TV Commentary:

Lost- Hmm, contemplating this ep, I noticed a couple of Supernatural parallels. When demons are cast out of peeps in Supernatural, they take the form of black smoke, and just like Smokey, they can't cross lines made of a certain powder (salt in Supernatural, Ash in Lost). And this is just speculation on people thinking Jacob has now possessed Sayid, but- Jacob plays Lucifer on Supernatural, who has been trying to get Sam to acquiesce to becoming his vessel, while the Angels have been trying to get Dean to accept his role and become the Archangel Michael's vessel. But with Esau/Bocaj/Smokey wearing Locke's form, the whole two powerful beings taking over the form of one of the show's main characters is a little similar, particularly given in both those cases one of the beings is played by Jacob.

But getting back to Lost, what the?! So at first we think the bomb was successful, as Oceanic 815 flies on without a hitch, and the island is now underwater. But then we're back on the island, and it didn't work, and the pasties are back in the now (given when they go to the temple later and the Others there shoot up that flare that the people at the foot see). They hear Juliet under the wreckage of the destroyed hatch, and dig her out, with Saywer giving Jack positively murderous looks and telling Kate he'll kill Jack if Juliet dies. Alas, she does, after having a weird convo with Sawyer that one can attribute her to being delirious from, you know, dying. People suspect that was actually pieces of a convo she was having with Sawyer in the alternate unvierse. She has something important to tell Sawyer, but dies before she can, so Sawyer has Miles do his thing and what she had to say was, "It worked!"

Anyways, even though Sayid is dying of a gut wound, the gang is busy with the white girl, so when they finally take him to the temple on ghost Jacob's instructions to Hurley, they are unable to revive him. Wait, when they took Ben to the temple to coincidentally heal him from a lethal gunshot wound, didn't they say he would lose his "innocence"? But there was no such warning to the Losties. I can't remember who took Ben there though. Wasn't it Sawyer and Kate? So wouldn't Kate be a little wary of taking Sayid there to be healed? Or is it that she was all eggcited that Juliet died because now she has no competition for Jack and Sawyer's affections. I mean, seriously, when the temple Others knocked out Sawyer and Miles and brought them back to the temple to join the rest of the gang, what's with her looking all smiley as she tends to his wounds?! Dude, his girlfriend just died a few hours ago, and you're already putting the moves on him?!

Anyways, after Asian guy learns from Hurley that Jacob is dead, they freak out and seal the temple, surrounding it with ash. Which is just as well, because Esau/Bocaj/Smokey/Locke has just killed Bram and some nameless Ajiries and knocked Richard the eff out and dragged him off, to the horror of Ilana and the Others, who just stood their impotenetly. (I think Sun and Lepidus were more confused than anything!) But interesting tidbit that Smokey drops about Richard being free of some chains. Wonder what that's about? He also makes it sound like poor Locke got screwed- he went to the real world, tried to convince the others to go back and they didn't, and then Ben strangles him, and he dies not understanding anything, that everything was all for nothing and he died a failure.

Anyways, so instead of flashbacks and flashforwards, I guess they're having flashes to this alternate universe? Its not just as if the flight had not got crashed on the island, as there are other changes- Hurley is "the luckiest man in the world", Shannon never went back with Boone (did he at least get to have some hot stepsister action?! But seriously, did Maggie Grace piss of the writers or something that they wrote her out completely?), Desmond being on the plane in the seat next to Jack. Though things are off- we can't be sure Desmond was really there, or if it was a figment of Jack's imagination. Jack recognizing Desmond can be explained, they did meet on the steps of that stadium. And Desmond could have been on the plane from the butterfly effect- with the stuff happening with the island, who knows what happened to Widimore, and therefore Penny, and if Desmond never met her, then he wouldn't have tried to sail around the world to try and win her back and end up shipwrecking on the island. But there's also the mysterious cut on Jack's neck, and Charlie being incensed that Jack saved him, though that might be just because in saving him, he found Charlie's heroin stash, and now he's under arrest.

Other major happenings in the alt-universe: Kate escapes Edward again, with Sawyer helping her out even though he saw the handcuffs she has on. After Frogurt gets pissed off for cutting in front of him in the taxi line, she gets tired of waiting and hops into the next cab she sees and tells him to drive off at gunpoint. And who happens to be in the cab? Claire. Also, Jack and Locke meet at the airport since they lost the former's father and the latter's knife suitcase. Jack tells him that he's a spinal surgeon. Interesting, might he fix Locke's back?

In any case, some interesting happenings going on. And given everyone is in the same time period now, there's no need for flashforwards and flashbacks, so this whole alt-flash is an intriguing replacement.

Make It or Break It- Ah, I'm appreciative of the verbal smackdown Payson gave that stoner loser. I'm really glad they didn't have her go down that path and sink to those kinda lows before she got back up. And hey, she's befriending that chipper blond glasses chick. Which is cool, because she's mad cute. Though is that Heather girl just being friendly, or are they going the lesbo route? I mean, she says she got them both Valentine roses so they wouldn't seem pathetic, but I've seen enough of these shows to smell a hidden agenda.

But what the, so Lauren is trying to get Nicky and Kaylee together in the hopes that it will allow her to get with Carter? Jeez, she's desperate for this guy! But heh, he gets stuck in the closet while Lauren's dad and Emily's mom get it on. I cannot wait for the two of them to find out about their parents! That'll be hilarious!
