Played another game of the BSG board game with the usual suspects this weekend. The humans have yet to win. And, dang I finally "lost" once in the game because its the first time I didn't end up being a cylon or a sympathizer. I dunno, it just seems really difficult for the humans to win, its too easy for the cylons to frak things up.
TV commentary:
Kings- Okay, I find it a little ridiculous that the cutie princess didn't realize she would be taken hostage. Its like she goes in there by herself, and the best she can offer them is amnesty?! Its like, gee I wonder if they think the king will change his mind if they have his daughter. Clod!
Some of the machinations so far have me a little confused. In the end, he's all, "Oh, it was just a big trap to root out insurrectionists", commenting the whole acting all aloof was a big ruse, and his daughter getting held hostage was a little monkeywrench. Was it, or did he just spin it that way? Because Thomasina and the other guy (was that the scribe?) seemed pretty convinced the King was for real in arrogantly thinking the whole demonstration was no big deal. And she's close enough to know about his secret mistress, it would be weird if she was unaware of the plan. Unless that's because it was a military/security thing and its Wes Studi who's his confidant in those matters.
For a minute there, I thought they were gonna draw out who warned the King's brother in law, and have people wonder about it for a few eps. But nope, its Wes Studi. So he says he did that because the king was getting weak. Interesting, I guess he gave that warning right after Silas allowed David to go in there and talk to try and save his brother? And did Reverend Samuels decide not to go to the meeting because the smoke pointed the opposite direction of the flag?
And I can't tell if Jack has joined the rebellion or not. He said he was in after he didn't go ahead with the media blackout (and wait, he did totally lie to his father's face when he said he didn't know Michelle was in there, right?) and Silas made that deal with Leslie Bibb's character to have her take over that news company. But then when his dad was all, you can be the real power between her ministry position, he seemed like he was legitimately surprised thankful for the position. Although that should be interesting. Because even though Leslie Bibb was all, "Oh, I just want the title, you can have someone else do the actual duties", her excitement when she visited the ministry chambers after hours seemed like it wasn't just a title for her. Or mebbe I'm just misreading the actors. Maybe it was that she was just happy to be sitting at the table?
But I guess the dividing lines are being drawn. It looks like Silas is facing trouble from all sides. So William, Wes Studi and possibly Jack are gonna try and push for Jack to be the new king. And Reverend Samuels hasn't seen the portents yet, but I assume once he finds out David is the new chosen one, that's who he'll support. Although it seems like David is loyal to the king and wouldn't try to become king. I'm curious though who the chyx would support. Michelle would obviously be torn between her dad and David. I mean, they're obviously setting up something between her and David. The Queen seems like the scheming type. But one of the threats is her brother and son, and again, I think if Michelle would end up supporting David. Would she hitch her cart to the obvious winner, or would she scheme and try to keep Silas in power. I mean, I assume she can have a place in whatever administration ends up in power, so she's sitting pretty.
Oh, and I wanna make a guess that Abbadon's daughter is actually Thomasina. Maybe she's a halvsie, so Abbadon could be her father. It just seems like they're throwing too much on Michelle if she ends up not being Silas' real daughter. And it obviously couldn't be the Queen. It seems like they want to make it a twist and have it be someone we've seen rather than some random, but Thomasina's the only chick we've seen regularly besides the Queen and the Princess. Though I guess they did just throw in those backstory tidbits of her having some sister in a hospital or institution, and the one guard liking her.
