As I've said before, it always annoys me when I know all but one or two of the invisibles for the week. I think I should know 6 and 8, but nothing's springing to mind.

[livejournal.com profile] turdburgler lent me the last two issues of Basara, and I just finished reading those. As I often say whenever I read a new one, its usually so long between issues that often I don't even know who a character is. Since the main story ended a few books ago, the last few books are full of side stories about the plethora of secondary characters and fleshing them out. Like there's a story about Tamon and Masunaga, and I'm all, "Who the frak are Tamon and Masunaga?!" Like I kinda recognized them from their hairstyles, and Tamon's awful accent. Which reminds me, so is there some region of Japan that is considered to be full of country bumpkins, and that's why they give such characters Southern accents? But, its interesting to see the aftermath of the war and how people turned out. The real ending is especially interesting.

I'm almost finished reading through the entire main Exalted book. Cut for geekiness )

As much as I love Junior's sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit, they can't seem to get my order right! And I like order it every week, wtf?! Today, they were all, did you order the scrambled egg and cheese biscuit, and before that they tried to give me a bacon egg and cheese biscuit. Maybe if they had more than two people working during breakfast, they wouldn't have so many problems!

Anyways, had a belated b-day cookout. Alas, some people couldn't make it, but it was still a fun time. Good food too. Samiches, the Luther. I dunno, the roomie puts a krispy creme donut between the burger and the bun, but to me that's too bready! Its messy, but I prefer the krispy kremes as buns! And as I've said before, it sounds gross, but don't knock it until you try it. Its so good! ND brought over Jake's, and [livejournal.com profile] zarathrustra94 that uber-rich choco cake. Have a lot of left over cold cuts, so prolly gonna make a lot of samiches this week.

Had a lazy sunday, but didn't go to see Narnia. Nor did I see the Golden Compass. I think the roomie wants to finish up the book before he sees the movie.

[livejournal.com profile] turdburgler lent me the latest two ishes of Basara. Apparently there's two volumes left? The main arc is over, so I'm curious what they're spending the last two volumes on. I guess 25 had a bunch of back story on several of the secondary characters, mebbe they'll continue with that. Which is good, because there are a lot of characters, and reading these with two to three months or more in between volumes, I like forget some of the connections. I'm still baffled there's no good fan site that covers all this, because its a pretty good story with lots of interesting characters. I mean, there are wikis for thousands of TV shows and comic series, why not this one?

The annual Spike TV video game awards were on last night. I guess they had Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson on there promoting Jumper, which has a new trailer out. And Kristen Bell won an award for her role in Assassin's Creed. But having those two cuties there I guess inspired this Hollywood Tuna article article about Kristen and Rachel. Together. qv('Alright!') Similar heights, and unlike Kristen/Hayden (Claire-bare, not Anakin!), different hair colors. But that would be a good pair, up there for me with the classic Kristen Kreuk/Elisha Cuthbert pairing.

Just another Saturday at work. Wow, for the first time in weeks I don't have like a dozen machines to hook up or wiring or building to do, so unless something breaks things should be breezy.

Going up to [livejournal.com profile] zarathrustra94 and [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler for geek fun, finished up the last volume of Kare Kano and the latest Basara and went home with a bunch of shoujo. Random musings on Kare Kano, Basara, and D:TNG: (shoujo and teen dramas, [livejournal.com profile] geebs, are you really a teeny bopper girl?)

Kare Kano )

Basara )

D:TNG )

And now for something less girly. Gears of War has the assault rifles with the underbarrel chainsaws. Halo has the Brute Shot- the wicked looking bayoneted grenade launcher. Why not have a game that combines the two? Semi-auto grenade launcher with a bayonetted chain-saw? Not very practical, but its got a coolness factor about it! Particularly if the grenade launcher has a hold open device so you could load single grenades directly into the chamber instead of from a magazine. And it would be intimidating! Who's not afraid of chainsaws? So you got that for "up close" work, but for firefights you could load in buckshot or flechette rounds, and for big bada-booms, various grenade types- normal HEDP, Flashbangs, White Phosphorous, Thermobaric. Its perfect for the wild and crazy frontal assault!

Speaking of grenade launchers, )

Just finished up the stuff sis lent me. The latest ish of Basara is pretty interesting. Especially the turn of events for the Red King. I guess they're trying to transition him into a more acceptable hero. I mean, he wasn't really that much of a bad guy before, just ruthless, because that's the only way he knew how to accomplish his goals, which are pretty beneficial to his subjects. Of course, I can't see how Sarasa can get over him killing her father and brother. Then again, her mother was all into Kazan, so mebbe the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree (ha!)

This latest Kare Kano was great. All I can say about the Tsubasa/Kazuma story is wow. It was just so powerful. (Could I be more of a girl?) The fact that they had a short Rika story (who I always thought should get more play) was just icing in the cake.

Forgot to mention in my last post that I finally finished Fake the other day.

Fake thoughts )

So, returned those to Sis monday and traded them for the latest ishes of Hot Gimmick and Basara.

Gimmicks )

Now that Basara's past the anime series, its getting interesting.

With the too good to be true deal Amazon is doing on the T-mobile Sidekick, I decided to pick one up. I prolly shouldn't be throwing around money like that, but it is the kinda thing I've been waiting for. Well, a direct to brain link would be the best, but in lieu of that, this works. And I guess in theory with the rebates I get about 90% of the money I spend back. And now I can look things up whenever and annoy people with what's the what on the fly.

Owel, sis the [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler, lent me the Legend of Basara series on VHS. I'm only a quarter of the way through it, but it looks pretty cool. Although I do have some reservations about this whole thing they have going between Shuri and Sarasa. cut for spoilers ) Otherwise, the story does seem interesting, as do the characters.

Speaking of sis, her entry about her new car made me think about what kind of car I would want if I had the money. I know I always talk about how awesome the Cadillac Escalade XLT is, but if I had the money, I wouldn't really buy one. They're just so big and unwieldly. Back at Thanksgiving, [livejournal.com profile] 7500centfish were talking about how unwieldly our parents' mini-vans were. I shudder to think of how a sweet looking monstrosity like an Escalade would handle like. Now if I came into a lot of money, I'd try and get like an RS6 wagon (though I don't think the wagon version is available here in the states). Its luxurious and sporty, yet practical! and about 85k. In all seriousness, if I can get my life together and get all these student loans paid off, I would prolly get a sporty sedan, something like an A4 or Maxima. Or mebbe a Legacy wagon.

24 was actually interesting tonight, though it still hasn't been all that great this season, or last season even. Oh, and the 2nd part of Galactica just went off. spoilers )
