Vampire Diaries- You know, when this show first came out, I thought it was kinda boring so it got knocked off my TV queue. But then I caught the later eps and they sucked me in. I guess one thing I like about the show is things actually happen. Instead of various people finding things out but being secretive for some reason and frustrating the audience because if people actually TALKED to each other then the plot could move forward, they actually do! Like its refreshing to see people not sit on vital information for some contrived reason.
I guess the other thing is, despite my propensity for liking lame drama, the way the whole vampire-human romance thing is usually done just pisses me off. Its always, "Oh, we're from different worlds, I, as a vampire live far longer than you, and when you get all old-ass, I'll still be young and beautiful!" "Then turn me!" "No, I cannot allow you to become a vampire, because you'll become a monster! I struggle every day with keeping that side of me in check!" Blah, blah, blah! I guess I would be a dick, because if I were a vamp and got infatuated with a girl (beyond having her as a thrall), why not turn her? If it didn't work out, owel! Hey, she got eternal life and superhuman powers out of the deal, she shouldn't be so pissed! But yeah, when Vampire Diaries first started, I thought it would be just a whole lot of that. There's still some, but there's also what I really like in vampire fiction- the whole masquerade thing, secret vampire societies trying to keep a tenuous peace with the humans and finding the balance of getting what they want without alerting/pissing off the humans enough for them to band together and hunt them down. Like the Blade TV show, the actual Blade parts were boring, but the stuff with Krista infiltrating whatever the big vamp organization was called and all the politics between the various clans were what I liked.
I mean, the show doesn't actually have it on so large a scale as something like Blade or True Blood (where vamps are out and about even!), but I think the same concepts are there with Pearl and her coven, as well as with the Founder's Council on the human side. Plus there's the whole why the hell does Elena look like Katherine, combined with the whole Isobel-Alaric-Damon stuff and what, if anything, it has to do with that. I guess all in all, what the show currently is now is pretty different from the way I thought it would be from the pilot, and that's a good thing. And there's no shortage of hot chicks, not just hottie nymphets, but MILF-y ones too. Like Melinda Clarke, Kelly Hu, and Mia Kirshner, though its odd to think of the latter two as MILFs. I mean, Melinda Clarke's character here seems to basically Julie Cooper if she never married Jimmy, so I can see her as a mom type, but I'm used to thinking of the latter two as hot assassins in stuff like 24 and NCIS.
Anyways, onto the actual ep. ( spoiler cut )
Bones- What's with all the how X met Y eps this week? I mean, In Plain Sight the night before had when Mary and Marshall first met too. ( spoiler cut )
In Plain Sight- Speaking of In Plain Sight... ( spoiler cut )
Justified- ( spoiler cut )
Fringe- ( spoiler cut )
Supernatural- ( spoiler cut )
