I hate rainy days. And at least now I can complain without people being all, "No, but its a good thing in the scheme of things", because we've gotten far too much rain these past few days. But yeah, it sucks having to drive through, because you have people who freak out and go to slow, and maniacs who don't change their driving style at all even though its a torrential downpour and are still going like 80. Yeah, that's great, mix those two together on slippery roads and very little visibility! I always dread heavy rain because of the potential power/cable/internet outage, I hadn't even though about flooding. Not that I've been affected by the latter yet. Hopefully we've past the worst of it this week.

Anyways, so I was back up in NYC this past weekend. My aunt was having a big 70th b-day celebration, and since I had a bunch of unused miles, I was able to get a free ticket up there this weekend. It was fun. Sat at a table with the "kids". Well, we're not kids anymore, I mean, my niece J was the youngest at the table at 20. But you know, the younger generation folks. Well, mostly, since cousins R & J have their own sons now, they were at a different table. Actually, some son of one of my aunts co-workers sat at our table, he was kinda the odd man out. Heh, I think he was trying to put the moves on my niece even though she was trying to make it clear she wasn't interested. We even had a conversation at the table about how American Flips are rarely interested in their own kind to drop the hint! Heh, though in the end I think Jennie-Jeanie and A got totally plastered and scared him off with their drunken ranting about men. Like the previous convo, A got all mad at me because I thought our other cousin A's ex-gf was pretty cute (when in her opinion she was a crazy bitca!) and J-J was all "how expected" about my preference for the snowflakes.

All in all, it was nice being back in NYC for a couple of days.

Cool, the latest Glee releases this week on Itunes includes their version of Queen's "Somebody to Love". Awesome! (And I hear Fox just picked it up for a full season. Also awesome!) Although I've noticed my musical downloads as of late have been influenced a lot by Glee and Gossip Girl. I mean, I've liked most of what they'd had on Glee so far, and Gossip Girl is a Schwartz show, and they (Gossip Girl, Chuck, the OC) have always had pretty good soundtracks. Chuck often gets nostalgia points for some of the stuff they've had. I do think I prefer the music they've had on Gossip Girl over the OC, though. Heh, I can't believe they did play Cobra Starship "Good Girls Go Bad" (twice!) last night, but with Leighton Meester doing the female vocals, I guess you had to know that was coming on the show eventually.

Ooh, the writer's block of the day question is: "Would you rather spend the weekend camping in the woods or at a luxury hotel? Why?"

That's an easy question, luxury hotel, of course. Especially if I'm not footing the bill! I mean, who wants to spend a weekend camping in the woods with the dirt and the bugs (spreading diseases and poisoning with their bites!) and the killer animals (lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! But also snakes and coyotes and wolves and sasquatches) and inbred cannibal-rapists and revenge-bent giant flesh golems?! Yeah, that sounds better than lounging around in a luxury suite with a special lady friend or three! Or at the very least ordering in and watching TV!

After finally listening to the Glee Cast version of Queen's "Somebody to Love", I just have to say "WOW!" An incredible version of such an awesome song. Some may disagree, but I think that its as good if not better than their rendition of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" in the pilot. And does everyone have a part in this one? I mean, I think all the songs released so far are mainly Rachel, Finn, Mercedes, or Will on lead. But on this one, besides Rachel, Finn, and Mercedes, I can definitely pick out Artie, possibly Quinn and/or Tina too?

As for "Taking Chances", I liked it as well. I wanna say Lea Michele is my favorite performer on the cast. (Amber Riley is pretty good too, but I prefer the songs they have Lea do) I definitely like what she did with this song, and also Rihanna's "Take a Bow". As I've said before, I'm not a fan of the original song (its overly dramatic Rihanna, though not nearly as melodramatic as "Unfaithful", whereas I prefer her more upbeat songs), but I love Lea Michele's take on it. And to think, when I first heard her on the Spring Awakening soundtrack, I thought she was outshone by Lauren Pritchard.
