whole thing when she was interested in Adam, but I digress. I hope that isn't indicative of them getting together. Because what about Bianca and Imogen?

I'm not feeling the new hockey folks, but the new Christian girl is cute and amusing.

Lost Girl- Hmm, so Lachlan isn't a bad guy? And I wonder if that vision Bo had, if it was actually that shifter who attacks Trick, and not herself? Because they never showed them again this ep after Bo worker her mojo on it to get that ring Trick wanted. So the shifter would prolly be looking for revenge.

The Closer- A Provenza/Flynn mess up ep, so this one was more light hearted than the season premiere. And hey, its Sunny Maybrey. I disagree with [livejournal.com profile] clevemire, as I think she looks better as a blond, just like Jennifer Morrison and Emile De Ravin. iafgv('Its a fact!')

TV commentary:

Eureka- Hey, Holly's no longer a Hollygram and has a spanking new body. But interesting turn of events this episode. spoiler cut )
geebs: (Default)
TV commentary:

Eureka- So what's up with no one even batting an eye when Holly-gram was all, "Do you know what its like to go through life not being able to touch yourself?" I mean, she obviously didn't mean in that way, but its just a really odd way to phrase it. Given her current predicament she could of said touch others or touch anything, or said what its like to be unable to feel. How can you not think dirty thoughts when someone talks about not being able to touch themselves.

And I forget, are all the Z-wave mishaps involving Carter because he was jacked in remotely? Or is it that he's the main character and thus the only focus when something happens to him? Because if that z-wave interaction with whatever Kevin dosed him with works on anyone who was in the machine, why have they glossed over that? I mean, the only reason they "cured" Jack was because Alison's all, "You're no longer the man I married!" and I was screwing over friends like Deputy Andy in the name of science. But if whatever Kevin did boosted Jack's brain power, I would think one of the Astreus folks would start experimenting with that, since they don't have the same concerns as Jack.

Lost Girl- Was this episode an exercise in having the cast do bad Southern and Irish accents? Also, Bo's hairstyle this ep made her look way hotter than she normally does. [livejournal.com profile] clevemire thinks its because it distracted from her striking nose.

WO blather- So, finally got some gold star abilities for weapons of various characters. It seems having high prosperity is almost essential though, that way you get a lot of weapon drops- I've been grinding on Rescue at Yi Ling, and with Prosperity +10, I was getting 5-8 weapons. Of course, it does get frustrating when none of the those weapons have gold abilities, or if they do, its like confluence or something.

Anyways, after tinkering around with the game a bit. It seems the must haves on your weapon are wind, slay, and absorption. Everyone should have these. Not to say other things like agility and bolt are non-essential, most people should have them, but there are a few where it might not be the best. I mean, let's go over the weapon attributes: cut for your benefit )

TV commentary:

Eureka- Wait, Holly is a hologram and they didn't make some sort of Holly-gram joke?

Lost Girl- Is it me, or did that one Bo scene seem totally ripped off from Galadriel being offered the ring in FotR? And heh, it almost seemed like she and Lauren were going to do it over the Doc's cursed girlfriend there at the end.

Also, why the frick did they refer to liches as "licks". Its lich! Isn't it? I mean, its not "Wrath of the Lick King". And they definitely had to be referring to liches in the classic undead wizard sense, because they mentioned phylacteries. Or where they trying to be like fae and magick and do things all weirdly. Though in those cases they just spell it funny, they don't pronounce it funny!

WO blather- I think I've mentioned before, the 4 elements people seem to agree on as must haves are bolt/slay/wind/absorption. Well, brilliance is on there too, which imbues all attacks with the elements you have equipped, not just particular charge attacks, but that's one of the gold abilities, which I don't have any of yet, as I have yet to tackle the game on hard. But yeah, from what I hear, with bolt/slay/wind maxed and together, you're supposedly taking off 6.5% of the officers' life bars per attack, while brawn/might makes you do 1.2x more damage for your attacks. Supposedly, in the end they're more or less the same damage output wise. Of course, bolt adds stun and wind punches through guard, so it seems those are better in general.

