Oh, before watching the Hangover, I was killing time at Borders and picked up a copy of Exalted: Infernals. While the system mechanics in Exalted can be a handful, I've always liked the world and history. Out of the original exalts, I favored the Abyssals. I mean, they were like the Solars, but cooler. But now that there's stuff out on the Infernals, I think I'm leaning towards them. Like the Abyssals, the Infernals are created out of corrupted solar exaltations. And as such, are basically evil Solars, just in a different way than the Abyssals.

Now, I think I favored the Abyssals because they had the power of a solar without being a namby-pamby goody goody. But their end game has always been to bring about oblivion. They serve the Neverborn, the Primordials who were slain when the Solars usurped power, and want to drag the rest of creation down with them. So while they do get to create havoc, they will eventually have to end everything, and what fun is that? The Infernals on the other hand, serve the Yozi, who don't have such droll goals. The Yozi are those Primordials who survived the Solar uprising, surrendering and allowing themselves to be locked away. But unlike their dead (or is it undead?) brethren, they want to claim Creation back and twist it as they see fit. So since their masters are about corruption, rather than destruction, the Infernals seem like they would be way more "fun."

I haven't read too much of the book yet, but they definitely have potential.

TV Commentary:

Pushing Daisies- Its sad that after this ep, there's just one more ep. As I said, since it had been so long between ABC canceling it and showing the remaining eps, I had forgotten what a funny and clever show this is. These eps just serve to strike home how much it sucks this show was canceled. On to the ep. What's up with Chuck and Ned hiding in the trunk together? Yeah, it was a big trunk, but it always freaks me out when they're in such close proximity to each other! Even if they are covered up, there's not a lot of space, so they could easily accidentally brush against each other!

Oh, but the end, where Lila tricks Emerson like that?! rjv('Cold blooded!') I mean, yeah, he got to see she was alive, but it sucks he didn't even get to speak to her. But I guess knowing she's alive, and that his book is getting published is good enough for him. Though what does she need a book for, since she knows what he looks like. Though I guess since its possible Lila didn't even say who the guy she stole the car from was, so as far as she knows, Emerson was just some random old dude.

So are the Infernals playable character templates like the Abyssals then? They do sound way more interesting. I have never understood why someone would want everything to end, because then, what is there left? If you don't have some sort of "life" or existence, then you have nothing, say I.

Yeah, they're playable characters, they're just a different type of exalt. They work along the same lines as solars/abyssals, they're even divided along the same 5 caste lines, same xp costs, etc. I haven't read up on the charms yet, but that's the main difference between them and solars/abyssals, their charm trees aren't based off abilities. (So its not like their charms are renamed version of an abyssal or solar charms) Instead, their charms trees are based off the Yozi patron they serve. So rather than the charms being a straight enhancement of this skill or that, they have various effects that fit with the theme of the demon they follow. (They're not limited to charms of that demon though, I think their main demon patron and one other are considered "favored" in terms of xp cost, while charms of the other yozi are the equivalent of "out of caste" charms)

Well, that's the "green sun prince" type of infernal, there are actually two infernal types. The green sun princes, and "akuma" which are one of the other type of exalts (except for abyssal) who've sold their souls to one of the demon princes. So, they work just like their normal exalt type (solar, dragon-blooded, lunar, etc) but with a few extra tricks- like being able to get infernal charms in addition to their normal charms.

They definitely seem pretty interesting.
