There are 5 guys who make the best hot dogs in Atlanta

When I first heard they were doing a Knight Rider remake movie, I thought it was something coming out in theaters. But its only a made for TV movie coming out this February. So the new KITT is one of those Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KRs? And KITT's new voice is GOB from Arrested Development? HA!

Tried to eat dinner at Frontera last night, and though it didn't say it on their sign, they had the frickin' mariachi band again. Who actually likes them coming around like that? Sure, you may think it amusing once, but it gets kinda annoying real quick if its a restaurant you got to regularly. I mean, its so frickin' loud so it makes it hard to talk with the people you're eating, even if they're across the room! The mariachis, not the people you're trying to talk to. I'm fine with them shooting up Latina American thugs and drug dealers by the hundreds, I just don't need to hear their actual music! Ended up going to Uncle Vito's instead. phatjoe mentioned that hot dog place in the same complex, which I was unaware of, but the roomie had mentioned to me like countless times apparently.

Whoops, forgot to mention I started reading "Invincible", which clevemire lent to me. Heh, when I heard the name before, I was thinking of that movie. No, not the Mark Wahlberg becomes a Phillie Eagle one, the one about the jewish strongman in pre WWII Germany, neither movie I have seen. Anyways, Invincible is definitely a cool read. I do like the random, albiet weird pop culture references. I mean, the story arcs are named after sitcoms- "Head of the Class", "Family Matters", "Growing Pains". The first few ishes had strange Family Matters references- a dorky Urkel looking kid named "Steve White" (Urkel's first name and the last name of the actor who played him) and the high school is Reginald Vel Johnson high school (who of course played Carl Winslow, or John Mclane's cop helper in Die Hard), and I think the principal even looked like him and was named Mr. Winslow.

Anyways, its a funny, clever series. Its almost AD like where they'll start a joke in one issue, and you don't see the punchline until a few ishes later. But like many comics of late, they have a Justice League analogue. What's with all the Justice League analogues anyways? The Authority, there's a similar group in that one series that portrays superheroes as a-holes and bullies and the protagonists of the story are a morally ambiguous bunch who go after them to put them in their place (the name of the series escapes me). Even the Wanted comic series has characters who are obvious references to the Justice League. BTW, the concept of the Wanted comic actually sounds cool (wiki it some time), but the new movie with Angelina Jolie and who the devil is that the kids like nowadays, oh yeah, Morgan Freeman, is almost nothing like it. They turn it into some weird gun fu movie and it looks like they drop out the main concept of the book!!

But I digress, back to Justice League analogues. I always thought Marvel was more popular than DC, but it seems the Justice League is more iconic that the Marvel superheroes. I mean, everyone knows Spiderman and the Hulk, and many prolly heard of Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, the X-men, and Iron Man. But do most people know the roster of the Avengers (or realize its not about British spies in bowler hats and cat suits)? Hell, even before the movies could non comic book geeks even name the members of the Fantastic Four or the X-Men (other than Wolverine)? But I bet a lot of people could name the Justice League.

Ooh, Appletini! When did they start drinking straight guy drinks?

Was reading fanfic out of boredom which gave me an idea for a new top 5 list- Top 5 non-official pairings on a TV show. But I could only think of three:

1) Ryan/Summer on the OC. Yeah, I don't think there would be any way that could come about on the show, but it always seemed like it would be an interesting pairing.

2) Dan/Blair on Gossip Girls. Alas, they haven't had any real interaction since "Bad News Blair", but they had a nice moment in that ep. Yeah, they're like total opposites, but you know what they say about opposites. There's even a community, daretodair.

3) Peter/Elle on Heroes. Another pairing with its own community, "Sparks Will Fly", at peter_elle. C'mon, you could tell she clearly had a thing for him during "Four Months Ago". Yeah, she was handsy with Mo also, but you saw how egg-cited she was when Peter started to seem receptive to her advances, and how pissed she was when she realized he betrayed her. Plus, she's one of those damaged girls, and Peter's one of those people who has to fix everything, it works!

Pairings I considered but didn't make the cut:

- Pam/Toby on the Office. Sure, you feel sorry for the poor guy, but honestly, its not even remotely possible! Plus, its so deliciously cruel when she obliviously shoots him down. Ha!

- Clark/Chloe on Smallville. One of the consistent plot elements of Smallville is that Chloe gets dumped on. Just once, she deserves to "win". Which I guess entails getting Clark. Then again, he's a dick, so does she really want him?

- Helo/Racetrack on BSG. I know most of you are all, who?! Well, Margaret Edmundson, who plays Racetrack, says she plays Racetrack as if she has an unrequited crush on Helo, based on a fanfic once written about the two characters. Honestly, I just find the idea of tension between those two and Athena amusing since they hang out all the time.
