When I first heard they were doing a Knight Rider remake movie, I thought it was something coming out in theaters. But its only a made for TV movie coming out this February. So the new KITT is one of those Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KRs? And KITT's new voice is GOB from Arrested Development? HA!
Tried to eat dinner at Frontera last night, and though it didn't say it on their sign, they had the frickin' mariachi band again. Who actually likes them coming around like that? Sure, you may think it amusing once, but it gets kinda annoying real quick if its a restaurant you got to regularly. I mean, its so frickin' loud so it makes it hard to talk with the people you're eating, even if they're across the room! The mariachis, not the people you're trying to talk to. I'm fine with them shooting up Latina American thugs and drug dealers by the hundreds, I just don't need to hear their actual music! Ended up going to Uncle Vito's instead.
phatjoe mentioned that hot dog place in the same complex, which I was unaware of, but the roomie had mentioned to me like countless times apparently.
Wednesday night TV commentary:
Case of the week was about insurance adjusters who were dying, all of whom denied a heart transplant to a grumpy kid. I was trying to figure out why his mom looked familiar, but it was Herman's GF from Herman's Head! Turns out it was a Make a Wish foundation chick, who went a little crazy since she couldn't cheer up the dying kid, and when he off handedly said he wished those insurance adjusters would die, she followed through on it.
I guess I'm still not sure how organ donation works, but how long can the person be dead and the organs still good? There are times on TV where it seems to me like the heart or whatever organ they want to give shouldn't be good, but apparently its fine to transplant.
Anyways, Chuck takes off (hiding out at Olive's) because of the whole finding out Ned killed her dad thing. I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but it annoys me that he doesn't focus on the fact that when he did that, he didn't know about the whole 1 minute rule yet. Its not like it was with her, where he knew someone else would die, but he was all eff it, he wanted her back. He saved his mom, not knowing it would kill anyone a minute later. And her wanting to see if Ned would revive her dad so they could talk for a minute. Hasn't he been decomposing for 20 years now? I know she wants to see him again, but does she really want to see him like that?
Owel, I'm wondering if Pee Wee will return because it seemed like they were building up to something with him noticing she and Digby smell weird, but nothing really came of it. Are we gonna find out he already finished whatever tests he wanted to do on the hair, and the whole giving her the hair back and claiming she seemed like she wanted to tell, so he was gonna let her tell the secret instead was just a ruse to see her confirm what he already suspects from the tests?
And as for Aunt Lily being Chuck's mom, I knew it!! I can't remember what episode it was, but she and Vivian were talking suspiciously about Chuck's mom, that made me suspect Lily was her mom. And she is!
Whoops, forgot to mention I started reading "Invincible", which
clevemire lent to me. Heh, when I heard the name before, I was thinking of that movie. No, not the Mark Wahlberg becomes a Phillie Eagle one, the one about the jewish strongman in pre WWII Germany, neither movie I have seen. Anyways, Invincible is definitely a cool read. I do like the random, albiet weird pop culture references. I mean, the story arcs are named after sitcoms- "Head of the Class", "Family Matters", "Growing Pains". The first few ishes had strange Family Matters references- a dorky Urkel looking kid named "Steve White" (Urkel's first name and the last name of the actor who played him) and the high school is Reginald Vel Johnson high school (who of course played Carl Winslow, or John Mclane's cop helper in Die Hard), and I think the principal even looked like him and was named Mr. Winslow.
Anyways, its a funny, clever series. Its almost AD like where they'll start a joke in one issue, and you don't see the punchline until a few ishes later. But like many comics of late, they have a Justice League analogue. What's with all the Justice League analogues anyways? The Authority, there's a similar group in that one series that portrays superheroes as a-holes and bullies and the protagonists of the story are a morally ambiguous bunch who go after them to put them in their place (the name of the series escapes me). Even the Wanted comic series has characters who are obvious references to the Justice League. BTW, the concept of the Wanted comic actually sounds cool (wiki it some time), but the new movie with Angelina Jolie and who the devil is that the kids like nowadays, oh yeah, Morgan Freeman, is almost nothing like it. They turn it into some weird gun fu movie and it looks like they drop out the main concept of the book!!
But I digress, back to Justice League analogues. I always thought Marvel was more popular than DC, but it seems the Justice League is more iconic that the Marvel superheroes. I mean, everyone knows Spiderman and the Hulk, and many prolly heard of Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, the X-men, and Iron Man. But do most people know the roster of the Avengers (or realize its not about British spies in bowler hats and cat suits)? Hell, even before the movies could non comic book geeks even name the members of the Fantastic Four or the X-Men (other than Wolverine)? But I bet a lot of people could name the Justice League.
