Oh man, if they don't bring warriors orochi 3 ultimate to the US I will be so sad. They brought back unique triple attacks:

Lots of obvious teams there, based on either association (ninja gaiden girls, 3/5 of the tiger generals, the simas) or common themes (guns, musicians). Its like they added a lot of neat little things, and the fact that the WO3 save works so I wouldn't have to start from scratch, I will be quite disappointed if we don't get it here.
geebs: (vain)
So I saw you can indeed import Warriors Orochi 3 data into the upcoming Warriors Orochi 3 ultimate. Which is good, since I've done so much in 3 already. But, I haven't seen any word of it coming out in America yet. If it doesn't I will be sad! Like before, I was thinking you couldn't import the data, so I was fine if it wasn't coming out here. But now that I know you can, I want it! I mean, even if we don't get all those DW8 additions, we at least get Xu Shu (not to be confused with that fat mongoloid Xu Chu) from DW7 Empires, plus the entire cast of Ninja Gaiden they added in WO3 Special and Hyper, like Kasumi, Rachel, and Momiji, plus Sophitia from Soul Calibur and some others.

Of course, I haven't actually touched WO3 in a while because of ME3 multiplayer. Which, I had mentioned before I finished every single challenge under the weapons tab. I'm a good way through the aliens tab. I'm just 67 waves away from completing Machine mastery. I just need to finish one more challenge to complete Rebellion as well. I was thinking of completing it with the Phoenix vanguard, since I already have 2 out of 10 extractions. I hear the QFI can do pretty well against Geth since she has sabotage, but I haven't gotten the hang of that power yet. Like when I hack the Geth, they don't seem to be killing their allies all that well.

That leaves resurgence and outsider mastery. Resurgence, I have 2 challenges left. I did unexpectedly well with the Geth Infiltrator- like I was only gonna play him long enough to complete the geth prox mine challenge since that was way quicker than doing 200 waves with a character. But I managed to solo extract just fine. But that leaves 1 more to do from either Geth Engineer, Batarian Sentinel, or Asari Justicar, none of which I'm good with, but its also been a long time since I've used them, and I've gotten better.

As for outsider, that's gonna be tough. I refuse to play a volus, but I'm only at 3 out of 7. I'm okay with the awakened collector, haven't messed with the talon mercenary, but since its waves and not extracts, I can prolly manage. Which still leaves 2 more, the phoenix characters and the drell. I could prolly use the phoenix vanguard, but I'm not too keen on the adept, and the drell are kinda squishy. But I hear decent things about the drell vanguard, and again, I haven't tried playing him in a long time, and I have gotten better at the game.

ME blather- Got the gunslinger banner today, so the last actual weapon challenge left is the sniper one. Hey, I saved the best for last. I'm kinda cheating though, I'm using the Juggernaut in London vs Cerberus to get this one to pop. I love the Infiltrators, but they are just way too flimsy to complete the sniper rifle challenge solo. It would take way too long if I tried to complete the challenge with one of them. With the juggernaut, they can't really do anything to me.

Like I said last post, did the Widow, and completed the Collector Sniper Rifle. Now I'm doing it in descending order of which ones already had points towards the challenge in them- so, currently working on the Black Widow, followed by the Valiant, then the Mantis. At that point, I guess its descending power order- Viper, Raptor, and finally Indra.

Oh, another reason I'll never get best of the best- one of the challenge is N7 mastery, which is promoting classes 60 times. Which, eff that. I've promoted the Adept once and the Engineer twice now. I was able to max the Adept back up, and I foolishly promoted the engineer again after I got it back up. Never again! Its like, "ooh, my N7 ranking goes up, and I get extra assets in single player". I could give a rat's ass about the N7 ranking, and I'm already at the point where I have enough assets to easily fulfill all of the ending requirements in single player.

Its like, I've reached level 20, why the hell would I want to knock myself back down to level one and be all weak again?! Some people are all, "Oh, what about challenge?!" Eff challenge, I just like killing things. I like being powerful. Its why I love the DW/SW/WO games- its just cutting through swaths of bad guys and feeling like a war god. And why AC3 is my favorite, because you basically have to be a gimp to die from a fight in that game. You're well nigh unstoppable in that one. Why would I want to play a game where I'm weak?! That's totally retarded, video games are escapist fantasy, anyone who's all, "Oh, I like things to be so hard!" is a cocky little shit.

