Since its Election Tuesday, I'll take a break from my usual fare and post something politics related.
Sorry, if you were expecting to hear if I voted and who I voted for if I did, you won't find that here. I'll leave it to the reader to decide whether I voted or not, and who I voted for if I did.

Given how blissfully ignorant and apathetic I come off, I wouldn't fault people for just assuming I didn't even bother voting. If someone had to put me in a box though, I bet I come off as more conservative than liberal. Although I think I do have some views that would scandalize or offend the conservatives I know. Truthfully, I'm not all that passionate about my political beliefs. I think the only issues I've ever felt strongly about were gay marriage (which I'm pro) and gun control (which I'm anti-gun control).

Me being pro-gun should be fairly obvious. Honestly, I don't believe gun control laws accomplish what people want them to do. It just doesn't have the impact on preventing crime people think it does. If criminals didn't have access to guns, they'll still find a way to hurt people. I think what anti-gun people want could only be truly accomplished if you "un-invent" the gun. But you can't, they exist. And I don't think restricting access to law abiding citizens will really choke the access of guns to criminals nor will it decrease violent crime. Things like Columbine and VT, yeah, if those nuts didn't have guns, they prolly couldn't have killed as many people as they did. But again, where there's a will, there's a way. And those massacres should be on those nutcases, not on guns. They're things, tools, nothing more.

As for the other issue, it shocks me when people are all, "you're cool with homosexuality?" Why wouldn't I be? As I've always said, the heart loves who the heart loves, and I don't think its deviant if those people are of the same sex/gender. I just can't believe that love between any two people could be classified as sick or wrong. But you're thinking, "Aren't you a catholic, and aren't they against homosexuality?" Now, I wanna say I'm a devout Catholic. But given some of my views (being okay with the gays, not thinking there's anything wrong with premarital sex, or sex other than plain old mish, or the use of protection and birth control, though I do think once the egg is fertilized, its a person, so I do believe abortion is killing a life), I'm sure other devout Catholics might disagree.

But I digress, I went from gay marriage to religion. And I say the one shouldn't have anything to do with the other anyways when it comes to this issue. If two guys or two girls want to get together, I think they should be afforded the same rights as any other married couple, at least in the eyes of SECULAR law. I just don't think they should be denied those rights just because they're of the same sex/gender.

Now, onto my usual fare, TV commentary:

On 90210, I think the only plot I cared about in tonight's ep was the Navid/Adrianna one. Well, the whole thing with the one lacrosse guy seeing teach taking Kimberly home from a party and trying to blackmail him was hilarious. And teacher guy is all in a huff that its not fair he's being forced to take a PAID leave until Kim can finish her investigation. Even if she is really a twenty five year old cop and not jailbait, she's still technically a student! So a relationship would be totally inappropriate. And why isn't the principal pissed that she was seeing him anyways, its just as unprofessional for her to be seeing teach when she's supposed to be doing an investigation!?

Anyways, aw, I thought it was sad that Adrianna had to eff Navid because he paid for her rehab and was being all nice to her. Of course, I find it retarded that Navid is all offended she thought he thought that way. Even if he's nice, he's also a guy! And a teenage one at that. Its not that far fetched for her to think he wants sex. And his dad is a porn king! Get off your high horse! Oh, and while I would still rank Adrianna after Silver in the girl rankings (Silver, Adrianna, Annie, Naomi) she does lose points for actually liking popcorn flavored jelly beans! Then again, she is a druggie freak!

So on Privileged a few issues have finally come to a head. Charlie and Megan finally talk. So Charlie's cute new gf whom he temporarily dumped is all, "Are you in love with her, or are you just in love with the idea of her?" We don't find out, because while he does rekindle his friendship with Megan at the end, he claims he was pushing her away was because he was embarassed that she's this Yale graduate who got a fancy job in NY then a fancy job in Palm Beach getting to hob-knob with all these important fancy rich people.

Rose and Sage also finally clear the air about what they want. They both want something different- Sage wants to be a famous socialite, Rose wants to get into Duke and they come to terms that means they might not be together forever. But they seem to accept that, so they'll make the most of the time they have together until it comes time to graduate. Although they make the agreement not to take any jobs that interfere with any big school things, but the way those publicists can be though, will they stick to their guns when push comes to shove?

But ooh, Megan, in her research for her book (ha, I totally knew when Laurel found out about it, she wouldn't be mad, but she would start trying to interfere and make Megan write it the way she wants it), finds out that Laurel's husband is not the father of Rose and Sage's mother! Megan lets on that she knows, and of course she doesn't want anything from Laurel to keep hush hush. But Laurel is all, "You hold all the cards!" in a tone that indicates Megan better watch her back.

Oh, and what's with all the "get out and vote" things on the show? Sage wearing the rock the vote shirt, Megan casually mentioning she took her father to the polling place. But, by the time people watch this ep, isn't it too late for them to vote?

I really can't understand why the whole world isn't libertarian. Get the government's nose out of everybody's personal business.

Why shouldn't people marry ALGAE if they want to? Gay marriage, group marriage, whatever the hell..is it hurting anybody? No? Then go away.

Why should it be anybody's business but mine what I own, as long as I haven't harmed anyone and I acquired it without harming anyone? (You know, no mugging, burglary, etc.) If it's not causing anyone harm, where does the gov't get off sticking their nose in?

Sigh.
