Nov. 4th, 2015 10:10 amThere is way too much TV on Monday and Tuesday currently.
TV commentary:
Faking It- So the last half of the season had actually leaked online, but I was good and watched it on TV. That means I was spoiled for some things, but there were some surprises here. Like Felix being an alcoholic was a shock. I applaud the show for the misdirect. They made it seem like he was this poor, sheltered boy under the thumb of an overprotective parent. But the reason his father is hardcore overprotective was because Felix has already been to rehab at his age. So Felix getting drunk and crash the car is like his dad's worst nightmare, which is incredibly bad for the school. The principal thinks the school is out of control and recommends the school be closed down and everyone reshuffled into other schools.
Meanwhile, Amy and Lauren's parents decide to get a divorce. And aw, Amy doesn't want Lauren to leave. Farrah offers to let her stay there until she graduates, which is cool, but also kinda weird, like, hey, I'll just board my ex-husband's daughter for a couple of years. Lauren isn't biting at first, because why would she stay with the lady who cheated on her dad. Plus, with school possibly being closed down, its a moot point. However, when she talks to her old friends and realizes how bigoted they are, she goes to the board meeting and makes an impassioned speech about how accepting the school was and how it really helped her, so school saved!
On to the Karmy stuff. So Amy spent the whole night talking to Shane all, what does this kiss mean, getting all hopeful. But.. Karma doesn't remember the kiss. So Amy is sad. But then Felix tells her about his alcoholism, and remarks that in his experience drunk people do things they're too scared to do sober. So Amy is hopeful again. Unfortunately, Karma finds out from Liam that she kissed Amy. So she immediately goes to Amy and apologizes and lets forget it ever happened and just go back to the status quo where they're just best friends forever. And then Amy is crushed.
She goes running to Reagan, who unfortunately already has a new girlfriend. But Reagan is there for her and advises her that the best way to get over her broken heart is some space from Karma. Give herself time to work things out far away so she doesn't keep getting pulled back into the same patterns. And so Amy decides to become videographer for Reagan's band (sans Reagan, who's staying home with her gf).
Karma hears about it and tries to stop Amy. At first, Karma thinks Amy is trying to get back together with Reagan, but Amy talks about needing space to get over her. Karma doesn't want her to go because this will be the longest time they've ever spent apart and she's worried it will ruin their friendship. But Amy says this is the only way to save their friendship. And if its strong as they think it is, they can do one summer without each other. Karma asks if she can do anything to make her stay. And Amy is all, tell me the kiss meant something. But unfortunately she can't. Maybe its because she doesn't feel that way, but of course all the Karmy shippers are hoping beyond hope its because she doesn't know how to interpret her feelings and is scared to admit them. I'm in that category, because truthfully, I want this show to end with Karmy together.
Anyways, since she's on the road, apparently Karma and Shane are spending the summer being lifeguards, and Seetah was able to find Liam's birth father, a "C Wilder". so I'm guessing he's gonna try and find him?
Flash- its funny how the Earth-2 people are also referring to their Earth as Earth-2. Like there hasn't been an argument like that one ep of Futurama. So apparently in Earth 2, that Harrison Wells admitted he accidentally cause all the metahumans with the particle accelerator accident, but has been working to help protect the city. He invents an app that can detect Metas. Also, apparently he and Jay are at odds over who's doing a better job to protect the city. And, he has a teen daughter, who we find out has been kidnapped by Zoom. So that's prolly why he's so surly in the present.
Its cool the American previews kept the whole Dr Light being Earth-2 Linda Park a secret. That was a pleasant surprise. And I like that Malese Jow is getting to do more. Interesting though, she apparently wasn't trying to kill the Flash, but was trying to get money to flee or something? Also interesting, when she learns of her doppleganger's existence, she does try to kill her. She made it sound like she has no choice. Atom Smasher also killed his doppleganger, so maybe there's a reason they think they have to kill their Earth-1 counterparts?
But heh, Jay and Harrison stop bickering for once to help Flash defeat her- go fast enough to create after images to confuse her so she won't be able to blast him. Which would be fine if all she could do is blast from her hands. But the first time Barry tries it, she does like a 360 blast which stops him. But then he just does it again, and for some reason she doesn't counter the same way, so he's able to capture her. Also, it didn't sound like they made Flash like protective goggles to counter what she did the first time he bumped into her, which was release a bright flash that blinded him for several hours. Why didn't she try that?
