Back at work after Labor day weekend. Friday night had dinner at Sushinobo. I like their sushi selection, but I realize sitting at the sushi bar means you have to make awkward conversation with the sushi chef. Well, you don't have to, but its kinda rude to not respond when they try to shoot the bull with you.

Saturday morning, did my usual lunch at Hankook, and seriously, its so weird that these past few weeks its been so crowded! I mean, I know it gets crowded around noon-2pm, which is why I usually head there when it opens. But it gets packed real quick even that early now! I guess its cool they're getting all that business I suppose.

Saturday night, had dinner with M and [livejournal.com profile] clevemire at Longhorn. The latter was wondering if I was going to freak out because he forgot to plug in the charger for his car overnight so the battery was low. But I was uncharacteristically confident it would be fine judging by how much it took to get to M's. And we did get back with like 15% or more to spare! Anyways, didn't get my usual white cheddar and bacon wrapped filet, instead opting for an 18oz Outlaw as I was feeling pretty hungry.

Sunday, was going to bring some Dough in the Box to K's for his cookout, but when I swung by after church, they were almost cleaned out! They didn't even have enough donuts to give me a full dozen! Who are these people buying up donuts when I need them!!? Anyways, picked up some donuts at Dunkin Donuts to raise the count. I was thinking of passing by the Krispy Kreme (how cool is it that there's both a Dunkin Donuts and a Krispy Kreme down the road?) but they didn't have their sign lit for hot glazed, so why bother.

ND picked up some pizza from Big Pie on his way as well, so as usual, there was too much food. Not that that's a bad thing. Did some Tribune, since it was a 5 player game we could play before C-note got there. But heh, as I predicted, I figured he would show up right when we started, and he did. The game went relatively fast though, having to only get 3 victory conditions does that. And cool, I think that's the first time I was ever in contention to win in that game. Still lost to [livejournal.com profile] phatjoe though.

After, played that Aztec (or is it Mayan) game with the rotating gears, which C-note won. Then did Firefly with the Pirates and Bounty Hunters and the new Blue Sun expansion. The others didn't want to play with Pirates and Bounty Hunters at first, but I insisted. Ended up being a long game (particularly since we drew the "recession" storyline where all the contacts only have a number of jobs equal to the number of players and the game ends when 4 piles are empty, and the winner is the one with the most money), which the others insisted was because of Pirates and Bounty Hunters, which I still say is BS!

From a purely mechanical standpoint, one could just ignore all the bounties, as they were not tied to the win conditions. Like I understand what they were saying that bounties were a good way to make quick money without having to worry about depleting the job pool. But again, it was only a factor because they made it a factor. They assumed other people would hunt bounties, so they too were on the look out for bounties. Even then, its not like a lot of bounties were being actively hunted. If everyone was going through the stacks on the look out for bounties and were busy trying to deliver them, I'd believe the Bounties were a factor in making the game longer.

But, I wasn't actively looking for bounties (though I prolly should've turned in the Specialist when I got him instead of trying to use him on a job since I just ended up getting him killed), K and ND pretty much ignored them as well. So at the very least, bounty hunting didn't make us in particular take longer overall. I was trying to do normal jobs and failing miserably until I just said screw it and taking jobs that don't require misbehaving. Its like, I ain't scared of no reavers, because I had no additional crew to get killed!

Theoretically, if I actively bounty hunted, I myself would've made the game take longer, but I didn't, so at the very least I don't feel my actions were responsible for the long game. I did notice the vector pistol does make a good pairing for Jubal. I mean, he can already hold 2 gear, but the vector doesn't count towards that. So showdowns he's already looking at +5 combat. And it can still be used in Kosherized rules. So its just gravy on top of the other two pieces of gear he can normally carry.

Lost Girl- Interesting, what's up with the Doc? And that's all I really have to say about that.

Faking It- What the hell, not cool! spoiler cut )