As for the other 4 (well 3, since brilliance sounds like a must have) it seems up in the air. Ice seems cool (ha!) but I guess its not actually that good. I get snowed (ha again!) by its effectiveness because certain characters it seems to go off with more than others, but while freezing the enemy seems useful, its actually not, because while you're hacking away at them all frozen in place like that, with other elements, you can be pushing them back on them move whilst hitting other folks. So I should really drop it from anyone who has it.

Osmosis is kinda good because it lets you get musou back without having to switch out, but I guess that's only useful for those characters who's musous and special attacks I use a lot. Which in turn makes destruction and/or frenzy more useful. I guess flak is pretty good for specific characters as well, particularly zhao yun and zhang he, who's ex-attacks drill the enemy up into the air, and they can follow up with several normal attack whilst still in the air, so they make the most of the benefit. I guess it takes special consideration for each character, which is good that there's not a best for everyone, as variety is the spice of life.

Interesting, according to the ranking systems I've seen, Xiahou Ba is apparently the best (he must have some cheap trick that can be spammed, heh, I'm sounding like Zhong Hui right now). And Nu Wa and Mitsuhide are right below him in the second tier. I have yet to play Nu Wa, I haven't played her since DW3 or 4, whichever was the last game she was in. I guess I remember her being a beast back then. And actually, they released her moveset in DW7 as DLC, and it was indeed really good. I can see Akechi being considered that strong because he has a really solid moveset. He just has so many good moves, and he has good stats all around that he does decent damage, and he's fast enough to get his really high charge attacks out without getting interrupted. His c8 in particular is ultra safe, as it just carves a swath around him, but the same can be said for most of his other moves, he's very hard to interrupt, which is important in this game.

Interesting, the tier right below that (which also contains Xu Huang and Keiji, and we're at "best" at that point, as apparently Xiahou Ba ranks as ridiculously overpowered, and Nu Wa and Mitsuhide as slightly less powerful, and then comes the next tier, which are the consistently top characters) includes Joan of Arc, whom I have not tried yet, so she apparently ranks higher than Achilles, even though in real life, I would think Achilles would totally kick Joan of Arc's ass.

People rank here and there after that, but apparently Magoichi and Goemon are the worst. I can see Magoichi being so low. I mean, he's a cool character, but his moveset is just lousy. Like I remember in SW, he was the one that was hardest to play, because even the slow guys at least have some good moves to make up for their slowness. But Magoichi just didn't have anything positive about his moves. And despite being armed with a rifle, he actually doesn't have good range because the shots don't come out until after a few melee attacks, which aren't nearly as fast to get through as the bowmen from DW like Huang Zhong and Xiahou Yuan.

I thought this was kinda amusing, Fifty Shades of Blue, with Selena Gomez and Nick Kroll.

Also, I tried my hand at drawing a new gun, the Keltec KSG shotgun. These are my attempts:

The details are nowhere near close to the real thing and the scale is way off, but I think I'm starting to get a feel for the general design. But if I get my Salieri from Last Action Hero on, I think I can do better.

Here's my rough sketch of the H-K G28 sniper rifle:

Eh, close enough. I drew it with the stock retracted and less kibble- my drawing lacks the vertical foregrip, harris-style bipod, and side mounted flashlight. Though I did keep the reflex sight on top of the scope.

