TV commentary:

Castle- Funny ep. Obviously they got in several Firefly refs since it took place at a Sci-Fi convention. But Molly Quinn in her Amazon costume? spcv('Nice!') Its too bad we didn't get to see "K-Becks" in her Lt. Chloe outfit without the Creaver mask.

Gossip Girl- There was at least one good thing in this ep. spoiler cut )

HIMYM- Are you effin' kidding me with this show, didn't they bring up this same friggin subject last season?! spoiler cut )

More AC3 blather: Since I read its possible to miss a homestead mission, which in turn might cause you to miss other homestead missions, which would limit the levels of you artisans until the end of the game and they're available again (which in turn keeps you from getting some of the better gear), I've been making sure to do all the ones available in a sequence over anything else. I also need to destroy those forts on the frontier, to lower the chances my convoys will be attacked. (Heh, those percentages were right, I had roughly 30-35% chance the convoys I sent out would be attacked, and indeed 1 out of 3 did)

I'd like some more money, and am sitting on a bunch of animal pelts that will fetch me a pretty penny if I send them out on a convoy, but like I said, its too risky right now at 30% chance of being attacked. And there's not enough fast travel points in the frontier for me to consistently get to them in time to defend them. Of course, the one time I didn't get there fast enough was because I had to figure out what to do because the game doesn't effin' explain it at all. Its like I'm wandering around, and see a warning that my convoy is being attacked. And by the time I figured out where it was and what I needed to do to get to it, it got destroyed as I rushed over there to protect it.

Honestly, I'm at a point in the game where there is so much non-storyline stuff to do that I don't know where to start. Like I also unlocked naval missions- the ship to ship combat seems fun so far, so I'd like to try some more.

AC3 blather- Its embarrassing that I've died more in this game falling out of trees than in actual combat. I've definitely gotten the hang of the combat system. So, today I took out the two forts I've found in the frontier (I'm annoyed that it doesn't seem to have lowered my convoy percentages). I think there's a way to do it all sneaky and smooth. But after getting spotted a few times and dispatching those guards, and being under a time constraint since people were coming over, I said eff it and just charged in and slaughtered everyone.

I mean, I've only really run into trouble if I'm facing an officer or a highlander along with other people, because they can counter your regular counters (I think special counters will work). So I need to devote all my attention to them. But all that means is I have to run around and get the regulars bunched up near me and far enough away from the officers/highlanders that they can't attack me. That way I can take out the losers so I can focus on the actual threats without worry about the losers trying to stab me in the back and disrupting my attack. Also, if I just have one highlander to worry about, then I can just run away far enough so I can draw my gun and shoot them dead.

But yeah, I finally got rope darts, so I've been gotten to hang a couple of enemies now. Speaking of, I mentioned special counters. Basically, in addition to your hidden blade and main weapons, you also have "tools", like your bow, pistol, rope darts, snares, trip mines, poison darts etc. So when you do your counter, you can either throw, do a counter with your normal weapon, or do a special counter with whatever tool you have equipped. Like if you have a bow in your tool shot, when you special counter, you will knock them back a little, just far enough to quickly draw your bow and shoot them point blank in the face. Rope darts you'll do things like swing the rope at their legs and trip them up or a Scorpion-style "get over here" move. I'm not sure if you can counter with a pistol- I tried doing it today but it didn't seem to work.

Oh, and finally did face a bear- I guess the reason they're dangerous is because you have to do multiple of those timed button presses to kill it. Six, compared to the two of the other animals.