TV commentary:

Glee- You know, Becca Tobin is way cuter with her hair down, when she has her hair pulled back in a pony, it makes her look old.

Vampire Diaries- Actually, I don't mind the whole sire bond thing with Damon and Elena. Because it will just lead to Damon being all upset and worrying that what he and Elena have isn't real, and you know how much I eat that shit up.

Anyways, trying to finish up AC3 and WO3 before Mass Effect Trilogy. I could prolly finish WO3 quicker if I didn't get slowed down trying to raise bonds in an efficient manner. I mean, everyone's at least level 60, and Speed is of the Essence is a guaranteed 8-10 levels per playthrough, plus around 8-10 levels worth of growth points. So like I said, if I just didn't care about bonds, I could've gotten everyone to 99 by now. But I feel its a waste of points not to do it right.

In AC3, I'm one mission away from the last sequence, at which point its the point of no return. So, I'm finishing up all the side stuff. I'm done with the homestead, and I finished all of the navy stuff. Its too bad there wasn't more boarding missions. Because as fun as the naval combat was, I did like the few boarding sequences you get.

I will say the game can be a little too easy, at least combat wise, both for Connor and the ship stuff. Granted, I did upgrade the Aquila to max before I started tackling the missions, but the only time I was actually worried was when I had to protect another boat. Otherwise, three man-o-wars vs the Aquila, the win is already guaranteed. And unless I eff around too much, its rare that I come close to danger in a fight. Like I said, the forts, there's prolly a slick way to do them, but honestly, its quicker and easier to just walk in the front gate and slaughter everyone.

But I've never had a problem with games being too easy.
geebs: (Default)
AC blather- So I hadn't actually checked out any of that Uplay stuff, even back during Brotherhood. I mean, I saw I got points for certain actions in the game, and that you could redeem those points for something, but I had no idea I'd actually accumulated enough points to get something useful. Like I thought they gave you some points to give you a taste, but you had to do like multiplayer or something to rack up a high enough point total to get something.

But nope, it looks like the normal in-game actions get you enough points to get something useful. I had more than enough points to get the ammo capacity upgrades for all my stuff, so that was good.

I also didn't know Uplay points carried across all the Ubisoft games. After learning how Uplay actually worked, I loaded up Brotherhood and after loading up my saved game, got a bunch of points since I had done all the Uplay actions in Brotherhood. So I got a gun capacity upgrade for Ezio, and I noticed I could spend those points on AC3, so I used the points to unlock the Ezio outfit for Connor. Not that I'd use it, since you're stuck with the base white and red colors. I've actually been using the NY outfit, which is black with red trimmings.

But yeah, I guess they give you enough points in game to get all the goodies, so I actually have enough points to get a few outfits for Ezio in Brotherhood. Its too bad I didn't know about this when I was actually playing Brotherhood. I mean, I don't really care about the outfits, but I coulda used the extra bullets for the hidden gun.

And I finally did a counter kill with a snare, Connor will get it around the guy's neck to flip him onto the floor and use it to strangle a dude. Hmm, I wonder if you can use it to assassinate all garrote-style?

Looks like the last batch of DLC for WO3 came out today, which I got. So now I have access to all the costumes. I finally got everyone to S rank and maxed out their weapon compatibilities. I almost have everyone's weapons the way I want them, and once that's taken care of, just need to max out special relationships and get everyone to level 99. Which shouldn't be too hard, there's enough interesting DLC stages that offer a lot of xp. That should tide me over video game wise until Assassin's Creed 3 comes out.

FPSRussia reviewing the 1216 shotgun:

Oh-em-gee, I am so dumb, I had heard of the 1216 shotgun, but I never put together that the 1216 stood for 12 gauge, 16 rounds. Anyhoo, its just a tad longer than the Kel-Tec KSG, but holds 4 more rounds.

