Thursday night TV commentary:

Scrubs- That was the last episode?! It was kinda a silly/cheery ep, but then the last line made it a downer. And it seemed out of order with the rest of the season! I guess it was the last ep filmed before the strike, and since NBC is wanting to be rid of it, they had no choice but to have this as the season finale. So its supposed to be coming back next season on ABC? But apparently most people don't know this? Owel, hopefully next season they can end it the way they want it to.

Pretty dark and depressing episode of the Office last night. I know, you're thinking, dark and depressing? Well, mostly concerning Jim and Pam. Jim was pulling out all the stops to score a big client because of Ryan the douche putting him on probation for not being "productive" enough. Obviously, he somewhat cares about having a job now. He's thinking of a future with Pam, and now that he and Pam are together, he seems less keen to leave Dunder Mifflin and her. I mean, its frickin Scranton. What other job can he get around there, with his qualifications, he'd prolly end up having to move somewhere else, and what would that mean for him and Pam?

And the irony is, Pam has had it up to here with Michael's crap, and being a receptionist, so I'm sure she'd be fine with moving away from Scranton and pursuing a career in art/graphic design. But the tag, how sad was it when she realized she was way behind in what she needed to know to go into graphic design, having no experience with the programs the guy said were "the basics"?

In the end Jim gets the big client, and you think, good for him! But then Michael, depressed at Dunder-Mifflin's poor showing at the job fair, tells the camera how Jim's little victory brightened up his day, because if someone like Jim, who can "do anything", decided to work there at Dunder-Mifflin, then the place is pretty good. I thought that was a brilliant line. Michael thinks that's a complement, but as we've seen over the years, Jim's not working to his full potential.

Actually, if this were the last season, I would think they were setting it up for Jim and Pam to leave. Though I guess these issues could lead to trouble with their relationship.

This week's ep of Lost was Locke one, and a flashback ep to boot. But let's start with the freighter. Lepidus brings Keamy and his men back to the freighter. And the doctor is still alive!! Keamy, pissed the Ben knew all about him, first thinks the Captain has something to do with Ben getting that info, but the Captain tells him that Michael is a traitor. I think Sayid looked a little guilty about outing Michael at that point, because while he doesn't like Michael too much right now, Keamy is a big, scary frakker who's most definitely not a good guy.

Michael's supposed invincibilty comes into play again when Keamy tries to shoot him several times, but his gun jams. During all this, one of Keamy's men gets Faraday's morse from a couple of weeks ago all, "why is the doctor dead?" So there's some weird time freakiness going on. Anyways, the captain knows which way the wind is blowing, particularly since Keamy said they're moving to the secondary protocol, which involves strapping some weird electronic device to his upper left arm. Anyways, he tells Sayid and Desmond there's a place they can hole up in the ship to hide, because Keamy is likely to kill them. But Sayid asks for the Zodiac instead to get back to the island and warn his friends.

The captain gives them the boat, and the proper heading to go to. Sayid sets off, but Desmond decides to stay- he has no desire to ever go back to the island. Anyways, Keamy and his men are loaded and ready for bear, m16s or m4 carbines (I couldn't tell which exactly from the angle), m-72 law rockets, the works. The guy who got the doctor-dead message is all, "That was a weird message, eh?" to the doctor. But the doctor's death occurs soon afterwards- Lepidus refuses to ferry Keamy and his men on their slaughter and burn mission. Since Keamy can't kill Lepidus since he's the pilot, he slits the doc's throat and tosses him overboard. The captain tries to intervene, holding a gun on Keamy, but it only takes a second of him taking his eyes off Keamy for the big guy to quickly draw a gun and shoot him dead.

Lepidus seems to have no choice, but he secretly slips his sat phone into a bag, and tosses it over the beach as he flies overhead (and the chopper has gotten there before Sayid). Unfortunately, Jack interprets this as, "We should go towards the signal!" Hopefully, Sayid will get to them soon and let them know that Lepidus prolly gave them the phone so they would know when Keamy and his men are coming to kill them.

Now onto Locke. We see his birth- apparently his mom was knocked up as a teen when going out with his dad (who was supposedly way older than her). When running away from her mom to see real Sawyer (why can't I remember his actual name?) she gets hit by a car, forcing Locke to be born prematurely. And creepy Richard shows up at the hospital to watch him. After Locke's grandmum gives him up for adoption (teen girls can't be running around with babies back then!), Richard shows up at Locke's life again. This time, he claims to Locke's adoptive mother to be from a special school that might be for someone like Locke. But Locke fails the test- Richard shows Locke a bunch of different items- a comic, a knife, a compass, a book of laws, a vial of some sort of ash or dirt or powder, and tells him to pick the item which belongs to him. He picks the knife, which was apparently wrong, so Richard leaves angrily telling the adoptive mother that he's not ready yet.

Flash forward to Locke in high school being shoved in a locker. One of his teachers tells him he's been accepted to a special science camp in Portland. Locke is all, geekiness is why he gets shoved into lockers, he wants to be mr. popular coolguy. But his teacher tells him he'll never be that guy, and to play to his strengths. Wrong thing to tell Locke, as you know how much he hates people telling him what he can or can't do. (link NSFW!) And certain people will tell you science camp is incredibly geeky, but its actually awesome! What do they know about geekiness anyways, they manage baseball teams... IN THE FUTURE!!

The next flashback is to soon after Locke's dad defenestrated him and broke his back. He's wheeled by an orderly, who happens to be Mr. Abbadon! And its Abbadon who gives him the idea to go on walkabout to find his destiny. Mysterious!

In the present, Locke sees Horace in a dream, who tells him to find him. So, they head to the mass Dharma grave, where Locke finds a map to the cabin. Heh, there's this cool exchange where Locke tells Hurley to head back, but Hurley insists on sticking with them. Locke's all, okay, fine. But once he's out of earshot, Ben congratulates Locke on his shrewdness at now making Hurley think its his idea to stay. I guess the manipulative little shrimp can recognize when people are playing the mind games he's always playing.

When they get to the cabin, Locke talks to... Christian! And who else is there? Claire!! WTF?! First, let me say my Emilie De Ravin crush re-surfaced when she was sitting on the couch acting all cool, when her appearance is very ominous. There's just something about her when she's all smiles but there's an aura of menace about her. Its what attracted to me to her on season 1 of Roswell. I think I've mentioned the scene before, its the first or second ep after she first shows up. I can't remember who was at the door, maybe Liz, but Nasedo as Tess' dad is inviting whomever in for a nice, friendly dinner, and Tess (Claire) is standing there in the background with this impish grin on her face seemingly all innocent, but Liz or whoever knows there's something creepy and dangerous about her. I dunno, she just seemed so HOTT to me at the time. So if Claire shows back up to the survivors her usual goody goody self, but secretly evil or mysterious, I would be so hot for her again.

Anyways, with her hanging with her pops in the cabin, does that mean she's dead? [livejournal.com profile] phatjoe mentioned he had heard people theorizing she was already dead, and the evidence he cited them citing was quite compelling. I mean, she did get blowed up in her house and somehow survived it. So perhaps she actually got killed there and they've been interacting with her ghosts, or whatever it is that appears as dead people. That would explain why Miles was so interested in her as well, perhaps he could sense something wasn't right with her.

In any case, in the end, Locke comes out of the cabin, telling Ben and Hurley that he was told to "move the island".
