Heh, the last two penny arcades were AC3 related. The first one is true, that horse friggin appears out of nowhere. I'm not sure the second one is entirely accurate. Yeah, they won't bum rush you all at once, but you will have guys try to stab you in the back while you're attacking their friends. Or grab you so someone else can hit you. Or as I said earlier, if there's enough distance, you'll have half a dozen guys trying to shoot you down in one big volley.

Oh heh, in these patrols, there's often a dude with a drum. I don't think he does anything but runaway and get more guards, but its kinda hilarious that he just has a drum. I mean, that's what military groups had back then, guys with drums and flags which I assume where for some sort of signalling, but its like, if I'm going to be in the middle of a battle, I'd rather have a frickin' weapon. At least you could hit someone with a flag staff. What the eff are you gonna do with a drum?

I swear this game was hugely influenced by the Patriot, because in their frontier, there's plenty of opportunity to ambush these squads, or even more profitable, convoys. And its very reminiscent of when Mel Gibson went to rescue Heath Ledger. Of course, what's good for the goose is good for the gander- your own convoys can be attacked, and if you don't have any assassins to protect it, you'll need to quick travel to the closest point in the frontier nearest to it yourself and kill the attackers, or you'll lose it. Which sucks, because your convoys can be quite lucrative, depending on what you loaded up with.

Which speaking of, hunting seems pretty profitable, depending on who you sell the stuff to. Heh, like slaughtering a random patrol (not a convoy!) and looting the bodies, I'm prolly only getting like $100. I could easily make 10x more than that killing a bunch of beavers I happen upon and selling their pelts. (Is it disturbing that I'm trying to figure out what's more profitable, killing a bunch of people or some random animal I come across?) But yeah, hunting is a fun addition to the game. I mean, most of the pelts I go where from wandering and seeing some interesting new animal around and killing it. You can actually do things like set snares and use bait (either on the snares, but they only catch small game or near a hiding spot, wherein you quickly ambush and kill the animal as its taking the bait).

Having wandered the wilderness more, animals are less scary, you just have to keep your cool. Don't panic, and just hit the buttons when they tell you to when wolves pounce on you. Haven't fought a bear yet, so wolves are the most dangerous thing I've encountered so far, like I said because they attack you in packs. The cougars don't seem so bad, but that may be because I randomly came across them trying to get to vantage points and managed to get the drop on them. The elk will try to gore you, but the gore doesn't hurt as much as a wolf ravaging. Bears might be dangerous because I think I heard there's more buttons to press- for wolves and elks, it was just two button presses, which equated to a dodge and a killing blow.

I also got to do sailing for the first time- you get a legit vessel with a full complement of cannons and crew. Its weird, because your ship guy is all, "we need to get cannons and officers to man them" in your first boat mission. Back in the olden days, did you have to be an officer to man a cannon?

Overall, its a bigger map, and there does seem to be a lot of side stuff to do, so I feel I'm getting my money's worth.

Weird, between Cleveland Show and American Dad, it was a very musical MacFarlane night.

Anyways, Glee returns this Thursday, and the songs from this ep and the rest of the Glease soundtrack have been released. I already posted links to "Greased Lightning" and "Born to Hand Jive" but here's the rest:

From Grease-
"Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee, sung by Kitty

"There are Worse Things I Could Do", sung by Santana, Ms July, and Kitty.

"You're the One That I Want", by Ryder, Marley, Rachel, and Finn.

"Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee (Reprise)", by Marley.

The Rest-
"Everybody Talks", the Neon Trees song, as sung by Jake and Marley.

"Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", the Pink song, sung by Unique and Marley.

"Juke Box Hero". by Foreigner, sung by Finn and Ryder.

They all stay pretty true to the originals. And its the first we're hearing of Kitty, I guess.

TV commentary:

Once Upon a Time- Yikes, the green screen was especially bad in this ep. But some interesting reveals. spoiler cut )

Dexter- Well, that was ill-advised. spoiler cut )

Misfits- Wait, does Curtis have a power anymore? I wasn't sure if he had Seth them away. But heh, the thing with the blind girl was kinda weird. Like I thought it was going to be a three's company-esque misunderstanding. But apparently she actually was racist!
