Had a fun 4 day weekend this past weekend. The poker crew was over for poker and a cookout. There were a lot of leftovers, I think I've had skirt steak for every meal since Sunday.

TV commentary:

There's too much TV on Monday nights. I know I said I'd quit Prison Break, but I was bored and curious, and will prolly still catch it until other stuff starts up. But between it, Gossip Girl, OTH, the Closer, and the Middleman, that's 6 hours of TV right there!

Oh, in Soul Calibur, scrapped Mitsu and Cervantes, and using the designs when making a custom Raph. But why scrap them? Well, decided to make some custom characters- Siltrana and Angelyn have always been my go-tos. Possibly because its fun coming up with designs for them, Sil is all about creating a cool blue form-fitting Dragon Armor design, and Angie is dark angel samurai girl, so its the black feathery wings and a cool samurai outfit. But since I gave them Cervantes and Mitsurugi's fighting styles, respectively, I didn't need two characters of the same type, so I scrapped the dudes even though there were free slots still available. I'm anal like that.

And I didn't realize how in-depth the custom characters were until I started making them. So you got the usual, hairstyles, face,skin color, eye color. But when selecting their voice, you can even adjust the pitch, and now body type is adjusted on a two axis grid of physique and musculature. So you can make a skinny puke, or you can make a big overgrown mass of muscles. Amusingly enough, breast size is tied with physique, i.e. higher physique=bigger. But yeah, that's a little too much you can adjust, if you ask me. But I'm putting down the formulas for them for future reference. Maybe I'll make a Linaria as well, and give her Siegfried's style.

So came up with a Linaria design for SC4. I think it worked out well:

Dang, I had heard the PS3 firmware update 2.5 lets you do screengrabs, which I was eggcited about so I could get pics of my designs for posterity. Alas, I thought the update from last week when I downloaded force unleashed was 2.5, but I realized that was an old update that hadn't been downloaded yet since the internet connection had been turned off ever since the GTA IV servers were down a few months ago which was interfering with the game loading up. But I had turned it back on to download the Force Unleashed demo. And it made me download the new firmware, which I thought was the latest, but I guess 2.5 is coming out eventually.

Some random comments about TV I forgot to make in my last post:

- Blair making a reference to "The Closer" was one of the weirder references I've seen on Gossip Girl. I guess its a big summer show, but still!

- Speaking of the Closer, I always find references to Provenza's crush on Brenda's mom odd. But I think this is the first time I've seen her dad realize what's up. Personally, I think Barry Corbin could kick Captain Harris' ass.

Ah Bohr, he's anything but!

Geez, does everyone on Secret Life know each other? So Amy's dad and Grace's mom used to be married, and he had also been seeing Adrian's mom. Now we find out Lauren's real dad is Ricky's psychiatrist?! Okay, that was actually a kinda hilarious twist, her calling her dad for advice and telling him about making out with Ricky and him flipping out, b/c he knows what a messed up freak Ricky is.

Some 90210 commentary (on the second half, since I haven't seen the first half yet b/c I was watching Secret Life):

- I don't know what it is about Eden from Nip/Tuck (Naomi here on 90210), sometimes she looks incredibly hot, other times not so much. I think she looks better with her hair straight rather than curly, but I've always preferred straight to curls in general.

- What's with these rich effs who think they're so frakkin cool because they ask a girl out all, "will you have dinner with me?" and then he drives her to the airport to whisk her away on his private jet because the restaurant is in some other city? Who would actually do that?

- Ha, I had heard they got Kelly and Brenda for the show, but I didn't realize that Nat dude was still around with a revamped Peach Pit!

- Speaking of Brenda, just like Charmed, she was on the show for less than half of its run, but they're acting like she and Kelly were the best of friends! Granted, I didn't really watch the show, but as far as I'm concerned, they hadn't seen each other in almost 15 years! Where was she for all the stuff that happened to Kelly post-HS?

- Lucille from Arrested Development plays the grandma as a little less wacky version of Lucille.

- What kinda moron plays the exact same high school prank his father, the principal, played way back in high school and expects him to not figure it out? Whoops, scratch that, what kinda moron principal doesn't realize some prank was his son's idea, when he did the exact same thing back when he was in high school?!

- Oh, I did catch the last few minutes of the first half, and I caught the part about that blond saying Rob Estes had knocked her up back in the day. Wait, he came looking for her back then and her mom said "she went away to Europe" and he didn't realize she was knocked up and was sent away to have the baby in secret so as to avoid scandal?! ojv('Man, its obvious!') Like a chick in my HS left after freshman year to "live with her grandma", and then she came back junior year all weird and different. Like people didn't know what was going on!? But I digress, given that the blond "gave the kid, a son, up for adoption", that's code for we'll find out some dude his daughter ends up befriending and is thinking of dating will end up being her half brother!

- And I totally forgot to mention the part of the ep that made me so mad. What's with the awful looking fake game the son and his friend were playing?! It looks like the crappy final project of someone who's taking those video game "courses" they advertise on TV at ITT tech or the University of Phoenix or whatever. They couldn't spring to get the rights to play a real game? Like the OC had Ryan and Seth playing Dynasty Warriors (even if they referred to the characters as ninjas! Its China, not Japan, you racists!). It kinda takes me out of the show when rich kids are playing ugly looking fake games. They're rich, they can afford to be playing fancy ultra-real looking video games on high def flat screens!