TV commentary:

House- Heh, lots of old faces in the series finale. Except for Cuddy of course, since she said she was totally dunzo with this show. spoiler cut )

Eureka- Its funny that they're still on this Alison/Carter/Jo/Zane thing. When they had Jo and Carter married in the matrix, I thought it was just an amusing joke. I'm surprised the show is actually having this as a major plotline. spoiler cut )

Lost Girl- I think a few weeks ago, I was remarking about Bo's painted on pants, but geez, what was up with Kenzi's jeans this ep. Could they be any tighter? They leave little room for the imagination! Not that that's a problem. spoiler cut )

So Amy Pond digs Community and Inspector Spacetime:

I still say, anyone who doesn't think she's the hottest of the Doctor Who companions is insane. Though I guess to be fair, I never watched the old show, so maybe some of those other companions were like smoking hot back in the day. But she's easily the hottest of the new batch.

TV commentary:

Hawaii Five-O- Now that I've actually seen last night's ep. 1) Oh, I'm so sure Kono's going to die. So instead of Billy Baldwin having his henchman put a bullet in her head, he just has him push her overboard?! I mean, I know her hands and feet were bound and all, but unlike getting shot, this is something she could easily and conceivably escape (on TV, that is) 2) Shellburn's identity wasn't that big a surprise. Rule #63 of TV dramas, if a parent dies under mysterious circumstances when one of the main chracter's was a kid, they're not really dead.

Eureka- Hey, Alli's fit. But really, the Zane-Carter switch, could Carter have handled that any more badly? I can understand him not revealing himself when he switched with Fargo, because he didn't want Vizzini thinking Fargo was nuts. (Although given the nature of Eureka, you'd think they could explain they switched bodies and he would've easily believed them! As Wallace Shawn said, he was troubled that they did decide to lie over something that's completely understandable and out of their hands) But I digress, why the hell did he not tell Jo about the body switching when she hopped in the shower with him-as-Zane, instead of blowing her off? Also, I'm amused Zane thought was Carter did was worse, because he thought he was just dreaming when he was in bed with Alli. Why would he say that? Because shouldn't Jo be all, "Oh, so if Allison is acting all sexy in a dream to you, you're going to try and nail her?!"

Also, was Zane always this conceited? And what the frick?! So when Allison and Carter switch, Jo for some reason decides to go to Carter to clear the air and relieve the tension between them by saying they should just admit they have thought about hooking up so they can get past it. But could Allison as Carter telling Jo "No way!" sound any more rjv('Cold blooded!') And Jo actually seemed hurt by this! And then they zoomed in on her reaction when Carter proposed to Allison. They're not really seriously going down this love-square route, are they?

And what the hell is a potato ring?! Oh, nm, rewinding, they were beer battered curly fries. I guess he just meant it was a ring made out of potato. For a minute there, I thought that was a thing. Like onion rings, only potato. And now I have a hankering for a bbq bacon bleu-cheeseburger.

TV commentary:

Make It or Break It- I knew it! spoiler cut )

Eureka- Heh, I thought it was amusing Alison was all, that wasn't your Henry in the matrix, because technically Henry isn't her Henry either, because of the whole alt-verse thing. Well, I suppose its not her original Henry, but she learned to adjust to this Henry. Glad they did vaguely reference it in the end.

TV commentary:

Hawaii Five-O- Heh, so were they always going to do this Hawaii Five-O/NCIS:LA crossover, or was this because the guy who plays McGarrett is in rehab? Do they think the rest of the cast, sans Steve can carry an ep without some crazy stunt?

Eureka- I still disbelieve! spoiler cut )

Came across this piece of Glee fanfic, Deadly Four, which imagines Faberrittana as a group of hottie lesbian killers. I usually read corny fluff or angsty (but not too angsty) fic, but this one intrigued me, because if there's one thing I love, its hottie lesbian assassins. Well, hottie assassins don't necessarily need to be lesbos for me to like them, but it does give them bonus points.

TV commentary:

Eureka- (Weird, I don't actually have a Eureka tag, apparently? I figured I've mentioned the show more than a few times, which is usually enough for me to tag a show) Anyways, returning from last season's last crazy cliffhanger, the show flips the scripts yet again! spoiler cut )

Hart of Dixie- Speaking of scripts getting flipped, things hit the fan in this ep! spoiler cut )
