Pretty Little Liars- Hmm, I have a theory. spoiler cut )

Royal Pains- Has the show always done these random celebrity cameos? Its just so weird sometimes! I mean, is that something the viewers have been clamoring for? I guess it is the Hamptons and full of rich people and having random real life celebrities chat them up make it seem more authentic, but its still jarring. spoiler cut )

Royal Pains- Okay, ha, that's what a spin class is?! Like whenever I heard people talking about "spin class", I thought it was a friggin crafts thing, like the thing from Ghost or that one amusing Alison Brie gif. I mean, they're liking spinning clay and stuff. I had no idea it was just exercise biking! spoiler cut )

Royal Pains- Wait, what in the world was the accent of the new hospital administator supposed to be. Is she Southern? She did say something about her momma's biscuits. If it is Southern there's something off about it. Like she's trying to do a bad Scarlett O'Hara impression. spoiler cut )

Necessary Roughness- Oh weird, I guess as part of the retooling, they ditch Dani's family and Riley from BtVS, but Dani's new assistant is apparently a new cast member? I guess, when in doubt, add a young blond chick.

ME blather- I think I'm 60-75% of the way through the game. I knew I would have to play the story twice or thrice, but its still frustrating when my charm isn't high enough to make some story options available. Like being unable to convince the one guy to testify about corruption, or talking guys out of killing hostages.

As I said before, I'm not gonna spend any points on charm/intimidate when I can earn those for free through spectre status and getting enough paragon/renegade points. Those are points I can spend on my abilities! And I do have my character and my squads progressions all mapped out.

Anyways. I've already done Feros and Noveria, so now I'm doing all the side things before hitting up Vimire. I am flush with money currently and have decent gear, but I could really use some weapon upgrades. I was all excited when I started getting the higher level weapons with double the upgrade slots, but I don't have anything to put in them. Well, I guess I have crappy upgrades to put in there, but it seems like I get way more armor and ammunition upgrades then weapon upgrades.

Speaking of weapons, I got assault rifle mastery, so I'm currently working on shotgun mastery. Not that there's a real point to it other than the trophy, since I don't intend to play through as a different class. And even if I did, assault rifles/shotguns are far from an ideal bonus skill. Of course, the shotgun is prolly not the best weapon to use against a bunch of charging husks. I mean, I do have sledgehammer rounds equipped, so it does knock them back, but the rapid fire seems better at handling several charging at once.

Royal Pains- Heh, I totally forgot how the season ended! spoiler cut )

Creepy obtuse commentary: Good video this week at BGB, it touches on everything I've been looking for! I mean, they've come really close previously with the Penny Pax one. That one was missing just one element that this week's Scarlett Wild one had. Heh, I was amused by the user comments though. Like I thought the comments on the Charity Bangs one, which had a similar theme, were a fluke. But its strangely odd how many people have a problem with it taking place outdoors and people keeping their sneakers on during. What in the world? I mean, like I'm not surprised by people being totally racist when its an IR video. And I can understand the complaints about last week's July 4th's weird journey into furry-ville. I mean, I can even see how people can be totally weirded out by the sneakers thing. But what the hell is wrong with it taking place in the woods?! Hey, I hate the outdoors too, but not enough to detract from enjoying the video!

TV commentary:

Royal Pains- Okay, I may have to re-evaluate my statement that Kimberly is the hotter Williams sister, as I liked Ashley's look in this one. Well, before her nose was broken. And weird, the CotW was face-blindness, just like this week's Perception.

Hey, Hank's new love interest Harper is kinda cute. But geez, could it be any more obvious that when Harper said she doesn't date doctors because they can be unreliable socially that Boris was going to page him during their first big date?

WO blather- Finally tried out Kai and Masanori. They're both pretty good. Kai has good speed and a strong moveset. Masanori is kinda like a mini-Keiji. You can just spam his c5 all day and it will serve you well.

Weird, apparently Wang Yi and Xing Cai auto-block and counter during their S-strings? So give them the Demon Mask and Gauntlets of Vitality and they're practically invincible- as long as they're attacking, they'll counter attacks from any direction, and the gauntlets will heal them for counter attacking.

TV commentary:

Royal Pains- Weird, I guess Jill really is gone if she's not longer in the opening credits. And interesting, Paige and Boris are in the opening credits. I'm particularly glad Paige is a regular now.
geebs: (Default)
WO blather- Huh, since I only started playing Cao Pi yesterday, I did not realize they changed some of the moves for the DW characters with "cloned" movesets. Like his C4 is no longer just the same as his dash attack, his C5 is a throw type move now (its still a launcher, but he stabs the opponent in the chest with both blades and does a vertical scissoring motion with the blades, sending the enemy up into the air), and his c6 is a forward rush of really quick slashes all around him, kinda like Zhou Tai's C6. I'll have to see what Liu Bei and Lu Xun's twin sword movesets are like then, if they changed things up.

I guess I didn't particularly notice if Ma Chao, Huang Gai, Ding Feng, and Sima Zhao's moves differed from the standard spear, club, glove, and sword movesets from DW7, resppectively. And I guess all the other DW characters I played so far just weren't any of the cloned moveset people. I mean, I played Xu Huang and Lu Meng, but they thankfully gave Xu Huang his Great Axe back for this game (and gave Yue Ying her scythe and made Xiahou Dun's big-ass mace from DW6 Pang De's weapon since Zhang Liao stole the twin axes from him), but yeah, Zhao Yun started using the Dragon Spear in XL, so only Ma Chao and Jiang Wei were left with the spear, and I haven't played Jiang Wei yet. I'm like 99% sure Ding Feng's moves haven't changed from DW7, so I guess they might've tweaked Meng Huo a little more? They prolly made his moveset more "animalistic". But yeah, I guess I'll have to see what the diffs between Huang Gai and Xu Zhu now, and Liu Shan and Yuan Shao, and how Sun Ce, Sun Quan, Cao Cao's moves differ from Sima Zhao.

