TV commentary:
Kings- How many eps are left of this anyways? Macaulay Culkin's character is definitely an interesting addition. He does a really good job of playing it ultra creepy. I mean, the zero affect, he's a total sociopath. I was kinda amused when he broke into his father's safe and tries on David's uniform. It seems like he's naturally curious, and doesn't see anything wrong with breaking into his father's safe or sneaking into the Queen's shoe closet to satisfy that curiosity. He seems like totally the kinda person who would take someone apart just to see what their insides were like. But yeah, when he saw the camera had nekkid pictures of Michelle, and had this look of "Well, that was interesting". That's your cousin, prevert!
What's scary about him is you can't tell if he just lacks empathy, or if he's being malicious. Because some of the time, it seems like he is just this man-child who never learned the diff between right and wrong. But then when Michelle told him it would kill her parents, so he gave the pictures to rich bitch because his dad off handedly mentioned he would like to kill them? Yikes! At that point, he is trying to purposely hurt people, but what's really scary is that his attitude doesn't even change, he's still cold and aloof about it.
But, ooh, the Queen picks Jack when the rich bitch gave her the ultimatum. I'm kinda curious if it is favorites or straight politicking- there's no way to "spin" Jack being a poofster, but she tells Michelle to basically whore herself out, all "Yeah, its embarrassing for everyone to see you nekkid in lewd and suggestive poses, but they'll at least see you as a woman, and you can use that to get your way!" WTF?!
And I was confused if Jack's BF actually killed himself or not. I couldn't tell if the Queen was saying he took his own life, or "he took his own life". Because just a few lines before, she was all, "Oh, he was trying to extort the crown!" But if that's the case, why the frick would he kill himself, he can't use that money if he's dead! Or was that her way of subtly trying to vilify the guy to get Jack to not come out.
But ha, I had a feeling when Jack came to Leslie Bibb, she was going to propose they get married- I don't think Jack could ever be an effective rival for David if he did come out, and as she said, that's the one thing that would devastate the queen the most. Then she'd be part of the royal line!
Heh, I'm also amused the king thought David was so great, bringing him into his confidence and showing the mistress and illegitimate son, but then when he found out about him and Michelle seeing each other secretly, he was devastated. I guess because that whole time David never mentioned it, so it was like David was lying to him?
Though what the hell is with David and the butterfly thing? Does he actually believe what he told the king, that the sign was telling him that he should help the king? That's the most retarded interpretation ever! Like, isn't that story about the butterflies a well known story? So he should know that's why the king thought he had divine backing back in the day. But it happens to him, and he thinks it means he should be there for the king?! As hottie Paramore front girl Hayley Williams would say, "No, it makes no sense at all!"
Exalted talk: Heh, been going through the various demon write ups in Malfeas and RoGD2. Its weird that even though the 3rd circle demons are so powerful, but because of the circumstances for their defeat, you can summon them with Adamant Circle Solar-level sorcery. Its interesting, because some of them do seem like the traditional summon them to have them grant something, as if they were a genie, or to get some ancient secret or lost knowledge, or to curse their enemies. But some of them are like a frickin' Final Fantasy summon. Particularly Ferrand, its like you summon him, and he charges forth in his fiery chariot, scattering everything to the wind and setting the environment aflame.
Speaking of video game-ish aspects of Exalted, the Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors games have always been cited as in the vein of Exalted with the lone hero carving through hundreds of enemies like a hot knife through butter, reaping them like wheat. But that Dynasty Warriors Strike Force game even more so, as their awakened forms are like an anima display. Oh, and I always that Kojiro from SW2 seemed very Abyssal like, what with his fascination with death and the mix of magic into his swordplay. Oh, and his undead pallor. There's this funny line were Nagamasa sees him approach and is all, "There's an undead lady in the battlefield!" HA!
But undead swordsmen are pretty cool. Even though I'm nowhere near as good with Raphael as I'd like to be, he's still one of my favorites. Interestingly enough, I read that doing his critical finisher, he'll be all, "I'll make you one of my minions!" when he feeds on them (since he's a vamp), but apparently if you do it to Amy, he'll be all "Ah, sweet nectar!" A-ha, so it is a sexual thing with him and her. That pervert.
