Life Unexpected- You know, I'm kinda hoping Lux dumps this Bug guy. I mean, who's called "Bug"? And what the hell did she mean by "he wasn't really gonna steal that car"?! Uh, he took the jocko guy's keys and drove off in the guy's jeep, he's already stolen it!
But yeah, I'm kinda curious if they're really gonna have it be that he really isn't so bad once you get to know him, like Lux says, or if he'll end up being a jerk who is indeed that bad, and she's just too blind to see. I mean, if I didn't know any better, I'd think he was an abusive boyfriend. Yeah, he doesn't hit her or anything, but she's always making excuses for his bad behavior, he's continually trying to cut her off from her new life all, "Its just gonna be you and me, baby!"
Lemme just get out of the cut for a moment. Man, I don't know why people who want to cut themselves off from the masses like that and live like pauper hippies who think they're so effin' cool piss me off so much. Its less the hippie part and more the thinking the rest of the world is crazy, let's just live off on our own, and screw everyone else attitude they have. I don't know why I take that so personally. Actually, I think I know what it is. In fiction, I seem to favor far-reaching empires and alliances. Like in Firefly, I think, what's with these people who want the Alliance to leave them alone, denying the benefits of such a governing body so they can live a meager existence out in the boonies?! And people attribute it to me being kinda fascist. But the problem is, I'm against things like gun control and censorship (when its done in a legislating morality sort of way, not a state security way), so its like, what do I want draconic enforcing of then? People should be free to do what they want without the government interfering, but they should be utterly loyal and accept the government in their lives? Aren't those two concepts antithetical?!
But now that I think about it, I think its more an in-group/out-group dynamic thing. Its like if a bunch of people crashed on a deserted island and were stranded, and the majority decides to live a certain way, and a couple of people were all, "eff that, we're going off on our own!" Which is fine and dandy, but now their group is competing with the bigger group for resources, and how can either group trust that the other group won't eff the other over if its in their best interest? And that's just one more problem to worry about. Or how about this analogy- It really pisses me off when people are all, "Man, this country sucks, if it gets any worse, I'm moving to X". To me, its like being on a ship that has a leak. People are struggling to fix the leak before the ship sinks, but these people who say they're gonna move are basically saying, "Screw you guys, I'm getting the hell out of here!"
And there's nothing wrong with not wanting to drown, but what about everyone else on the ship? Not everyone can leave that ship. And not everyone wants to leave that ship, because they like that ship. But its not fair of me to say, "Hey, don't you leave this ship because you're worried about drowning because the ship is still sea-worthy and I like it but every time someone leaves its less so", but at the same time, I kinda feel they're being all, "Screw this, seeya!" And I'm taking it personally, even though I doubt they're personally condemning me. But the problem is, when they start referring to themselves as an "us", and the rest of society as "them", I can't help but thinking the converse, that they're the "them" to normal society's "us".
Owel, I've babbled enough about this, back to the commentary. Anyways, given Bug's attitude, I liked Tosh being all, she understood why Lux wanted to throw the party and hang out with normal HS kids, just not to leave her behind. Because she's acknowledging that these new people in Lux's life have value, and wants Lux to have other friends, and isn't trying to hold her back. Unlike Bug who's all, "You can't trust those people, but I'll always be there for you, I'm the only one you need!" Creepy much?!
Make It or Break It- Finally, some reveals I've been waiting for are revealed! So, now Emily and Lauren now both know their parents are dating. And heh, I knew Chloe wasn't gonna fall for Lauren's "OMG, my dad's a sex addict and is prolly cheating on the person he's seeing (which I secretly know is you!)" line. Apparently Emily didn't figure out the whole dating thing last ep, and basically played mind games with Emily because she thought Emily knew already.
I sometimes feel sorry for Lauren, because she's kinda screwed up. Like there at the end, sometimes she acts like she's friends with the rest of them, as if she wasn't just basically saying she didn't want Emily and Chloe to be her new step-family because they're poor and lame, or that she still wasn't trying to get with Carter even though she told Kaylee that a guy would never get in the way of her friendship.
Its like, for people she considers her friends, she doesn't treat them very nice. Amusingly enough, Kaylee blasts her at the end, but not for the wrongs she did, but for making the team going to China when she and Emily didn't.
But heh, what the hell did Sasha mean by, "Oh, they think we're a rogue gym, they haven't seen anything yet!"? Anyways, I'm glad he finally knows about the affair Marty had with Kaylee's mother, because now he knows why the girls don't like Marty, as opposed to him thinking they're just mad he wasn't their coach. But him being all, "Why'd you tell people I punched you?" to Marty. He punched Marty in front of a whole room of witnesses, if Marty didn't tell, surely someone else would've!
And I don't know if its because Kaylee's father played the hotheaded Prado brother on Dexter, but I kept worrying that when her mom told him about the affair, he'd like go nuts and kill her! That would be kinda dark if he did!
But it looks like Payson is letting Troi do the "miracle" surgery. I kinda feel bad for Roz though. She complained about having to be "bad cop" all the time, and even after all that, everything was still on her. Payson lied that she didn't want to have the surgery because she was scared she was breaking her parents up, then she was scared because Roz always seemed to be the brave one, so if she was scared, who's Payson supposed to look to to put the brave face on about the surgery? So basically, it was all, "Get behind it, or else!" for Roz. I mean, even Troi's advice was, "You're worried she'll get crippled or worse. Well, think the opposite!" Sure, that's helpful, why didn't she just think of that.
If things do work out for Pay though, isn't it too late for her to make the Olympic team? I thought the finale last season was basically deciding who was going to be in the running for the Olympic team? It doesn't look like there's a place for her unless someone else gets dropped.
