TV commentary:

Gracepoint- Huh, so it was different! Kinda. I mean, I had heard Ellie's husband was the killer in Broadchurch. But, they said Gracepoint would have a different killer, and maybe I missed the clues, but it didn't seem like there was hardly anything to make you suspect that Joe was a pedo, let alone even had any sort of relationship with Danny, other than being his best friend's dad. So, I figured they had a totally different plot in mind since there wasn't anything pointing to Joe at all.

But nope, he's still a pedo, the only difference is it was actually Tom who killed Danny, by accident. He had ended following his Dad to the cabin, saw everything going down, and when Danny and his dad were getting into an argument and Danny ran, Tom was swinging a boat paddle. I wasn't sure if it was to keep his dad away from Danny, it looked like that, but he ended up braining Danny instead, and the dad covered it up. So, mostly the same plot as Broadchurch, just with a different killer.

Anyways, was the point to make the audience feel like Ellie? That the reason the Joe/Danny stuff seemed out of left field was because we were supposed to be like her all, "WTF, its unimaginable, this wasn't even in the realm of possibilities!" I mean, given what I knew of Broadchurch, and Susan's talk with Ellie last ep, I figured that convo was foreshadowing. Particularly with Ellie suddenly getting onto Joe for being a lout all, "What are you doing all day?" But like I said, that stuff happened after we were 90% through the season. No way you would see it coming before all that.

Also, I heard in Broadchurch, at least Vince and Joe did look somewhat similar, so its believable that people could confuse the two. As opposed to Carver being all, well, he was wearing a hat, and maybe Susan/Ruth wanted to be seeing Vince. I also heard people talk about how Herc from FNL gave off randomly creepier vibes than Rory from Doctor Who in the same role as the priest, making it seem like something was going to come from that, when it didn't.

Interesting way to end the series though. Given the ratings, I'm guessing there won't be a Gracepoint S2. Ellie learns that it was Tom who killed Danny, and that Joe took the fall, but she's not going to say anything because its her son, and her husband is a lying pedo. Unfortunately, Emmett figures it out also from Tom's interview about the laptop, where it seems like he's looking for some prompt from his dad. So, the series ends with Emmett calling Ellie and her not knowing whether she should answer or not.

White Collar- Hmm, lots of mysteries this ep. Like what's Keller's game? Between Woodford knowing there's a mole and the initial heist plan of going in hard with guns, Peter is thinking they should just cut their losses and take them down now to not risk Neal, Keller, or the innocents around wherever the heist will take place. And heh, as an aside, its kinda hilarious that Woodford thinks Neal is above scrutiny, because he found the bug at a place he had that Neal didn't know about because that was before he met the Panthers, because he can't even conceive that there would be two moles.

But yeah, Neal convinces the Feds to keep him in, he can convince the Panthers to go for more finesse, and they can actually take them down. Interpol guy is skeptical though, and thinks Peter is crazy for the amount of trust he shows Neal. Particularly with Keller egging him on all, "You can't trust Neal, he always finds a way to get off scot free" So, Luc spies on Neal, and sees him take a mysterious meeting with some girl and handing her an envelope- we don't find out what this is about in the ep, and it even seems like Mozzie is clueless about this development. As far as he knew, Neal went straight to Peter when Mozzie showed he could hack the algorithim and thus guide the gang to a place of their choosing.

Luc shows the pic to Peter, and Peter lies its about a case, not wanting to look the fool. Since that wasn't enough to convince Peter to not trust Neal, Luc orders Keller to give the Panthers a mole. So, you think Keller is going to betray Neal, but the show made it seems so obvious that Keller was going to screw Neal over that of course he wasn't going to.

Instead, he gives up Luc to Woodford, and the latter shoots the former, taking his phone showing the tracker, and using it to suss out the mole. Keller had removed his tracker and planted it on one of the other Panthers, so when Woodford finds the patsy, he kills him. Which, its seems like there were plenty of things that could go wrong with Keller's plan. Like 1) how would he know Woodford would kill Luc and not like torture him about the mole, or that Luc wouldn't give him up, that he would just kill Luc for the tracking app. And 2) doesn't Woodford know the other Panthers logger than him or Neal? Wouldn't he be all confused and at least ask how or why instead of just executing him without getting some answers?

But like I said, I'm confused about Keller's game. It seems like he was trying to screw Neal over at first, but then he screws his handler instead? Was it some sort of mini-long game in which he purposely riled Luc up to put a wedge between him and the Feebs, in order to separate Luc from them to get him alone to get killed so he can be free? Or did he just change his mind and decide to bet on Neal instead after his efforts to get Luc to convince the Feds to turn on Neal failed?

And yeah, who's the mystery girl? What's in the envelope? What's this secret thing Neal has going which Mozzie is unaware of? Is Neal purposely keeping Mozzie from meeting the Panthers because he knows they're dangerous? Or is there some other reason? I guess we find out next week!

My one issue with Broadchurch / Gracepoint. They didn't discover who the killer was, he basically turned himself in. I mean, they eventually saw the emails and texts between Danny and Joe, but he was basically caught b/c he turned the cellphone back and purposely got caught.

Oh and in BC Tom mentions he and Danny had a falling out and he hated him b/c he had found a new friend. I don't remember that happening in GP. And BC seemed to have a more physical, if only hugging session vs GP. But other than that I didn't see any clues.

As I stated in my LJ they better not merge the Gracepoint storyline into season 2. B/c at the end of BC it wasn't left open ended. Where would the series go? But with the GP twist... Although the trailer seemed to hint they were delving into the prior case that was fraked up. But then again, wasn't that solved and they just lost the evidence to prove the case?
