But why would those be separate theories? Wouldn't a serial crusher have to be a huge friggin guy? I had dinner at the Waffle House today, and ordered a bacon double quarter cheese plate. Which they somehow translated into double the amount of bacon and a double order of hashbrowns rather than an extra patty. But hey, I did get something extra at least.
TV commentary:
True Blood- Okay, this ep was totally hilarious. I love the dynamic between Jessica and Bill. As I've said before, Jessica is my favorite kinda nascent vampire- the slutty nymphet wanting to cause all sorts of mischief. (And how hilarious was that when Bill embarrassingly pointed out that she looked like a "lady of the night", and she was all "Awesome!") But yeah, between the recycling and the trying to find the right formula of TruBlood that she could stomach and thinking her improper, he's such a dork, and he's trying to reign in this repressed goody goody girl turned wild child. And ha, I find it hilarious that Sookie assumed Bill slept with Jessica when he turned her. Which I think is fair, because why wouldn't you frak a hottie nymphet as you turn her?! It just makes cents. Otherwise, you're doing it wrong. (But ha on Jessica being all "EWWW! Old!" about the implication!) Oh, but speaking of mixing feeding and sex, I guess it would have to be messy, but I guess it never hit me how messy it would be (I mean, they're making out whilst their mouths are full of blood! Plus, the one being fed on is bleeding) until actually seeing it.
And wait, is that group Jason is joining a mix of fundie Christianity and Scientology? The whole workshop seems all mysterious. And looks like the corpse found at the end of last season wasn't Lafayette. But, apparently he's being kept chained to the wheel of pain at the basement of Eric's club. Speaking of, did Eric bite the cock off of that one redneck!? I mean, he lifted the guy over his head, and it looked like he just tore into his crotch area! But how hilarious was it that Eric was in the middle of getting his highlights done during all this, with the foil and the bib? HA!!
Criminal Intent- You know, I think that one chick's husband deserved what he got! I mean, he was jealous that his wife fell in love with the chick she was supposed to seduce, so he killed her?! Is he retarded?! The whole plan was all about getting a multi-million dollar contract for A PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANY! At least his wife was smart enough to know there would be blow back. I mean, they're friggin mercenaries who lost out on millions of dollars, of course they're gonna want revenge. (But heh, when they referred to them as amateurs, I though of Walter's rant from the Big Lebowski) That one assassin was kinda retarded though. Why wouldn't he shoot the store owner first? I mean, I doubt he holds human life in high regard. At the very least, he should've kept an eye on him, its not far from the realm of possibility that the clerk would have a gun to defend himself!
Exalted notes: Now that I've read more of the charm trees, I want to clarify and/or readjust some of my statements from my previous post. It could be read that the upper level Infernal charms aren't as powerful as the upper level Solar/Abyssal charms. Which isn't necessarily true. Thinking about it now, I guess since Solar/Abyssal Charm Trees are based off of skills, there's a lot more of them- 25 skills vs 5 yozi. (Though supplements may add the charms of other Yozi as they start to see the the usefulness of GSPs and start contributing their power to the Reclamation clause) So its really more a variety thing- I think the Solars/Abyssals get a bigger bag of tricks, though its not like the Infernal charms aren't good enough to handle the situations they'll run into. The GSPs stuff works, they just aren't able to change it up as much. Of course, while variety is the spice of life, if something works, it works, there's nothing wrong with doing same old same old if it does the trick.
But yeah, when I made the first post, I did so after only reading Malfeas' charms. The ex-Primordial king is all about brute force, and over kill, so his charms are pretty straight forawrd. However, the other Yozi show how esoteric the Infernal charms can get. A lot of their charms have sorcery and shaping effects. Which does give the Infernals more unique abilities compared to the dice/success adder type charms of the Solar/Abyssals. However, since they are sorcery and shaping effects, defenses against such things do apply. That includes countermagic. But, since they aren't actually spells, there's no danger of essence backlash or the other negative effects of stopping a spell before completes. All that happens is it doesn't take effect. But having sorcery type effects at charm activation speeds? They are pretty powerful.