Both are innovative new shotgun designs (well, the 1216 is, the over-barrel dual tube design used by the KSG has been around a while, since at least the 90s with the South African Neostead shotgun), so I think inevitable comparisons can be made.

I'm kinda curious which has the faster rate of fire and which is more user friendly. I mean, on the one hand, the 1216 is semi-auto while the KSG is pump action. However, there's less of a learning curve with the KSG since it works just like a pump action. The 1216, you have to get used to firing four rounds, then rotating the magazine to the next 4, and so forth, until you've expended all your rounds. Additionally, while the 1216 holds 2 more rounds than the KSG, its 4x4 compared to the KSG's 2x7. The KSG currently can be set to feed from the left tube or the right tube (there was talk of the design being tweaked so it would be able to do alternating feed like the Neostead, but I'm not sure if that ever came to fruition). So which has me curious, with minimal training, is it faster for someone to pump and fire those 7 rounds from one magazine, or for the fire 4 rounds semi-automatically, then switch to the next magazine and fire the next set of rounds? Like I said, the pump action is more familiar, but how much familiarity will one need to fire and magazine rotate quickly and without error?

The 1216 does have a huge advantage ammunition wise. It holds more rounds, and has 4 tubes compared to the KSG's 2, which means more ammo types if you need it (so you could switch between non-lethal rounds, buckshot for stopping power, slugs for longer range, and breaching rounds to get through doors) And not only that, you could carry multiple of the four tube mags on you, so you can easily switch out once you've fired all 16 rounds, whereas the KSG loads like a normal shotgun. So after you've expended those 14 rounds, you have to painstakingly reload both tubes, which may not be practical in the heat of battle.

Wilfred- Didn't this end somewhat offensively? spoiler cut )

WO blather- Currently working on Magoichi, Huang Gai and Pang Tong. The first two I just need to max out their weapons. Pang Tong is basically a fresh character. But yeah, after I finish up Pang Tong and Huang Gai, that finishes up all the major DW faction folks, leaving only Zhang Jiao and Meng Huo from DW. So who do I have left to max?

Others 1: Zhang Jiao, Meng Huo, Da Ji, Sun Wukong, Kiyomori Taira

Others 2: Himiko, Dodomeki and Gyuki (actually, I just have to level them up a bit more and max out their weapons, I had gotten their personal skill to S a long time ago, since Dodomeki is the one that lets you rank faster and Gyuji is the one who lets your weapon rank go up faster, but amusingly enough, I haven't even used them all that much for that), Sanzang, Benkei, Shuten Doji

Samurai 1: Okuni, Shingen Takeda

Samurai 2: Yoshimoto Imagawa, Ieyasu Tokugawa, Nene

Samurai 3: Hanbei Takanaka, Goemon Ishikawa

18? That's not too bad.

Warehouse 13- Heh, its Lassie and Captain Vick. Does this show do one ep a season with a pair of folks from other shows? There was the ep with Simon and Kaylee from Firefly, and the one with Jo and Zane from Eureka. spoiler cut )

Major Crimes- Hey, couple of cuties in this ep, Jenn Proske from Vampires Suck and Haley Webb from the Final Destination! The Jenn girl was blond in this ep, which is slightly disappointing, because she looks way hotter as a brunette.

Perception- Cool, the Stimulus Package girl with the nice rack is back. She should be around more, after all, it doesn't seem like too much time has passed on the show, so he should still be in the same semester and thus still have her as a student.

WO blather- more character commentary:

Orochi/Orochi-X: Obviously, being the bosses of the game, they're quite beastly. Orochi-X is definitely the more powerful one, but he has a smaller moveset than others. He only gets as high as a C4. Not that he needs that much else. And apparently he can't be hit out of attacks, so that means I don't need to use up one of his item slots for Iron Gauntlets.

Zhuge Dan: He's actually pretty good, mainly because of his R1 special. It summons a whirlwind shield around him, which you can stack. So you can put that up and just wade into the thick of it.

