Forgot to mention in my last post that I finally finished Fake the other day.


I enjoyed the series as a whole, but I think they coulda spent a little more time on the final story arc. I would have like to seen more of Leo, since he sounded like an interesting character, especially in light of his final revelations. I mean, it did seem kinda weird, like Leo said, that Ryo calmed down so easily. I guess its due a lot to Dee. So the fact that he wasn't so gung-ho anymore kinda weakens things a bit when we find out that surprise revelation. And I figured they woulda done more on the Bruno side with Dee given the story the gave beforehand about his childhood and the fate of his father figure. He had a right to be as angry towards Bruno as Ryo was towards Leo, but he was hardly involved at all in the final case.


So, returned those to Sis monday and traded them for the latest ishes of Hot Gimmick and Basara.


I like the art in Hot Gimmick, and the storyline is engrossing, if not a little confusing. Maybe its cause I'm a guy. I mean, I totally understand the whole Akane/Subaru thing. After all, that's many hs geek boys fantasy, to have the mad-cute seemingly supreficial girl fall for you, hard. I get that. what I don't get is Hatsumi's relationships. I mean, she's still crushing after Asuza even after he used her and did some pretty horrible things to her. And she's starting to crush on Ryoki, who seems to care a great deal for her and is in love with her and all that, but has a totally screwed up way of trying to hook up with her. I mean, the guy is a bully and an asshole and totally domineering! It sounds like they're adding her older brother into the mix too. Though I expect we will soon find out he's not a brother by blood.


Now that Basara's past the anime series, its getting interesting.

Asagi is really an interesting charactger. He's quite cunning, playing everyone against each other. I mean, he's manipulating Sarasa and her army, manipulating things in the Red King's area, even manipulating the rest of his family. It'll be cool to see how this all turns out. Oh, and its good to see someone finally know the whole thing between Sarasa and Shuri and be able to do something about it. I mean, I suppose Shido found out, but he's dead. And I'm surprised Ageha hasn't figured it out yet either. After all, he's another weird character. I would say he is mostly on Sarasa's side. But the fact that he keeps quiet about his dealings with Asagi and Shido is a little hincky. He doesn't ever betray Sarasa to them, but its just weird. I guess he's just a very neutral character. But its still weird to have someone able to talk so amicably to both sides or all sides, since there's more than one.

I'm pretty sure Ageha knows, he just elects not to say anything about it. In fact, he knew before anyone but Nagi that Sarasa was the true child of destiny, of the two twins (remember what he said to her right before the red king poked his eye out).

I think he just says "my mistake" and stuff sarcastically, as if, "You and I both know it's true, but I'll let you continue your little farce if you wish."

Really? I knew he prolly knew Sarasa was playing Tatara, I'm just not sure he realizes she and Shuri are like in love. I would think he would say, "Dude, you fell in love with the Red King!" because he is looking out for her and it could turn out really bad the two of them not knowing who they really are. Alas, Asagi isn't going to say anything anytime soon because he's trying to be all sneaky and use the info to destroy them both. I'm thinking they will find out eventually, I'm just curious if it will be a final act sort of thing, or a they find out, fight it out for a few more chapters while they reconcile their feelings and then hook up and team up to take down Asagi and/or the other kings.

(I think I misunderstood you to mean "knowing sarasa's tatara" as opposed to knowing that sarasa & shuri are in love without knowing who each other is.)

Anyway, they'll definitely find out eventually who each other is, although most likely in the finale, as opposed to any time soon (if they didn't, the manga wouldn't be nearly as popular as it was in Japan, with a crappy-ass ending like that). Unfortunately, there's like 20 volumes to this series, so it'll be a while.

I do know, after having looked through the artbooks, that Sarasa hauls off up north to find the Genbu sword amongst a bunch of Nanman-looking types, and probably very soon after this "mother" story arc ends. That would make the most sense, at least, especially since Asagi's already prodded her to go do so.

Also, I think eventually (from looking at the artbook) that Asagi's role in this will change significantly. I won't say any more to prevent spoiling (if I'm even right at all, which I may not be).

20?! Wow, that's a lot! The way things were moving right now, I woulda guessed only 10 or 12. I mean, I figured with what Asagi's doing, things are heading towards an end game since all the big players are heading for a big fight. But apparently the story isn't even halfway through yet! I mean, Sarasa still has to get the final sword, but she already got 3 out of the 4 after 6 volumes, so the fourth shouldn't take too long story-wise. I figure she'd have it by 10 at the latest, and that's still another 10 or so books to go then! I would expect after she accomplished that goal she'd be near the end, but apparently not. That's cool though if it will take that long, and I'm really curious what happens to make the story going on that long.
