TV Commentary:
Reaper- ( spoiler cut )
90210- is it lame that when Annie and Dixon were thinking of road trip music, and Annie wanted to listen to "Rent", and Dixon "The Beastie Boys", I woulda gone with the former? And is it ridiculous to have both the movie soundtrack and the original broadway cast recording? I mean, some of the songs slightly differ, and obviously there's a different Mimi and Joanne. Oh and this show can be so cliche and lame sometimes, I'm surprised they didn't have Donna make a reference/joke about David killing robots or time traveling. ( spoiler cut )
Fringe- See, between this past week's House and Fringe (and the Dollhouse a couple of weeks ago), it just reinforces my annoyance with these young, idealist student activist types. (Or at least the TV-version of such people). Like who actually breaks into labs to free the animals? That's how zombie (okay, Rage-infections) outbreaks happen!
But I was also reminded when I read last week's TWoP recap about Peter mentioning Roadblock and how he wasn't "one of your top-tier" G.I.Joes! What the hell is he talking about?! I would bet he's definitely top 5 on a list of Joes people who are even only passingly familar with G.I.Joe can name! Its always been him, Duke, Scarlett, and Snake Eyes who were the most popular. Its the main archetypes! Roadblock (though I guess a whole new generation of kids know him as Heavy Duty, as I explained in a previous post) is the big strong black guy, Duke's the corny whitebread Mr. All American Hero, Scarlett's the hot chick, and Snake Eyes is the silent bad-ass.
Their error this week? Confusing .50 AE and .50 BMG rounds. Yeah, there are .50 cal incendiary rounds used by heavy machine guns and sniper rifles chambered for .50 BMG, but not in .50 AE which is a pistol round used by handguns like the Desert Eagle (though I guess there are some conversions of the M4 carbine that are chambered for it, and that would be hard hitting, but not .50 cal incendiary round hard-hitting), which is what they ended up using for hunting.
