Feb. 16th, 2012 06:45 pmSo, I think I posted this previously, but I'm in training up on Ashford Dunwoody today and tomorrow. Mostly because there was an e-mail that went out about it last year, and I missed the part where it said, "Reply to this e-mail if you DON'T want to go". Cut to two weeks ago, where I find out I'm apparently signed up for this seminar, and it was already paid for. Eh, it's fine, its something to do, and its been informative. Heh, the instructor misread this one lady's name tag as "Blanca" instead of "Bianca". And she didn't want to call the instructor out in front of everybody, so the instructor kept doing it. Which made me think of Die Hard 3. I leave it to the reader to figure out why.
TV commentary:
SVU- Oh, ha, I totally didn't recognize the boyfriend as being Max from WoWP at first. In any case, I'll admit, SVU did fool me. I mean, the description talked about a secret about Rollins coming to light. ( spoiler cut )
So, on Glee, I'm trying to figure out when I became a Faberry shipper. First season, its no secret I was a huge Puckelberry fan. And I actually liked Quinn with Finn, they had their problems, but I thought it would be refreshing if despite all that went down between them, they worked it out. And I wanted to see Rachel and Quinn become friends. I was kinda disappointed that Mercedes ended up being the one who took Quinn in rather than Rachel. Not that I have a problem with Mercedes, just that I felt it would make more sense thematically if Rachel ended up being the one to be there for her. I mean, yeah, Quinn's been cruel to her in the past, and Rachel was the one who told Finn about the true parentage of Drizzle/Beth. But the latter felt sorry, and the former didn't blame Rachel. It would've been a perfect jumping off point to them becoming friends. And going along with that, a Finn-Rachel-Puck-Quinn love square. I still feel there was a lot of wasted potential there story wise. Puck sniffing around both Finn's girls, but not because he's a horndog, but because Finn never really appreciated either of them as much as he should've, constantly cheating on one girl with the other.
Anyways, Faberry haters are all, "Rachel and Quinn aren't even lesbians!" Well, no shit! But, if you put those Faberry-colored glasses on, its just SO easy to read a lot into their actions and behaviors and think they have a lot of unresolved sexual tension with each other. And yes, just because a girl holds another girl's hand doesn't mean they're lesbians, but between all the hugs and the hand holding and always having each other's best interests at heart despite all the crap that's gone down between them, it can be read as a totally straight, but still really close friendship, but one can still imagine they're both really big lesbos as well.
Now honestly, I do think the fans are kidding themselves if they think the show would actually have them hook up, despite the apparent popularity of the coupling in the fandom. So I think those fans who legitimately think they're going that direction rather than just being, "wouldn't it be so amusing if Quinn was upset not because she thought Finn and Rachel were idiots for getting married in HS, but she was secretly jealous and she's going to stop the wedding by declaring her love for her" are setting themselves up for major disappointment.
BTW, Afterellen has a really good article on how Faberry and that E! online poll are a nice sign of how far the world has come in terms of acceptance.
