Doing purchasing a couple of weeks ago, I didn't realize how cheap flash drives were nowadays. With prices that low and them being so small, is there any reason not to carry one just in case? In this modern world, its up there with having a multi-tool, flashlight, lighter, and internet-capable phone with gps and a video-capable camera on you at all times. So I picked up an 8 gig one for myself for ~$15 (with my own money that is, and not from the places I purchase for work, because that would be kinda illegal).

Other things I bought this week. Oh, a black 2009 Nissan Versa. I know I'd been talking about getting the Ford Focus, but the Versa ended up being cheaper. And the reservations I had about the Versa, reviews said it didn't have a lot of oomph, it seemed kinda small, those weren't as bad as I thought. Its a little roomier than I expected, and driving on the highway, it performs just fine for me. Hearing the slow acceleration from 0 to 60, I was worried, but I can weave through traffic just as well as my old car. Plus, since its a new car, there's no loss in power if I'm running the AC. Now I have to come up with a new name for it.

TV commentary:

Supernatural- Okay, this week's ep was a funny MotW-kinda ep. spoiler cut )

Terminator: SCC: You know, if you get past the way the show tries to be too artsy and boring, I think there's a lot of potential there in the plots. spoiler cut )

Friday Night Lights- So the Panthers have managed to roll their way into the Semis. Billy and Mindy's wedding is also approaching. Now I know Mindy is a stripper and all, so a lot of her friends are strippers, but really, what kinda name is Fashionette?! I guess you can say its unique. spoiler cut )

Dollhouse- Wow, Dollhouse is starting to get good. (And is it me, or was the outfit Eliza Dushku wearing this ep totally HOTT! Though you can't go wrong with a schoolgirl-ish outfit and long white lace stockings) spoiler cut )

TV commentary:

Dollhouse- I think this was one of the better eps so far. Lots of interesting developments and reveals. cut for spoilers )

Terminator: SCC- I thought tonight's SCC was pretty good as well. spoiler cut )

Friday Night Lights- Lots of interesting developments on FNL. spoiler cut )

BSG- saved this for last, even though it wasn't the best (I actually enjoyed the above eps more). But hey, now that its done for, I'm halfway to being fine with the end of the world. As I said when certain people thought it was gonna be Armageddon last month, I would be pissed if the world ended before seeing how Lost and BSG turned out. Some people loved it, some like the usual suspects totally hated it. Honestly, I thought it was okay until the second half. spoiler cut )

Oh, interesting to see them break out some new weapons. I mean, the pistols they've been using were FN 5-7s and Vektor CP1s (since they both look very futuristic), and they've been using HK MP-7s as submachine guns and Beretta Storms as their assault rifles, even though the Storm is really a 9mm carbine, not a rifle caliber weapon. But this is the first time I've seen the Marines carrying really heavy stuff (unless I wasn't paying attention on New Caprica), like M-60E3 machine guns.

Wow, its been a pretty busy week at work. The thingie finally came through, so I could start doing that stuff, but since there was a backlog I've been having to play catch up. But hey, come June they're taking me off shift work. So that's cool. Although I do have a lot more on my plate. And I'll prolly have to stick with the early-ass 7 to 3 hours, since there's stuff at work that would require me to be in that early.

Forgot to comment on Thursday night TV:

Smallville- How did this show get renewed for yet another season?! I mean, how many times must they re-hash the same plots. Though I guess this time, instead of protecting Lana, he's protecting Lois?! And the whiny bitch somehow learns the wrong lesson each time, even though its always exactly the same. spoiler cut )

Oh, and that one nurse was played by the chick who played Dr. Manattan's first wife. She was kinda cute. Definitely cuter than Silk Specter. But I think part of it might be the black wig. With her normal blond hair, Malin Akerman isn't too bad.

Supernatural- Cool, since this ep featured Reapers, they brought back Tessa, played by the mad cute Lindsey Mckeon. I dunno, is it me, or did the New Class have hotter chyx than original Saved by the Bell. I mean, Tiffani Amber Thiessen was hot, but New Class had the previous chick, Gift Shop Girl, and Natalia Cig-whatever. spoiler cut )

Saw Watchmen with the usual suspects today. I enjoyed it, though it is a bit lengthy. But the soundtrack was pretty cool. And I don't think you had to have read the graphic novel to understand it, though I wanna saw some of the opening credits montage might be a little confusing if you hadn't. The fights were pretty brutal too. Like some things that didn't even take up more than a few panels in the book were a little more drawn out, but I would think they would have to spice it up for the big screen. Heh, and while Patrick Wilson wasn't as paunchy as the novel Nite Owl II, he was appropriately nerdy. spoiler cut )

TV Commentary:

Degrassi- So did the actress playing Anya hit a growth spurt or something? I don't recall her being that much taller than Holly J. But at the end, when Alli sees Holly J, and they show her with that brunette, I was wondering, "who is that giantess she's talking to?!" But it was Anya. spoiler cut )

Heh, for lunch, had a hodge-podge of things, some left over fettuccine and pesto I made last night, a couple of microwaved buffalo chicken strips, and some tortilla chips with jalapeno nacho cheese. Yeah, that's healthy!