But yeah, heh, the blindness comes right before his first date with Patty. Which, I can understand not wanting to cancel, because he didn't want to make her think he was blowing her off. But he could've started with the diluted pupils excuse, instead of doing the thing with the camera in the sunglasses. Like, Patty figures it out, but even beyond that, it was fine for him to have the glasses on since it was sunny when their dinner date started. But when the sun went down, he looked like a jackass still wearing the glasses indoors. Like, wasn't he worried she'd be all, what's wrong with this douche? The date goes well though, and they kiss. And conveniently his sight returns in that moment.
Other stuff, Harrison outs Cisco since his app discovered he was a meta and they needed him to use his powers to find Dr Light. And ha, they had Caitlin be all, "Just because you get powers doesn't mean you'll be evil!" Which its like their foreshadowing the whole Killer Frost thing. Interestingly enough, she doesn't flag as meta. So is it her Earth-2 self that will be Killer Frost, or will she get powers later?
Also, apparently Hawk Girl works at the coffee shop, and Cisco is interested in her. His first attempt to ask her out fails horribly. But all is not lost, since he apologizes next time and she admits she's new in town and it was too soon to be going out on dates. So they'll get to know each other instead!
iZombie- Hmm, some interesting tidbits. Uh-oh, looks like Gilda really does like Major, as she does seem pretty mad when she finds out Liv and Major are close again. Heh, Liv doesn't want to do it though, for fear of infecting him. But yeah, with the knowledge that Liv and Major get back together, she takes pleasure in her new mission of getting a sample from a coherent zombie, "accidentally" pricking Liv in the kitchen with a fondou stick while Liv is preparing dinner. But turns out Max Rager wants a sample since the zombie they make are all feral.
Speaking of experiments, the twin of the one guy gives Ravi a new batch of the drug per Blaine's orders. Which, now that he has that, he was going to reinfect the rats so he could work on curing them. But them Blaine shows up hoping to get the reinfection agent, and the guy he infected last time is also there, and thinking the syringe Ravi was using was the cure, injects himself with it, and immediately dies. So it looks like Ravi stumbled onto something that can instakill zombies. Ravi destroys it before Blaine can get his hands on it. But the knowledge that such a thing can be made is out there now.
Agents of SHIELD- Okay, that was a surprise. Heh, I knew the previews about May's husband dying was bullshit, since we don't see his body in the store. We think its because an agent Coulson had watching over him intervened, allowing him to survive and escape. But we find out later, that story is bullshit, he survived because he turned into Lash!
And May finds out at the end of the ep- she and Bobbi (since May doesn't trust Hunter now) go on a mission to find Von Strucker's son, figuring out he was the one who went after Andrew. They find him, but not quick enough to prevent him from getting stabbed by Ward's number two. While May hears the kid's story about her hubby before he dies, Bobbi gets her groove back by beating Ward's man.
Meanwhile, Coulson tries to work Price, and he discovers she had a husband who died of cancer years ago. And that is how she views the Inhumans- that they're diseased, and she's doing them a favor by catching them and putting them in isolation, like a medically induced coma to protect themselves (and others) until they can be cured.
Daisy, Mack, and Hunter only see the facility though, and as far as Daisy is concerned, the ATCU are a bunch of dicks keeping people prisoner against their will. So I'm sure there will be conflict from that. Heh, they suspect Rosalind's number 2 was Lash, and take a blood sample which exonerates him. But to get said blood sample, they tried to figure out a plan, but Hunter just puts on a mask and shoots the guy with an Icer. Which, he's all, "Don't worry, I wore a mask!" But you also used a freaking weapon SHIELD is known for! I mean, they could claim anyone could've gotten their hands on an icer, but its still suspicious.
Oh, and what the hell! Hunter asks Fitz why he's trying to save "the competition", which, what kinda of fucking monster is he? He's thinking Fitz should leave some poor innocent guy behind on some far away planet just because Jemma likes him? WTF?! Also, while it is cool he's still saving the guy, some people are all, "Oh, he's so wonderful for saving the guy despite the threat to his love life!" Which, no, that's not heroic, he should just want to save the guy because the poor bastard is stranded alone across the galaxy or wherever. Its the decent thing to do, not to score points with Jemma by doing it despite how much it "breaks his heart". If Fitz wants to save the guy because its right, that's good. But people shouldn't turn it into a whole, "Aw, he's doing this even though he might lose Jemma to the guy!"
