TV commentary:
Degrassi- So today was the first ep with Lizzie from LWD playing transgender Adam. Although I guess that's kinda a spoiler, since they don't actually mention that she's a transgender in that ep, and you're to believe that "Adam" is actually a dude, even though "he" just looks like a girl pretending to be a guy. Which I suppose she is. But I guess for people who don't read spoilers, they prolly thought it was a tomboy at first, and then were extremely confused when they referred to her as Adam. In any case, did this ep take place in bizarro world? What's with everyone being all friendly? Alli hanging out with Jenna (I thought Alli hated her out of loyalty to Clare?), Jenna and KC on totally good terms (I guess the whole thing with his mom blew over?), even Sav and Holly J talking like friends and ignoring all that student body president election ugliness.
Quick comments on the storylines- 1) Jenna, while not a twig, is also not fat. But I guess that's the whole point of the storyline. 2) I'm not sure Sav's dad is being entirely unreasonable with the whole allowing Sav to go to the concert as a reward for all his hard work lately, than taking it back when he fesses up about the broken tail light. Sav did get the tail light fixed right quick. But his father did say if anything happened to the truck it would be his ass. Now, it was a freak accident, but his father has a point, Sav got the tail light broken just from it sitting safely in a parking lot, who knows what would happen if he actually drove it 50 miles at night to a concert in another town.
And finally, 3) I guess they're setting up Fiona to be nuts?! I mean, she is overly needy, but I also have to call shenanigans on the whole thing. She's really pretty and rich, and its not like she's acted overtly bitchy, there's just no way she would be starved for friends!
Secret Life- Wow, an ep where Amy wasn't a total frakkin krant, does this also take place in bizarro world?! I mean, that's the first time I remember she and Ashley actually getting along like sisters. But ha, Ashley finding out her parents were gonna be gone for the night and she'd be alone with Ricky and setting up a fancy dinner with possibly sexy results for him, but he ends up blowing her off because Ruben is making him try to reconnect with Adrian. rjv('Cold blooded!') Well, I guess what was really deliciously cruel was that he was totally oblivious to her overtures, and that the first thing he and Adrian do when he shows up at Adrian's doorstep (which is in full view of the Jurgens' kitchen window, where Ashley is watching) is make out. They claim there's no more spark, although after he's gone, she confesses to Ben there might be some spark.
Speaking of, Ben was kinda an little a-hole this ep, not wanting Ricky and Adrian to talk because he thinks "talk" is code for sex. Who is he to be so accusatory? Adrian's father is an even bigger a-hole. Now, I'm not too keen on the A-word, but Ruben was kinda an a-hole for trying to emotionally blackmail her into not getting one back before she decided to keep it. But now he's pressuring her to get married to Ben, because of his views on how this baby should be raised. Its like, forcing a couple of kids who don't even like each other to enter into marriage just because he doesn't want his grandkid to be born a little bastard isn't doing anyone any favors. Its not like the kid will be lacking in caretakers if Adrian and Ben don't get married. His family obviously isn't gonna turn his back on the kid, nor is the Sausage King. And Ben's dad is loaded, since they apparently have a private jet! So the kid is already in good shape, why force his parents into a loveless marriage and cause unnecessary strife?
The Closer- What kinda idiot chick thinks she was a cow in a previous life?! But wait, the stews admit they were only with Flynn and Provenza for protection from the drug dealers, though it seems like Provenza was gonna get some in the beginning. So what are they so broken up about, they would've gotten something out of it!
Anyways, this whole Brenda up for chief thing is an odd storyline. I mean, last week, she considered it because if Pope becomes chief, he'll offer her the assistant chief position, which she couldn't really refuse, and she doesn't see any viable replacements once she leaves. The one she wants is Sgt. Gabriel, but Tao, Provenza, Flynn, and Taylor all outrank him. So Fritz is all, if you become chief, you can appoint anyone you want. Which is all fine and well, but if she did make Gabriel head of the squad, wouldn't that make things awkward between everyone?! I mean, its kinda an affront to the rest of the guys that she chose someone lower ranking, and how will they feel suddenly following someone who leapfrogged over them in terms of promotions?
Also, Chief Pope has some good reasons for wanting Brenda to run, because he doesn't see her as a real threat, and it will discourage other chyx from applying. But why would Brenda that to her face?! Its obvious that she was hemming and hawing, but by discounting her like that, that's only putting her head in the game. And what a dick- he credits Major Cases successes because he was the one who hand picked Brenda to head the squad, but then he says the reason she won't be viable is because she can't even control her people, citing Provenza and Flynn's hijinks this ep. Its like, how do you take credit for her wins but not the problems her squad has?
Lie To Me- My only comment this ep, how toast is Jillian's new bf?! Its like, "Oh, btw, I'm really an undercover DEA agent!" That combined with the fact that she's really in love with him screams to me that his cover will be blown and he'll die.