On to the specifics. I haven't gotten to the Ebon Dragon yet, and only started looking at Adjoran. Though her charms are quite cool, since she's the Silent Wind, there's a lot of speed enhancing charms, and dashing GSPs using such charms can be quite monstrous in combat. But let's start with Malfeas. While his favored are his Slayers, which are the Dawn/Dusk equivalents, they don't get as many fancy tricks like their Solar/Abyssal counterparts. But, what they do get is quite effective. As I mentioned in the previous post, their combat tricks are based around the "green sun nimbus flare". Its a potent attack enhancer, whereupon an attack does damage, the hit then takes a few more dices worth of extra unsoakable damage. And remember, exalts have the ping damage thing going on, rolling a minimum of their essence rating on attacks that hit and aren't totally soaked. They're most likely going to do a level of damage, so with this, they're definitely gonna start outpacing other exalts on damage output against exalts of equal defense.
Even more potent are Malfeas' defenses. I saw on the boards someone suggesting a Defiler (the twilight/daybreak equivalent) with a Malfeas bent being a incredible tank. I mean, being Defilers, they get that whole subtract their essence from damage dealt to them. And interestingly enough, when Daybreaks were missing the paragraph saying the damage minusing becoming automagic (no extra mote cost) at the 11+ anima display, people thought that meant the Twilight having such a trick was an error, and the abyssal book was trying to retcon that. But the paragraph is back in the Defiler description. So, 2 books for, 1 against, going with the majority once they start displaying, they're well nigh impossible to damage physically.
But combined with the Malfean protection charms?! Yikes! His defenses are incredibly potent- he has an ox body equivalent, but while one can only buy up to their stamina or resistance (which ever is lower) its a straight extra 4 health boxes each (3 -2s and a -4). And the fact that they're minus twos and fours is no big, because they have charms that ignore wound penalties anyways. But they also have charms that keep them up until they're totally filled with bashing, lethal AND aggravated, not going down until they're health boxes are filled thrice, effectively tripling their health! They also have charms to increase their natural soak and hardness, plus an armor spell that at higher levels can actually work with armor. So with super heavy plate, you're looking at an armor rating in the high 20s, and even if you manage to somehow damage them, they have a ridiculous amount of health to eat through!
Cecelyne is interesting, while she does have attack/defense charms, the majority of her charms focus on survival (even trapped in the middle of the most inhospitable wastes, the GSP or Akuma will most likely be fine) and wish granting, those she "smiles" upon becoming loyal followers. So, a GSP favoring her could become like Paul Atriedes in Dune- forging a haven in the middle of an inhospitable area to provide protection from the champions of heaven (even being able to build a demense on such locales), then fostering an army of zealots within to strike back at their enemies.
She Who Lives In Her Name is weird- she gets a lot of analysis charms, as well as a while slew of telekinesis tricks. But getting to Infernal perfect defenses, just like the Solars/Abyssals have flaws in that there are situations where they can't activate such defenses, so to the Infernals. Malfeas's imperfection is that such charms only work in developed areas (as he is the Demon City). However, even the most primitive village counts as a "developed area". Cecelyne, being all about might over right, has the imperfection of being unable to use such defense against beings are at least two essence higher than them. SWLIHN seems to have the best imperfection of any of the Infernals, Solars, or Abyssals- there's no situation she can't activate the defense in. But, against attacks the Infernal has never seen, it costs an extra 5 motes. Ida know, while the other perfect defenses are gonna end up being applicable more often than not, having 100% coverage at a higher essence cost seems like a fair tradeoff. Adjoran, as long as the Infernal is running (their charms let them dash without defense penalties, no matter what the terrain) the defense applies. But they have to have moved at least their minimum move distance (usually their dex in yards, but with their dashing tricks, such moves are reflexive anyways). So it can be countered by cornering them so they can't run. As for the Ebon Dragon, his defense can't be used against holy attacks. Which I think is a huge disadvantage, because being evil, they prolly will run into a lot of holy guys trying to attack them. But from what I hear, the Ebon Dragon charms are chock full of disguise and stealth charms, so their best defense is prolly to not be in a position to be attacked.
