When I was in Best Buy the other day, saw the Devil May Cry anime and thought, what the hell, I liked the game series why not check it out. Its a fun little show, but if you're looking to see Dante, Trish, Lady and the game world in general more fleshed out, you'll be a little disappointed. In any case, its a good looking anime with cool action. Though it was odd to see an ep where Lady and Trish were trying out clothes in a fancy boutique, as neither chick seemed like they're into that sort of thing from what you saw of them in the games.
Slowly getting through more of Tramps Like Us. As I said, a very, odd, almost disturbing situation they have set up, but I'm finding the relationship between Sumire and Momo quite endearing.
Monday night TV commentary:
The Middleman- I enjoyed this. I definitely liked the dialog (hey, I liked Gilmore Girls, so this Gilmoreian speed banter is fine with me). Heh, I think my favorite line was when Dub-Dub (which I find a more amusing nickname for Ms. Wendy Watson than "Dubby") was all, "But you said the l-word that one time!" Being emotionally closed off as I am, I'm always amused when people call it that "l-word". (I mean, I can say I love guns, or cars, or hamburgers, or strippers. But saying the "l-word" to another person?! Weird!)
I also loved all the pop culture references, if only because I can think I'm so great when I get them. There were more than a couple references that were "blink (wait, what's the hearing equivalent of blink?) and you'll miss them" sort of things. But I find it hilarious that there's this one secondary character whose only purpose seems to be to sit there and shout random pop culture references. It can be a little strange and silly at times (closer to Pushing Daisies strange than Doctor Who silly, I think), but overall, I thought it was a pretty cool show.
Again, watching these House eps out of order makes me feel sadder that they killed of CTB, because she was pretty cool. And kinda cute. And again, I wonder if there was foreshadowing of things to come (not CTB's death neccesarily, but general things that happened later) going on. Like last night's ep, House sticks the knife in the socket because that one guy who did the same thing earlier said he did so because when he was dead for about a minute after getting into a car accident, he saw something that was "better than any drug he ever tried". Now I'm not sure if House was trying to prove Kirby (I don't remember the patient's name, but he's been a bunch of stuff, so I'll use his name on Fraiser) wrong when he gave up and just wanted to die and hopefully get to a better place in the afterlife, or if House secretly wanted himself to be proven wrong and see such a place did indeed exist. But in this ep, he sees nothing, while in the season finale, he's in some sort of bus to the afterlife seeming place with CTB. Now it could be a dream, and I don't know if there were eps between last night's and the finale that made him think there might be an afterlife after all, but he seems pretty accepting of its existence in the last ep of the season.
But I was confused on a couple of things in that ep. Like did Kirby purposely not take the pills because he was tired of it all, or because the guys started doing testing after 13 handed him the pills he forgot all about taking them? And is the implication that House's diagnosis and the girls team's diagnosis was right all along, but since they thought he took his pills but didn't, it screwed up their later diagnoses? And why did he end up firing the rest of the girls team except for 13, given she was the one who screwed up by not making sure he took the pills? Well, made a mistake, since as Cuddy said, had House not turned this into a game, 13 wouldn't have made such a mistake. And seriously, what the hell is with the unprofessional way Cuddy dresses?! Could she show any more cleavage? Though I'm not sure if her ridiculous low cut blouses or Fred's ridiculously short skirts in s5 of Angel were more workplace inappropriate.
But ha, House calling the one twin "Fat twin"? That's cold, but at the same time hilarious. That's a totally evil way to really mess with someone's head.

Who introduced you to LiveJournal? Why did you first open an account or get involved?
That would be of course,
phatjoe, a little more than 8 years ago. Holy crap, I have 8 years worth of entries on LJ? That's kinda freaky for some reason. Speaking of eight years passing, I was watching Wheel of Fortune last night, and they had a clip from 2000 when Pat Sajak's kids were doing a lame skit. I missed that it was an old clip, because I had seen him have his daughter on before, so I was all, he has 2 other kids? But nope, that was his daughter and son eight years ago. They showed a clip of them now as well. Now, I thought his daughter was easily 15 or 16. So I was thinking, woah, its crazy how much you can change from a kid to a teenager. Though for her the change seemed to be significant, so I looked her up, and was shocked to learn she was born in 1995, making her only 13. Yikes, I really suck at telling ages!
Vampires or Werewolves?
Back in the day, I would've said werewolf. I mean, several feet and a few hundred pounds of thick fur and wicked claws and teeth and incredible regenerative abilities? You'd become a nigh-unstoppable killing machine. But I dunno if its their portrayal in various forms of fiction lately, WoD/NWoD in particular, but now it seems to me they have all this power wasted on them. They're portrayed either as dumb savages (which would be fine if they knew their place), nature-loving hippie freaks or worse, eco-terrorists, or even worse than that, social anarchists. And you know how much I despise eco-terrorists as well as anarchy. You can't have "no order"! The majority of people are morons. They need rules to protect them from themselves and the wisdom and guidance of smart leaders who know better than they do!
I used to think vampires were these faggy, brooding losers, who spent all their time lamenting their fate. What's there to lament? You've become a god amongst men, staying young and strong forever! If you play it smart, you can grab the world by the throat and get whatever you want! Sure it would suck if you couldn't go out into the sunlight or be able to eat normal food even if you didn't get any sustenance out of it (though not all vampires have such caveats). While you may not be as physically powerful as a werewolf, you're still way better than a mere human. And you're basically immortal, unless someone purposely tries to kill you. So all in all, I think becoming a vampire would be way more fun than being a werewolf.
What's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you?
I'm drawing a blank on this, and I think its because I'm a paranoid freak. Heh, now I think I'm a nice guy, and I try to be helpful and courteous most of the time. But if its on the other side, and some stranger is being nice to me for no apparent reason, I'm suspicious. Like why are they being so nice? What's their agenda? Is it a trick? I mean, some things are just common courtesy, but if its something going beyond that, like someone just out of the blue gives me something for free, that would totally weird me out and make me question their motives.

Date: 2008-06-17 03:48 pm (UTC)I found that the supporting cast makes the series. But I like all of the main cast too, which is a nice bonus. The jokes really crack me up.
BTW, did you see the latest ep of Venture Brothers? They totally made fun of G.I. Joe (not that no one ever does this, but)! And provided a big of backstory on some of the side characters. :o

Date: 2008-06-17 05:11 pm (UTC)I need to re-see the ep where Monarch goes on a date with Jollyrancher82 and Hank and Dean go on a double date with Triana and her hot friend Kim whom people thought was a supervillain. In that ep, various characters go over scenarios on how Phantom Limb lost his limbs, but apparently when the Monarch told his version he was the one who actually got the facts right according to this past episode.

Date: 2008-06-18 12:41 am (UTC)The middleman wasn't bad, but it was basically word for word from the comic... I'll save judgement for when they do something new.
