This is like Out of Sight, only super-gay
Jan. 10th, 2009 02:17 pmThe usual suspects were over last night, and we ended up playing Arkham Horror. FOR 6+ HOURS! Owel, at least we won. I would've have been pretty vexed if we went through all that and ended up losing. But it was fun. Anywho, people worshiping the ancient ones/elder gods. cliffV('What's up with that?!') How herertical!
TV commentary:
Stargate: Atlantis It think some fans were prolly annoyed at the series finale of SGA, but given how abrupt the cancellation announcement was, I don't think there was much they could've done to come up with a better end to the show. Yeah, it felt more like just another ep rather than a finale ep, but that's prolly b/c they didn't have time to work up to a satisfying end, so they had to come up with something quick. I mean, the entire last ep was just one big deus ex machina to set up the plot of this ep. I mean, the previous ep was all, "Oh, btw, here's a strange alternate reality where a Wraith crashed to Earth, and Shephard never joined SGC and instead became a Vegas cop. And the Wraith sent the coordinates to Earth to other realities, including the main reality of SGA!" I figured that was the end game, that the Wraith would use this to attack Earth, but then I started thinking, even if they had the coordinates, how would they even reach it?
But they took care of that with Deus Ex Machine #2, with Todd being all, "Oh, BTW, I had a bunch of ZPMs all this time I never told you about. And we were working on adapting the ZPMs to work with Hive technology." That way not only could they get around the Wraith getting to Earth and being a big threat, but the ship had "extra special super-sensitive sensors" so it could pick up the signal, which was apparently "really low" that only those sensors could pick it up, that way it wouldn't be like every reality's Earth would be threatened by the Wraith. I do find it silly that the Wraith didn't wipe the Daedalus out just because it got the signal. Surely, it could take a few seconds to finish it off. I don't believe the whole the ship wasn't finished yet thing. Its not like there was a rush to destroy Earth that they could take out the Daedalus before they left. But that would've ended the show real quick. But what's with the foreign (well, non-US) ships getting taken out? I mean, I assume the Apollo and Daedalus are American ships, but the Sun Tzu is Chinese, just like the Korolev was Russian. I mean, given the Chinese and Russians are big members of the IO, I assume each country would start getting their own ships to make sure no one country has an advantage over the other. Even if the fleet was separate from Earth, the fact that the Daedalus, Odyssey, and Apollo are crewed by a mostly American crew would make me think the other countries would take offense and would at least want either a more international crew on the ships or have equal numbers of ships for each country.
Oh, and I have to call BS on the whole Atlantis being cloaked thing. Are they trying to say they're hiding Atlantis because the Stargate/existence of aliens is still being hidden. Like no one noticed a giant space battle (including a giant exploding ship) in the sky, or a bunch of fighters making a kamikaze run towards Area 51?!
Ah, and I think I remember that the actor who played Hammond died relatively recently, so they added a little tribute there for him. And what's with the whole techie chick (I assume that's who that was, she did impress Ronon in that one ep where Todd captured them with her karate skills) showing up to see Ronon in the end? I guess since Mckay and Keller ended up together, they wanted to throw poor Ronon a bone?

Psych- Okay, last night's return of Psych was hilarious. Lots of really great lines and gags in this one. My favs:
- "Thesealion? Is that french?"
- Gus's nightmares after seeing "Dead Calm" and telling Shawn to "take one for the team!" And then telling the two guys they had hepatitis? HA!!
- Shawn's plan B. Never before have I seen such a plan enacted to escape a jam. And it somehow worked! Then again, I guess that guy also fell for the whole hair analyst thing.
Owel, even though the plot was pretty obvious from near the beginning (that those guys on the boat killed Shabby while trying to search for the plane wreckage of the diamond smugglers), it was still an enjoyable ep. Though how the hell could they not tell the boat was being loaded onto a trailer? I would think you could tell the diff between a boat casting off and a boat being moved to a trailer and being driven off!
Heh, I guess the end of the ep was good for people who ship Shawn/Juliet, but annoying for those who don't like that part of the show.
Oh, and I just heard, Dexter and Deb got married on New Year's!? So you have a married couple playing step-siblings on a show now? That's disturbingly hilarious!

Date: 2009-01-10 11:45 pm (UTC)I wasn't a big fan of SG-1 oddly enough.. just SGA.
But, at the moment.. I'm dying to see BSG!!

Date: 2009-01-11 01:44 am (UTC)But yeah, just one more week until BSG! I haven't watched the new webisodes yet though. The first set weren't all that interesting, but while I don't think they're vital to the plot, I'll prolly check them out before the seaosn premiere.

Date: 2009-01-11 01:52 am (UTC)I dunno if I'll watch the webisodes either -- I started watching it, but watching the preview for Underworld 3 every time I wanna see an episode is irritating. :P
I'll wait for the DVD! ;P