Magoichi: Ah, I can see how he ranks so low. The ranged weapon users definitely have disadvantages, particularly with keeping people off them. But he also has sucky weapon attribute activation. I'm not even sure which attack they activate off of! I guess brilliance will help, but it doesn't work on absorption/osmosis. Before I played him, I was going to give him osmosis since he's a wonder character. So I was trying to figure out what I needed to forgo, because it seems he definitely needed typhoon and echo to keep people off him and briliance to put a hurt on them. But since it doesn't seem like osmosis will get activated all that much, I don't see the point.

Huang Gai: Huh, I thought when they decloned the DW7 movesets in WO3, at least one person had the original moveset? Because I know Xu Zhu has some new moves, as he has the bouncing ball thing. But Huang Gai definitely doesn't have the normal club moveset. Is there another club user I'm forgetting about?!

Zhu Rong: She seems a tad safer than Yuanji, since her attacks aren't solely knife throwing. She does have a nice charge that's good for wading into enemies and I guess fighting you war out of trouble.

Ma Dai: Eh, he's not bad, but not particularly good either. His EX-attack is a little long, leaving him vulnerable, but luckily, he's a wonder character, so he can spirit charge out of it.

WO blather- New DLC out this week, including the DW costumes for SW characters. For some reason Bao and Zhurong's outfits look even skimpier on Gracia and No. One of the new DLC stages, "Speed Is of the Essence", seems great for maxing everyone out. Its my favorite kinda stage, just you versus everyone. No allies to babysit, and no bond missions to hamstring you by forcing you to not use musou. And, given the stage is basically grading you on how fast you can beat it (giving you a 15 minute time limit), it doesn't take too long.

But yeah, basically, there are so many enemies you can't swing your weapon without hitting something. So not only do you get a lot of kills (a minimum of 5000, which is double the average number of kills I'd get on the previous "good" stages for leveling up) which means more exp and more rewards for beating the level, your TTA gauge fills up fast because you're carving through folks left and right, which means more triple attacks and more gems (I've been getting 35-55K, it seems!) Plus, there is just a ton of officers, so with prosperity you're getting like more than a dozen weapons (and given its a ten star stage, they have good attributes)

My fastest time so far is 13 minutes. Which I thought was fair, given it gave me a ranking of "swift", but it also says I can do better. I prolly could do it faster if I ignored a lot of the scrubs and went for only the important officers, but its always been hard for me to not kill enemies. Which is why my times on speed runs aren't too hot, because like the Dread Pirate Roberts, I don't like leaving survivors. In any case, I did find out in the mission I was killing Orochi X too fast there at the end, because there was this big boat showing up, and I was all, "what's with the friggin boat?" right before killing the big guy. But I guess it actually releases a couple of supply captains who give you even more rewards!

Walking Dead- I kinda needed that! spoiler cut )

TV commentary:

Pretty Little Liars- WTF, did they really have Emily kiss a distraught Nate? Way to piss off your lesbian audience, show! And wait, why do they act like Wren is not in the same boat as Ezra? He is a doctor, which means he's around a decade older than these girls. First Spencer, now Hanna?! He was acting like her being with Caleb was the only reason they couldn't be together, and not that it would be statch.

Degrassi- Ugh, Drew proposed to Bianca? Whatever, as long as he doesn't mess up her college plans. Dave on the other hand dumps Alli, because he feels they've grown apart.

But I realize Imogen is supposed to be miss quirky, but putting your face in front of a confetti cannon to figure out why it didn't go off is prolly not the wisest idea. The knock down drag out fight was a little excessive though. And while the Ice Hounds can be dickish, again, I feel bad for Dallas. He can be a jerk at times, but he can also be a good guy. So its interesting he seemed actually hurt when Fiona kicked him out. I guess he did think they were kinda friends, but only he got sent away, and not Eli and Jake, who technically threw the first punches. Of course, he and the hockey team did crash the party, with the intent of stirring up shit.

And hey, at least Claire finally told Eli the truth!