So I'll give the game kudos for taking the time to give the DW characters a little more variety by coming up with new moves for the ones with the cloned movesets. Although technically, I think they did that for DW Next on the PS Vita, and WO just uses the moves from that.

TV commentary:

Royal Pains- Wait, are they not going to address what caused the explosion in the previous ep? I mean, they made a show of having Jill's brother adjusting the propane tanks while he was still sick, making you think that would mean something later. And then the explosion happened at the end of the ep. But this ep, they're all, "Explosion, that was weird!" and don't investigate further. I suppose maybe they'll have it come up later, after the fire marshall or whoever figures it out, then they'll come knocking.

And huh, I thought there was going to be more to Alexa Vega's sickness then it just being "shock bowels" from the force of the explosion. I mean, given her weirdness about the CT, and all the dogs, and her constantly talking about hoping her big family comes to visit and not wanting to be left alone. I suppose she might be a recurring patient, like Mrs. Newman, or the hemophiliac kid with the kinda cute hypochondriac girlfriend.

And finally, how hilarious is it that it seems like Jill had this new job offer forever, because it seemed like she spent last two seasons transitioning away from her duties as hospital administrator and ending things with Hank. And then it ends up falling through? I mean, it sucks for her as a character, but they were never going to have her actually leave the show, and like I said, its kinda funny that they wasted so many episodes on this, and it ends up not happening?

Finally saw Lemonade Mouth. I enjoyed it, it was a cute little movie. Also started watching some more of the stuff available to stream on Netflix. There were a few movies I was hoping to check out, but alas, they are not available to stream. Right now, I've been checking out the second season of Gunslinger Girl (which so far seems better plot-wise than the first season). It can be a little disturbing at times, from Henrietta's inappropriate crush on her handler, to how blase Rico and Angelica are about killing, considering their age. And heh, while the Dragunov SVD has always been a "kewl" looking rifle that people like to use in action type things, it always bugs me when they do, because its not really a good tool for such endeavors. cut for pedantry )

But I digress, I also plan to finally check out Skins (since [livejournal.com profile] xantha pointed out it was available on there), as well as Claymore. Of course, I still have those eps of Sherlock sitting on my hard drive to check out.

Plus, a few books on my plate also! I still haven't finished [livejournal.com profile] zarathrustra94's copy of the Iliad, and the Game of Thrones show (and what I've learned from the ex-roomie and researching around the net) has gotten me interested in the book series. Hunger Games is another series I want to check out after hearing the buzz about it a few months ago (before Bill Engvall's daughter/young Mystique got the lead role).

Of course, you would think summer there'd be less TV to watch, but since cable show stuff in the off-season, there's still plenty of shows. The USA stuff like White Collar and Covert Affairs. (Wait, does Psych, Burn Notice and Royal Pains also start back up?) Also, Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family, True Blood on HBO, and the new Torchwood on Starz. There's prolly some others, but that's what I can name off the top of my head.

Do people really call it "BBM"? rgv('Stop trying to make BBM happen!')

Flicking through the channels last night and "Assassins" is on AMC. Heh, I knew Antonio Banderas' character "Bain" was obviously a play on the word bane, but how did I not realize Stallone's "Rath" stood for wrath? Its like when I only realized the other night that Tori was short for Victoria.

Woah, Hermione cut all her hair off?! I guess post production must be done on Deathly Hallows one and two so she's free to do that. But I don't know what the article I linked to is saying with "What was she thinking!?" Like that one iphone 4 commercial with the chick who "wanted a bob but the stylist just kept cutting", it looks cute! I think she pulls it off. She may look a little boyish now, but as I often say about chyx with such looks, "I'd like to get me some of that, whatever that is!"

TV Commentary:

Royal Pains- Call me lame, but I actually like this Evan/Paige storyline. Moreso than Hank's little triangle with Emily and Jill. Although I think the whole "POO" was cute, and it ended up setting up the whole thing later when Hank had "POE" written on him. And since Jill and Divya knew what PoO stood for, they were kinda pissed/disgusted with him that Emily was the one who wrote PoE. Though I guess that could just be because he tried to pass if off as Evan being the one who wrote that there as a laugh and they see through his transparent attempts to hide his relationship with Emily (and also since both of them kinda hate her).

Burn Notice- They mention the Saiga-12K shotgun (basically an AK that's been chambered for 12 gauge shotgun rounds) in the ep, but I'll have to check the ep again, but when they go to the gun runner, I'm not sure what they show was an actual Saiga-12K. Also, maybe its possible, but I hadn't heard of any full-auto conversions for the Saiga. And the whole thing with the one Feeb having gotten hit in the arm, I'm guessing he had to barely get winged by it (and it was using buckshot rather than slugs), because if he actually got hit straight in the arm with a shot from a full auto shotgun, I'm not sure he'd still have an arm. Or I guess since we didn't actually see that firefight the hitman could've run out of rounds with that an actually hit the guy with the HK P30 he was packing.
