I hate rainy days. And at least now I can complain without people being all, "No, but its a good thing in the scheme of things", because we've gotten far too much rain these past few days. But yeah, it sucks having to drive through, because you have people who freak out and go to slow, and maniacs who don't change their driving style at all even though its a torrential downpour and are still going like 80. Yeah, that's great, mix those two together on slippery roads and very little visibility! I always dread heavy rain because of the potential power/cable/internet outage, I hadn't even though about flooding. Not that I've been affected by the latter yet. Hopefully we've past the worst of it this week.

Anyways, so I was back up in NYC this past weekend. My aunt was having a big 70th b-day celebration, and since I had a bunch of unused miles, I was able to get a free ticket up there this weekend. It was fun. Sat at a table with the "kids". Well, we're not kids anymore, I mean, my niece J was the youngest at the table at 20. But you know, the younger generation folks. Well, mostly, since cousins R & J have their own sons now, they were at a different table. Actually, some son of one of my aunts co-workers sat at our table, he was kinda the odd man out. Heh, I think he was trying to put the moves on my niece even though she was trying to make it clear she wasn't interested. We even had a conversation at the table about how American Flips are rarely interested in their own kind to drop the hint! Heh, though in the end I think Jennie-Jeanie and A got totally plastered and scared him off with their drunken ranting about men. Like the previous convo, A got all mad at me because I thought our other cousin A's ex-gf was pretty cute (when in her opinion she was a crazy bitca!) and J-J was all "how expected" about my preference for the snowflakes.

All in all, it was nice being back in NYC for a couple of days.

TV Commentary:

HIMYM- Wait, so they get around all the creepy ethical issues about the mother being a student of Ted's by saying that first class we see him in is the wrong class, so she wasn't actually one of his students? Heh, although doesn't that mean the first time she met him he made a total jack-ass of himself?

And Robin and Barney are a fake real couple now? They think they're just pretending to be in a relationship to appease Lily, but even though Ted and Marshall were all, "You know they're lying, right?" the BroTP shipper in her is all, "Yeah, to themselves!" because after they leave they're totally doing relationship things.

House- Ah, so it was definitely an asylum he got sent to at the end of last season. So he becomes sort of friends with his psychiatrist Andre Braugher, sleeps with the Run Lola Run/Bourne Identity chick, the married sister in law of one of his fellow patients, whom he breaks out of her catatonia, while simultaneously breaking this other patient out of his catatonia, this guy who thinks he's a superhero and tried to actually do something nice for by escaping and taking him to a fair so he could "fly" but then the guy jumped off a parking garage and got seriously hurt and became catatonic, by helping him to "save" her. Oh, and he also inspires his manic roommate to get better.

In the end, Andre Braugher releases him because after House is distraught over Lola sleeping with him, but then having to move to Arizona now that her sister in law is better, rather than drowning himself in a pill bottle, he goes back to the hospital to talk with Andre. This show always confuses me with the back and forth on his "he's in pain, but without the pain he wouldn't be as good as he is" thing. I guess now they're trying to say the whole pills for his leg thing was a crutch, and the vicodin was not only to prevent that pain, but the rest of his misery? As Andre said, it had to be more than a side-effect of Vicodin addiction, because he's been on it for years and didn't hallucinate. He did also bring up the point that Amber, Kutner, and his dad died all within a year. That's a lot of people he knows dying.

Gossip Girl- Is it me, or the whole stalkery-ness of Scott seems less, "I want to know more about my secret brother!" and more gay? I mean, he has three other secret siblings, Serena, Jenny, and Eric, and he has no interest in any of them?

For me, the NYU plots were the most interesting. Nate and Bree? Serena and Carter? Boring. Actually, the stuff with Serena and Chuck was interesting. Chuck prolly coulda made it clearer that the club part was on the down-low so she wouldn't accidentally spill the beans to the investors, though her trying to purposely tank his deal later was pretty bitchy. At least she saw how bad it was.

But yeah, the Dair-shipper in me thought this was a great ep in terms of Dan/Blair. Some other Dairies didn't like the turn of events, but 1) as giddy as I would be if the show was actually gonna couple Dan and Blair, I'm skeptical it'll ever happen, and 2) even if they were going there, they can't just make them the best of friends immediately. There's too many obstacles to make even them being just friends easy. Personally, I think there was a lot of Dan/Blair potential in this ep.

I mean, this is the second ep in a row where they turned to each other for help on something. Blair asking Dan to be her date to Georgina's party and the whole "no headbands in college" thing was sweet (even if they cut out the part where he smooths her hair out afterward). Sure, she wanted to go to the party to mess it up, but I think its very telling that she invited Dan to her party. She felt obligated to reward him even though she used him.

Sure, he turns the tables back on Blair and then hooks up with Georgina at the end, but let's look at it this way. Like the time he tanked Blair with Chuck because Vanessa didn't give him all the info, he thought the worst of Blair and thinks she's just being a paranoid weirdo when she claims Georgina is messing with her. And when Dan does figure out Georgina is frickin' insane, who's gonna help him get away from her? Surely they'll tag team once again to take Georgina down like they did in season 1. And he can feel all bad again about being all judgey on Blair. With Michelle Trachtenberg being on that Mercy show, Georgina won't be around too much longer, I don't think. So, after the inevitable breakdown they can become closer friends. And the groundwork is laid for possible Dair. Even though I'm sure it will never happen.

They sure do like teasing us though! I mean, the whole Dan being "Oh, never!" when his dad thought they were dating totally seemed like the "classic lying to themselves because they really do like them" sort of thing. And they have so much chemistry in the scenes they do interact with each other in. And Serena and Dan are about to be siblings, and Dan and Vanessa would actually be kinda weird and boring, and if Blair and Chuck stay together like they are now, that's also gonna get boring, so who else do they have to hook up with except each other? Its the only pairing they haven't yet explored! Nate's been with every chick. Chuck's been with Blair and Vanessa, and let's not forget back in the day when he was all rape-y and before Serena was his sister and Jenny is kinda his sister, he tried to get with them. (If by get with you mean rape!) Dan used to crush on Vanessa before getting with Serena. So all that's left for them to explore are those two!