WO blather

Guan Suo- Kid is fast! Interestingly enough, he has the standard DW7 nunchuk moveset, but it seems... better. Maybe its because I played Ling Tong and wasn't impressed with his coverage (other than his R1 special). But yeah, Ling Tong and Gan Ning are supposed to be two of the bad-asses of Wu, and they kinda got a raw deal- Guan Suo is the better nunchuk person, and Jia Xu, is the better Sickle and Chain user. As I said, Guan Suo has really good coverage with his EX-attack and C6, and he's fast enough that you can get to those attacks rather quick. His EX-attack is particularly devastating since he's a technique character.

Gan Ning, I feel is hampered by being a power character. I mean, power has its benefits, but he always seemed like a speed character, so it feels weird to not be able to double jump with him. Jia Xu, on the other hand, is a speed character, and with his aerial normal attack, he has the equivalent of a triple jump. So he can easily get out of messes, not that he'll be in too many of those, as his c6 has nice 360 coverage.

Dong Zhuo- He's surprisingly agile for such a corpulent dude. His moveset is phenomenal though, the only downside being that he sticks in one place as he attacks. So, he's vulnerable to archers and rifleman, but he decimates everyone around him. He traded his flail for bombs, and not only does he toss them around to attack, they get left on the ground as mines, which he can detonate with a C1 or his C6 (though that requires a grab confirmation for him to stuff a bomb down someones' mouth) His R1 special, he tosses two bombs which float around him like a shield (heh, which kinda reminds me of the Family Guy where Brian says Peter has gotten so fat he's developed his own gravitational pull and tosses some objects which start orbiting around Peter). He can actually repeat it to get a bunch of bombs floating around him, which can be pretty devastating when he runs into a crowd. Overall, he is surprisingly fun to play!

What's up with the "pre-action" interviews on those kinda videos? I figure most people fast forward through those anyways. Because that's why people watch such things, to watch someone yammer on about themselves! Okay, occasionally, I'll watch it, mostly if I end up having to actually jump ahead a bunch before anything starts, just because I'm curious what the hell they're talking about for so long. Its usually the girl talking about when her first time was, which given she's in the pr0n business, is almost never a good story.

cut for your benefit )

WO blather- So I've been re-working the weapon set ups for a few of the characters. I've been going the absorb/agility/bolt/brilliance/echo/slay/typhoon/wind route (well, actually I've been replacing echo or typhoon on most folks with prosperity for weapon farming), which is a reasonable set up, but annoying because it makes it hard to regain musou. Which sucks for people with good musous or R1 specials.

But the main use of echo and/or typhoon is for crowd control. Its important for people with sucky movesets, but not so much for the ones who have decent moves. Now, I'd been replacing osmosis with brilliance, because brilliance needs your musou meter to be full for it to work. However, for those with really good specials (ones that activate weapon attributes), they'll refill their musou meter anyways with osmosis.

So, I've been doing absorb/agl/bolt/brilliance/osmosis/prosperity/slay/wind for a number of characters who have great specials, and good enough movesets they don't need typhoon/echo (and I intend to replace propserity with one of those when I no longer need to farm), like Mitsuhide and Nuwa.

Some people build their character around the special attack though, going the frenzy route, which is fine, but its no fun using just the one move over and over. Like Susano'o, yes his special will kill everything instantly, and between osmosis getting activated during it, and equipping musou magatama, he can just do it over and over. But that's not any fun, I want variety in my attacks!

TV commentary:

Doctor Who- So the trailer for the new season is out. Unfortunately, I can't embed it because youtube doesn't offer it in the old style embed code, and LJ can't use that iframe stuff.

Anyways, again with the Daleks and Weeping Angels? The Daleks in particular, because how many times have they acted like they've been wiped out forever? And I know the Ponds are on the way out, but I swear, if they kill off Amy I'm going to be so pissed!

Degrassi- Ah, so the credits make more sense now. Jenna legitimately becomes a Christian and is hanging with Becky for real, not just to get with her brother. And Drew dropped out of school and moved in with Fiona. So I guess they're together in the credits because they're roommates. I was worried they were going to break up 1) Drew and Bianca and Fiona and Imogen and 2) turn Fiona straight.

