So the new Nicki Minaj video for Starships is out:

For the most part, I've always found the song kinda catchy. Well, except when it devolves into that crazy stuff that sounds like the stuff that plays during Dance Moves videos. (What the hell is that kinda music called, anyways?) So I actually like hearing covers of it, because it doesn't have the insane stuff. Particularly because its interesting to see how these suburban youtube chyx attempt to do the beginning rap without sounding foolish: (by singing it instead of rapping it, apparently)

Also, apparently I had only been hearing the clean version of this song this whole time, because I had no idea the original line was "f*ck who you want and f*ck who you like".

First Listen Friday! Next week's songs are up Glee the Music site, except for Cry, which is on Kelly Clarkson's site.

Cry- I'll confess, I originally thought this was going to be the Rihanna song, but its the Kelly Clarkson song, as done by Rachel. I think she does a nice job on it.

Cell Block Tango- from Chicago. Mercedes does the intro, and I think it has all (or at least most) of the girls on it doing the "Pop! Six! Squish! Uh Uh! Cicero! Lipschitz!" part, but they only do half the song, with Tina, Santana, and Sugar. It sounds fun and good, though a lot of people are pissed they didn't do the entire song. But honestly, the original song is over 7 damn minutes, they couldn't do the whole song! Of course, even this version is long, and they'll prolly cut it down for the show. They'll prolly cut Tina's lines down, because that's how the show rolls. Though since they were cutting it down anyways, why not do a full version with all the girls then? Why make a shortened version, and then an even shorter version for the show. Stick with the short version for the show, and give the people who've been dying to hear the Glee girls do "Cell Block Tango" the whole shebang.

And wait, I just realized, who the hell drinks beer and chews gum at the same time?!

Shake It Out- A really gorgeous version of the Florence and the Machine song done by Mercedes, Tina, and Santana. Its so beautiful sounding. Heh, Smash is also releasing their first season soundtrack this Tuesday, which contains Katharine Mcphee's version of the song. So I guess I'm getting two versions of "Shake It Out" on itunes Monday night.

Not the Boy Next Door- From The Boy From Oz, sung by Kurt. I think he does a good job with it.

School's Out- were you expecting anyone else besides Puck singing this? He definitely rocks it.

The Rain in Spain- A punk rock version of the My Fair Lady song, with Puck being Eliza Doolittle for the purposes of the song.

Person of Interest- So we get some more back story on Reese in this one. spoiler cut )

Nikita- Ha, I'm amused the Italian Job remake was actually a plot point in this. Aw, and I still love the dynamic of the team- even though Nikita and Birkhoff constantly bicker, they really do care about each other. spoiler cut )

Fringe- Ha, so they're back to the present for this episode! I wonder if they're going to revisit the world from last week before the end of the season? spoiler cut )
