Oh, the other day Family Guy made a joke about that tv-movie "starring a cast of people that make you say 'oh', because you didn't know they were still acting". Granted, David Faustino seems to be doing mostly voice work nowadays, but hey, he was Mako in LoK! And apparently Grant Show has been in a bunch of stuff since Melrose (not to mention Swingtown) according to his imdb profile. Apparently he was in a few eps of Burn Notice? Why do I not remember that? But Rachael Leigh Cook and Robin Tunney are female leads on their very own shows! Sure, RLC's show was just canceled and the Mentalist is in its final season. But I thought the Mentalist was kinda popular back in the day. Also, their go to for Robin Tunney is "the bald chick from Empire Records"? Though I guess if they said, that chick from the Craft, they might have though Fairuza Balk or Neve Campbell. She at least ranks over whoever the fourth girl was.

So the music from this week's upcoming ep of Glee is out. Apparently its a bunch of Carole King and Alanis Morissette songs, which seems like a pretty random combination. And I'm kind annoyed they used some of my least favorite Alanis songs. Like "Hand in Pocket". Its just such a weird song! I can't believe Dawson's Creek was originally going to use it as it's theme song, because "I Don't Want to Wait" just seems so iconic to that show. Like if they used the Alanis song, it might have turned me off of the show. Like my whole life could be different because I wouldn't have watched it!

But I digress, here's the tunes:

It's Too Late- Klaine duet of the Carole King classic. Pretty good!

So Far Away- Another Carole King classic, done by Quinn and Tina. Have they ever had a song together? They sound amazing on this.

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Head Over Feet- sung by Jane and Mason. I'm actually curious about how this song will play out in the show, like why is Mason singing with Jane instead of his sister? Will it end up being a the twins are a little too close, so the club is having them sing with other people? But yeah, I think this is the best of the mashups, because I like the sound of the new newbies in this.

You Learn/You've Got a Friend- An ensemble number. You've Got a Friend is one of my all time favorite songs, so I'm not too keen on them mashing it up with something. Particularly You Learn, since they don't really seem like they go together. I mean, it doesn't sound as discordant as I expected. Its not great, its fine.

Hand in Pocket/I Feel the Earth Move- Britanna duet. Heh, like I said above, my disdain for Hand in Pocket may have prejudiced me a little against this, but it does at least sound kinda fun.

Watching a House marathon right now, which reminds me of medical drama rule #62. Several patients are suffering from the same infection, and they think it might be one of two things. So they treat them for both, but one of them is causing kidney shutdown, and they can't tell which. So they have to take them off one of them, but if its the wrong one, the infection will take over and kill them. So they decide to take one patient off one, and another patient off the other. That will possibly kill one or the other. And it does. However, since they basically flipped a coin and condemned one of them to die to save the others, and that's a pretty heavy thing that would have them wracked with guilt for months. Thus, what ends up happening is that neither thing they thought what it was is what it was, so the patient would have died either way and the characters don't have to feel as bad.

What's with the confusing US Open scheduling? There were no new Burn Notices for the past two weeks, so I assumed there were no new Monks or Psychs either. But apparently not! Good thing they repeat them a jillion times over the weekend.

If last night's Swingtown is the last one ever, I will be sorely disappointed. Its good as a season finale, but there are too many questions left open as a series finale. And I thought the creators said it would work as a series finale?! spoiler comments )

Ha, I am such an idiot! The reason I was sticking with certain color schemes for the character's outfits in Soul Calibur was because some equipment had a duller color palette than others. Thus, it seemed only by doing white or black would the colors seem to match. Well, I saw toying around with the colors today, and I only now just freakin' realized you could adjust the brightness of the color palettes! So I was all egg-cited because now I could color coordinate things with different colors than I'd been using! Now the characters I made look much better now, IMO.

TV commentary:

Ha, just like I initially didn't recognize Tom as being Jake from Melrose because of the cheesy 70s mustache, I totally didn't realize Janet's possibly queer pal from work was Tobey from Dawson's Creek. HA!! I thought his voice sounded familiar, so I looked it up. I guess in addition to the mustache, his hair is totally different. I mean, even on Crossing Jordan and his really brief appearance on Angel, his hair was the same. But on Swingtown his hair is red and parted to the side.

But onto some spoiler comments: under the cut )

One thing I'll mention out of the cut. I totally glossed over the fact that Susan didn't know Roger was a Cubs fan, not a White Sox fan, but the forums were all, that's pretty bad. And thinking about it, I guess not knowing your husband's favorite sports team after 17+ years of marriage is weird. Even if you yourself aren't into sports, it seems like something one would end up knowing just by spending time with them.

Oh, saw commercials for Simon Baker's Mentalist show coming out this season. They try to act like he's something special, but isn't what he does the same thing as Monk or Shawn Spencer or that one chick detective on Lifetime or We or whatever? They are also very observant, its nothing we haven't seen on TV before. And unlike the "painfully cute mugging" of Psych, he seems rather obnoxious with his gift.
