Heh, I had this weird zombie apocalypse dream last night. Well, it wasn't really an apocalypse, there were actually big pockets of survivors, living in settlements (obviously inspired by the latest Walking Dead). Anyways, what was funny was me and some guy were being sent out into the wild to fix the controls for some generator or other piece of equipment. And I was not nervous about running into zombies, but that I'd have to crawl through a vent that had bugs in it. Like we get to the abandoned shed where the entrance to the controls are. And I was less worried that there would be a zombie inside and more that there might be like a giant wasp nest or something.

TV commentary:

Fringe- Well, that was ill-advised, Peter. I mean, obviously he's grieving in his own way and not thinking straight, but still! spoiler cut )

Degrassi- Ah, I was right about Mo being diabetic. Anyways, what is Cam's deal? He tells Maya that he does find her very pretty, but when she says why doesn't he ever put the moves on her, he's all "I'll try harder!" Obviously she's pissed at this answer, and honestly, its a kinda weird thing for a straight teenage boy to say. But I don't think he's gay. I mean, Degrassi has friggin everything, is he going to end up being asexual?

TV commentary:

Nikita- Hmm, given the twist, the beginning of the ep doesn't make sense. spoiler cut )

Clone Wars- I was amused by the comment about how the Jedi order worrying about finding less and less Younglings. Well duh, given the order's stupid celibacy thing and dedicating their lives to the order. I mean, it seems force sensitivity is definitely genetic. So if you're friggin' finding kids who have powers, and then bring them into the order, and not allow them to have children, you're basically ending all the genetic material, because they're not passing it on to anyone!

Assassin's Creed 3 commentary:- So Connor and his dad (whom you actually play first) have some new tricks up their sleeve. For one, there's two kinds of assassinations. You can perform normal assassinations simply by sneaking up on someone and hitting the attack button. But, now you can hold R1 whilst doing that for a higher profile kill. You can do it from a greater distance, but its more flashy and more likely to be noticed.

You can assassinate while running now, which is useful, as are the corner kills. That's an addition I like. In the previous games, if you wanted to kill someone coming around the corner, you had to just stand around a corner, wait for them to pass and then try to assassinate as normal. But that always seems shaky, sometimes the enemy could spy you out of the corner of their eye and catch you, preventing you from an assassination kill. Now, you can lie in wait around a corner, and assassinate them when they come within range.

I'm pretty sure you can chain assassination kills now. Because I'm able to sneak up behind one of the 8 man patrols and quickly assassinate them all by taking out the rear guys then point in the direction of the next guys and hit attack again and so forth. Of course, it could simply be that its easier to quickly assassinate folks, and its not a chain, just that your character is quicker and able to kill them before they turn around after killing the first set of guys.

Countering is different now. Instead of holding R1 and hitting a button right as they're about to attack, you hit the counter button to counter and then quickly one of the other buttons to either counter attack, throw, or special counterattack. I'm not sure if that's better or not. Since the throw option after you counter is the same button as the counter, I do find myself accidentally throwing the opponent rather than counter killing them. Also, I'm not sure if you can counter out of attacks if in the middle of an execution streak- in Brotherhood, as long as you were holding R1 in the middle of your chain, as soon as someone is about to attack, you just hit the attack button to counter kill them, even if you were in the middle of a kill animation. Since that's the same button you're using to attack during your streak, no problem. But now the buttons are different.

One thing the redcoats will do if you're not up in their face, is gather into a firing line and try to gun you down with massed fire. Which I thought was an exciting way to try and take you out. Don't worry though, since these are friggin muskets, you do have a second or two to either run behind cover, grab the nearest poor enemy and use him as a human shield, or just charge them before they get their shoots off.

Oh, health works differently now- your life bar goes down if you're hurt during battle, but you don't recover it with medicine, you just have to get away and get some breathing room, and your life bar will fill back up.

Heh, also, you can now pet random animals wandering around like dogs and cats and goats and chickens.

Speaking of chickens, Topless Robot printed the other two stories that go along with that effed up Wolverine and Jean Grey story (which is apparently a trilogy) for Fan Fiction Friday. Seriously, what the eff?!
