DW7 stuff: So after some comments made by [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler on my last post, that had me thinking of the question often posted on DW message boards on who the next PCs they should include in this game.

Sha Moke: Sha Moke is someone a lot of people have been clamoring for. He has a bad-ass description in the books, but plays a small role in the overall story. He's the leader of a Barbarian tribe who hooked up with Liu Bei's forces post-Guan Yu's death to fight Wu. They could always take liberties, but I guess the problem is that being a Barbarian, that kinda cuts into what Meng Huo is. Though Meng Huo is kinda a goof, I guess they could make him a bad-ass barbarian type, but then I realize that would also make him similar to Wei Yan.

Hua Xiong- he gets to be pretty bad-ass at Si Shui Gate, until Guan Yu finally slew him (in RotK, supposedly it was Sun Jian in real life). But, Dong Zhou is not so long lived either by the game's standards. He was supposedly 6'11", which was probably insanely gigantic for ancient China. On the one hand, you could kinda boost Dong Zhou's forces by having him have two bad-ass warriors, rather than just Lu Bu, but that does take away from Lu Bu's bad-assedness. I think if they did add him, they'd also have to add Chen Gong, and kinda have a Dong Zhou/Lu Bu faction story with Dong Zhou, Diao Chan, Lu Bu, Hua Xiong, and Chen Gong as PCs.

Yue Jin and Yu Jin- The only two non PCS of the Five Wei Generals. As I said, its odd the the Five Tiger Generals of Shu are PCs, but their Wei counterparts are not- Xu Huang, Zhang Liao, Zhang He, and two randoms? Yu Jin apparently loses points for surrendering to Guan Yu at Fan Castle, but Yue Jin in addition to being one of the Five Generals of Wei, is also one of Wei's Eight Tiger Generals- a group which includes 5 PCs (Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, Xu Chu, Cao Ren, and Zhang Liao), along with Yue Jin, Li Dian, and Cao Hong. So, being part of two prestigious Wei groups, you'd thinking that would put him in the running for PC status.

I guess the problem is Wei is already big and chock full of solid characters- unlike the other factions, the Wei haven't really had any major re-designs to their characters, because they work. So the game may be hesitant to add even more Wei. Indeed, they even removed Sima Yi from their ranks and gave his own faction, and tossed a lot of later Wei heroes in there. I mean, technically, in the Jin story, for most of the story they're still "Wei". Jin doesn't really get established until near the end/after the end of their story.

Yan Liang and Wen Chou- another couple of guys with a bad-ass reputation in the books, but don't really do much. Like they weren't at the battles of Si Shui and Hu Lao gates, but Yuan Shao was all, if they were there, they could've taken on Hua Xiong and Lu Bu. In DW7, they're those guys at the Battle of Guan Du, who surround Guan Yu at the river and talk about how bad-ass they are, but then he kills them right quick.

I guess the only way they really work is if you did a Yuan Shao mini-faction/storyline, with them in that group. And if you were doing mini-factions, in addition to this Yuan Shao one and the aforementioned Lu Bu/Dong Zhou one, I guess you could make a mini-Yellow Turban faction story with Zhang Bao (its confusing that one of Zhang Fei's sons is also named this) and Zhang Liang.

TV Commentary:

90210- Hey, Naomi and Max are out and proud, so that's cool. But geez, could the rest of the show be more cliche with Annie's new senile ex-actress boss/friend and Ivy's cancer boyfriend? And I'm still offended that they went there and had Ade switch out Silver's meds, because that's beyond wrong to do to someone!

Gossip Girl- Damn this show, always giving me enough to hold out a glimmer of hope for Dair, but not enough to truly believe the writers won't frak things up in the end. spoiler cut )