WO blather- Some more character commentary:

Liu Bei- Looks like he has the normal twin sword moveset from DW7, but I kinda guessed that already given Cao Pi and Lu Xun's moves were different. His R1 special is similar to his son's- instead of casting regen, he gets an auto heal of a certain amount of health. Also, he instead gets a temporary attack bonus, as opposed to Liu Shan's invulnerability.

Also, apparently he and SSX have no special dialogue. cliffv('What's up with that?!') I mean, I assume he's the guy she's referring to in her convos with Kai. And Zhong Hui and Jiang Wei have no special dialogue either!

Kaguya- I had to play her in the beginning because she was one of the first characters available, but started playing other folks when I could. But, she's actually pretty good. Her R1 special is monstrous, and she actually meshes well with her type- she's a technique type, and a majority of her moves do juggle the opponent, so there's synergy there. Its annoying how many of the technique characters don't have all that good juggling capability, so its refreshing to play a character whose moves work well with their type.
geebs: (Default)
So, today's gospel was the multiplication of the fishes and loaves story. I once heard someone give forth a mundane explanation for the miracle in a sermon once. Something about all the people there actually having brought food with them for their own consumption and not saying anything lest they have to share. But when the baskets were being passed around, they were filled with grace or the Holy Spirit or what have you and rather than take food, they put a little of their own in the baskets to help feed everyone. And that's how everyone got their fill and there were so many left overs. I'm sure there's some sort of message there about God working through people's hands and the spirit of brotherhood, but frankly, I'm not too keen on that explanation. In fact, I find it somewhat heretical.

Oh, I realized my list from a few days ago was missing the hot and curvy Jennifer White, and the cute (especially in glasses) and ample Penny Pax. So I corrected the list, bumping off two of the ladies I was feeling luke warm about and had only put in because I was struggling to make the list a normal list-like number.

Speaking of Penny, she plays Batgirl in the Dark Knight XXX parody. Which as the Comics Alliance review says, is pretty friggin dark! As they say, the first scene is basically a reference to the Killing Joke. I mean, usually these parodies are tongue in cheek and light hearted, but this was kinda disturbing! And whatever, spoiler alert, but like you the reader care about spoilers for a pr0n parody, but yeah, basically Catwoman tricks Batman, and Bane beats him up and breaks his back, and then he has a threesome with her and Kathy Kane. And that's how the movie ends! WTF?! Batman loses, and the bad guys have a threesome?! Oh, and yeah, its totally random that Constantine and Zatanna are in this!

WO blather- So, still playing through the game, here's some comments on some of the characters:

Motochika- His moveset is actually better than I was remembering. I mean, it has its flaws, but its relatively solid. His R1 special is ridiculous though. Basically, he fires out a bunch of soundwaves for a surprisingly long time, which with my current weapon set up (I'm not sure if the blast +10 and echo are the reason for this) means if there's a big enough crowd, its an auto-fill of the TTA gauge!

Liu Shan- He has the same rapier moveset from DW7. But like Xiahou Ba, he has a ridiculously powerful R1 special. Basically, it makes him invulnerable AND causes him to constantly regenerate health. Which, given his ability is thrift, give him osmosis +10 and maybe the musou magatma item, and there's no reason to just not constantly have this on.

Yoshitsune- First, he gets cool points for his weapon being a light saber. His R1 special needs a grab confirmation, but basically makes the beam larger and longer for several seconds. I'm trying to figure out if all attacks have weapon element activation in that mode. In any case, he's definitely fun and cool to play.

Nezha- Another cool character to play, I love the whole hovering thing. But yeah, his C5 is rather ridiculous. Its a little like Motochika's special, in that Nezha fires out a persisting (seriously, its weird how long it lasts) cone in front of him that basically decimates everything in its path. You can't go wrong with spamming that. The only annoying thing about Nezha are that his big stars are joke weapons. Its like, can I get a powerful weapon that doesn't look like a chocolate covered donut?! This is total BS! And yeah, I can't just stick with his 4 star, because his big star at max compatibility is way more powerful than the four star at max.

Saw this floating around: "go to akinator. answer all questions truthfully about myself except for "no" to "are they real" and "yes" to "are they from a tv show", so I tried doing it for fun. Apparently it thinks I'm Richard Castle. Hey, that's as good an outcome as any.

