Just another Sunday, but its not my fun day, nor my I don't have to run day.
On Rome, all of a sudden Vorenus is frickin' Tony Soprano? I mean, the whole Aventine thing made him a mobster, but now its like Vorena the elder (seriously, who names his two daughters the same name, its very weird!) is trying to channel Meadow or something. I wonder if Vorenus and Pullo joking about who's man defeated whom means they'll eventually be fighting each other when Augustus and Mark Antony resume their fighting. (and ha, Eirine being all you love Vorenus more than me, they're just trying to bait the TWoP forums)
I'm still not sure how I feel about the new Octavian though. He still seems a little too boyish. And Agrippa continues to be mad corny. Seriously, I thought Atia and Octavia were about to laugh hysterically at what a big lame-o he was. I mean, being all, "If you talk to Octavia that way again, I shall be very angry!" Yeah, you sure showed her, Dudley Doofus.
But the end has Augustus and Mark Antony have united against the Brutus/Cassius threat. And the previews from next week make it seem like there might actually be a battle sequence! I'd like to see Augustus and Mark Antony kick Brutus and Cassius' asses, if only to prove the formers' bad-assedness. I guess its me thinking Augusuts is supposed to be hot shit in a champagne glass, but its been disappointing that they haven't been portraying him as a stragetic and political genius. It doesn't help that the actor doesn't have the amount of charisma required of such a great leader.
Q: What do you call 2000 Sagittarons floating out in the vacuum of space?
A: A good start!
Q; How many Sagittarons does it takes to change a light bulb?
A: Zero. If its the gods will, it will start working again on its own!
I keed, I keed, some of my best friends are Sagittaron! Seriously, tho, a filler ep of BSG tonight. It was okay, but everyone all of a sudden being anti-Sagittarons was a little hokey. I mean, there was some reference to the Sagittarons not being well liked when they first introduced Tom Zarek, who's a Sagittaron. But all of a sudden everyone's a racist and being all "frakkin' Sagittarons!" when hanging out with their buddies at the bar and being all "I'll take the word of a Caprican over a Sagittaron!" It just seemed a little heavy handed and false to all of a sudden make everyone like that.
Also, making them weirdos who don't believe in medicine doesn't seem to gel with people like Dee and Zarek. I thought it was the Geminese who were the religious freaks? I guess Dee's an "uncle Tom", but Zarek doesn't seem like a religious zealot or at the very least someone who doesn't believe in medicine. Seriously, cliffV('What's up with that?!') How do you not believe in medicine?! But if such beliefs are such a strong part of Sagittaron society, I can't see how Zarek would be the big leader of some Sagittaron terrorist group and not believe in that sort of thing.
Heh, ever since I read the actress who plays Racetrack plays it as if she has a huge secret crush on Helo, it seems like any scene with those two has some underlying sexual tension to me. Like when she's with the other pilots joking about Helo finding some cubicle she could use to frak some new boy toy she has her eye on, to me its like, "Ah, she's trying to be all, 'Hey, I got prospects too!' hoping to evoke at least a tiny bit of jealousy in him." I seriously can't watch any scene with Racetrack, Helo, and Athena and not at least think once, "Poor Maggie, she's in love with Helo, but he's married to Athena. The toaster frakker! (I can't help it, I love saying toaster frakker!) And she's pathetically playing third wheel by becoming Athena's ECO."
Oh, and that viper and raptor mobile over Hera's crib? That's pretty cool! Though those are all very angular, it doesn't seem like it would actually be very safe.