TV commentary:

Degrassi- Okay, mebbe I don't know the exact nature of Asperger's (Heh, when I first heard of the disease, some people were mentioning how they suspected they thought a mutual acquaintance had Asperger's, I thought they were calling the person an "ass burger"), but at the heart of it, aren't they just extremely socially awkward? Like I thought it was known that Connor had Asperger's, but apparently not. When they were talking about him being tested, I thought he would end up having some other mental illness. But in the end, they acted like he was bi-polar or something. But again, I don't know about Asperger's, so mebbe it can be as serious as bi-polar disorder.

I do like the little touches this ep, with Alli all dressed down at home (I forgot her parents think she's plain miss innocent), and Jane standing up against the Shep (the "gifted kids" aren't the only ones he pissed off) Though it does seem kinda pervy of KC to be all, "I like that outfit" when Alli complained about Claire going back to the school uniform.

Dollhouse- You know, it was until we see Sierra's handler that I realized how similar this show is to the Gunslinger Girl anime. I mean, you have a "doll" paired with a normal, most likely military or police-trained handler. But instead of the dolls being little girls with sophisticated bionics that make them insane killing machines (what's with some animes being kinda ped-y?), its young women (and men!) who can be imprinted with skills that can make them insane killing machines, but other non-lethal things too. spoiler cut )

Ah, saw this SFIV anime-ish trailer, I guess focusing on Crimson Viper. Unfortunately, its in Japanese, so I have no idea what's going on. Other they had Bison taken down at the end of SFII by the combined efforts of Ken, Ryu, Chun Li, Guile, and Cammy. And that someone re-recruited Balrog, Vega, and Sagat even though Bison seems to be gone.

And cool, the Killzone 2 Scout trailer is out. That's the one class I wanted to know about.

So I heard that the aunts heard from a seer that the Eight Days of Darkness is coming this week. (I thought it was only three when I younger) I thought it was supposed to take place after the Rapture? But anyways, you know, the righteous (wait, I thought those would all disappear during the Rapture, or was that just children? But whoever would be taken away would be so to spare them the coming horrors? Mebbe its people who are really good and the innocent, and this warning is going out to those who aren't good enough, but aren't exactly evil either) need to hole up in their houses and board up their windows and not let anyone in. Because darkness will envelop the world, and demons will walk the Earth and try to take the guise of people you know to be let into your house so they can kill you.

In any case, if it is the apocalypse this week, I'll be pretty pissed. I mean, I could complain about never having a threesome with a cute Asian chick with an English or Aussie accent and a blond-haired/green-eyed snowflake cutie, but what I would really be mad about is not seeing how BSG or Lost will turn out! And I think I would've like to have seen all the Harry Potter books made into movies.

TV commentary:

Monk- I'm guessing the intention was to gross people out with the whole hot dog thing, but all it did was make me crave a hot dog right now. With chili and cheese and onions and mustard. spoiler cut )

Degrassi: Ah, so Leia is a former ballerina? I still don't buy Danny and Derek as star football jocks. I do find Riley's storyline interesting. In most of these shows, when you have a male character realizing he's gay, his closest confidant ends up being some chick who becomes his fag hag. I mean, he'll have male friends, but it'll be this whole thing where they're freaked out at first, but eventually come to terms with it. So the whole thing with Peter being his confidant is refreshing. spoilers )

Dollhouse- I think this week's Dollhouse was better than last week. And with some of the stuff that occurs, makes me wonder why this wasn't the pilot? Oh, and what's with the brief appearance of Romo Lampkin? I mean, last week's Burn Notice, this past ep of Leverage, he's hard at work! spoiler cut )

Things that suck- cuts under your fingernails. Got a few of these today prying thingies from a thing. Ooh, I was so mad, I went on a cursing tirade for a minute or so that was hopefully drowned out by all the machine noise. I literally put my blood into my work!

Okay, heh, with Eliza Dushku being the featured chick in the latest Maxim, I was looking for a clip of her dancing in the ridiculously short dress in the teaser of the Dollhouse pilot. But alas, the closest I've found is this vid, at the 0:18 mark. Actually, watching that clip again, I totally thought had changed clothes after the race and before the dance. Nope, what is a ridiculously short dress on the dance floor was a shirt on her biker outfit. spcv('Nice!') But seriously how scandalous is that?! Like they finish their bike race, and he asks her to dance, and she's all, "Sure, just let me take off these tight leather pants first!"

Oh, and I saw the new Wolverine promos last night during Family Guy/American Dad. I'll put it under a cut, just in case. spoiler cut )

Some more TV commentary:

BSG- Okay, going by last night's ep, and what I remember from BSG pre-colonial history, let me see if I have a handle of how things are. spoiler cut )

Dollhouse- Hmm, a somewhat interesting concept. A secret corporation run by Moira Mactaggard that caters to the ultra rich, providing them with whatever kinda people they want (temporarily), from companions to assassins. Of course, a lot of it seems to be, "Let's dress Echo (Eliza Dushku) in all sorts of different sexy outfits!" But cool, they also have Amy Acker as the corp's doctor, who's still mad cute despite her character's face being all scarred up. Echo's handler is General Lock. And it also has Helo as an obsessed Feeb investigating the corporation even if he's causing waves and hurting his career by messing with the wrong people and following the info wherever it takes him, even if its endangering other cases.

Onto the ep: under the cut )