WO blather- Finally got around to playing Aya, so now I can say I've played all the SW3 characters. Like her brother Kenshin, she's one of the "C9" folks. She sure could use Agility on her, but otherwise, I like her moveset, its very mage-y. Its very powerful, yet its range isn't as good as you would expect. She'll still blow away anyone around her, just not decimate crowds as well as she should seem able to.

Also went back to playing Ding Feng again since I wanted to grind with someone new. Apparently I had never tried his R1 special, which is crazy ridiculously powerful. Between that and his ex attacks and his grapples, he just feels way fun to play because he's good at mixing it up.
geebs: (Default)
Can't believe I went the whole weekend without commenting on the pending Tomkat divorce on here. I guess the brainwashing has weakened enough that she was able to finally formulate a means of escape? Katie's a brave woman though, trying to get sole custody of Scientology's princess, isn't she worried about them declaring a fatwa on her? I mean, look what happened to Chef! He didn't even speak out against Scientology, he just didn't chastise Matt and Trey enough for making fun of it, instead expressing just mild disapproval!

WO blather- Hmm, I'm thinking I'm going to have to spec out two different Pacific Blades for Mitsuhide. I've been using the standard "best" load- agility +10/absorb +10/bolt +10/brilliance/echo/slay +10/typhoon/wind +10. (well, technically I subbed out echo for prosperity +10 so I could use him for weapon grinding) But, his R1 is one of the best in the game, and his true musou looks totally awesome. So another one with agility +10/absorb +10/bolt +10/osmosis +10/slay +10/typhoon/verity/wind +10, which will let me do those to my hearts content?

Looks like Sima Shi was decloned from the rapier set (haven't played Liu Shan or Yuan Shao yet, so not sure which has the original and which one was decloned) I like his new c4 and c6. His ex attack is still great, but it could be better if there was any forward movement on it. As it is, its solid, because since its off his c2, the first hit hits him in the air, and given he's a technique character, he does critical damage against airborne enemies, and the ex part slashes them several times before ending in a nice area effect hit that clears out people around him. He's got good speed, enough that its easy to forget he's not actually a speed character, and thus cannot double jump.

Ranmaru is similar to Xiahou Ba in many respects. I think Ranmaru is runs faster under normal conditions, but like Xiahou Ba, his attacks are very slow because he's wielding a big-ass sword. However, like XB, his R1 is a speed boost, but unlike XB, it just boosts his attacking speed, he doesn't get the crazy running boost.

WO blather- I'm annoyed that you can't set the costumes the characters you aren't playing wear during battles like you could in DW7. So Cao Pi and Zhen Ji's special connections include Mitsunari and Lu Xun, and interestingly enough both of their 2p costumes are white and blue, matching the Wei colors. I do like the four of them as a grouping.

Some of the special relationships listed for characters do baffle me, particularly when its a crossover one. Take Mitsuhide for example, obviously Gracia is his daughter, and he and Ranmaru have some sort of thing that I'm unaware of since I never played SW1, and in SW3, they apparently made it so Motochika was whispering in Mitsuhide's ear to betray Nobunaga. But his other connections are Deng Ai and Zhong Hui. I guess I'll have to build up their bonds to figure out what it is.

I've gotten everyone to at least level 20, but given there's nothing else to spend growth points on, I'm thinking it won't actually take that long to get everyone to level 99. I mean, after level 20, its only 5000 growth points per level. And just one board during grinding already nets at least two or three level ups for characters, and the growth points earned are usually enough for at least another three. So leveling is actually going quicker than I initially expected.

TV commentary:

True Blood- Aw, I liked the scenes between Eric and Bill and their daughters, Pam and Jess. They are surprisingly very fatherly. And it never fails to amuse what a Sookie/Bill shipper Jess is, but I guess she just wants to see mommy and daddy together.

And weird, so the fae are opening secret clubs now? I wonder what their angle is, given a few seasons ago they were taking back all their progeny and were hiding from the mortal world forever. Actually, given the way Hadley was talking, maybe some of the higher ups put a scare into the rest of the fae? I mean, granted, if vampires knew of their existence, they would be in serious trouble, given how crazy Jess got last week when she just smelled on of them. But Hadley was acting like the vampires were actively hunting them down.

Oh, and heh, I guess Sookie and Alcide is finally happening? And of course both Bill and Eric would happen upon it!

Woke up early this morning, so I read the latest League of Extraordinary Gentleman book. I got a lot more of the references than the previous ones. The things I recognized- Entourage, West Wing, Doctor Who, Torchwood, 24, Burn Notice, The Thick of It, 30 Rock, Harry Potter, Mary Poppins and Heroes. I'm sure there were more hidden references, but those were the only ones I picked up on. Anyways, since it was still early, went back to sleep. Don't do that after reading such things! Or maybe do, it will lead to some interesting, action packed dreams to say the least.

WO blather- Although I still have a lot of people to play, I've been using growth points to get everyone to level 20, so when I do play them, I'll have access to their full moveset. I believe I just need to get Okuni, Takeda, Ieyasu, and Yoshimoto up to 20, but that shouldn't take too long. I plan to at least get everyone to S rank, with a maxed out four or big star weapon with satisfactory attributes. So far, that leaves them in the mid-30s level wise. The ones I've played the most are in the 60s right now. I could try to get everyone's special bonds maxed at least, but trying to max out everyone's bond with everyone else might be too insane. If I wanted to get everyone to L99, that would take forever too. A couple of thousand boards, by my calculations. And since I shockingly hadn't yet gotten the played a thousand levels trophy in DW7:XL, its no small task.

Having played all the new SW characters except Aya, I'm concentrating on the Wei (and Jin) right now. Played Zhen Ji and Cai Wenji. Can't remember if it was this way in DW7, but her EX attack here will also give her a speed buff. She's fine, but Cai's awesome. Her moveset is very safe, as she's always hitting 360 around her, so she doesn't get hit often as she's keeps crowds off her. I don't remember her being this good in DW7, but she's definitely great here.

Also played Xiahou Yuan, Xu Zhu, and Sima Yi. Looks like they were all decloned from the original bow, club, and war fan movesets. Xiahou Yuan's moves are kinda spry for someone as... bulky as him. But I do like his new charges a lot though, they're all cool looking, and his c4 and c5 are especially useful. Xu Zhu's new C4 is quite solid, he quickly just bounces and slams into the ground twice, which is really good for taking out crowds. And cool, Sima Yi basically got his old moves back, particularly his c4 and c6. I hear Zhuge Liang also got his old moves back- in DW7, the fan moveset seemed to have elements of both their old movesets, but it didn't really seem them because all their good moves were stripped away. I'm really glad they got their DW5 moves back in their repertoire.

TV commentary:

Wilfred- Hey, Jenna is hot and all, but Ryan's insane for turning down Allison Mack's character.

Suits- Donna suggesting she and Rachel get drunk and hook up? I'd be up for the show going that direction! Although, seriously, what the hell was Mike thinking when he was helping Rachel with her profile. Its like gee, yeah, that will really make her think you're not interested! Particularly when you go that deep and sweet and poignant. How did he not expect her to show up later all, "What the eff?" Ah, but we finally find out why Jessica and Harvey don't like Hardeman. spoiler cut )

WO blather- Hmm, according to my calculations, I have 78 characters yet to play:

list under the cut )

That's a lot of people! Owel, at least this game will keep me entertained for a while.

WO blather- Finally tried out Kai and Masanori. They're both pretty good. Kai has good speed and a strong moveset. Masanori is kinda like a mini-Keiji. You can just spam his c5 all day and it will serve you well.

Weird, apparently Wang Yi and Xing Cai auto-block and counter during their S-strings? So give them the Demon Mask and Gauntlets of Vitality and they're practically invincible- as long as they're attacking, they'll counter attacks from any direction, and the gauntlets will heal them for counter attacking.

TV commentary:

Royal Pains- Weird, I guess Jill really is gone if she's not longer in the opening credits. And interesting, Paige and Boris are in the opening credits. I'm particularly glad Paige is a regular now.
